Oh please.. if you can afford a $100,000 car you can pony up another hundred grand without batting an eye.

No thanks. I'll take the GT-R (along with a loaded 09 Maxima, loaded new Murano and a Spec-V as daily beater)....which will price out much cheaper (even with the GT-R's markup).

I think this is the "Shock and Awe" pricing method that Acura used for the new NSX. Hyundai is going to be releasing a $1,000,000 Genesis coupe in a few weeks, but when it reaches the dealers it will be priced <$30K.

It doesn't look like a 225K car. This is where the Italians can get away with those exorbitant price tags.

LOL....EVERYONE would buy a 2007 Ferrari F430 Spider costs $211,525 over this car. It would have to be better that the M5, AMG, etc to make worth over $200K.

Not really. Because if no one buys this car it will become exclusive, and then some people will buy it just for the exclusivity.

all i'm saying is that toyota execs have either been thinking that Lexus is the shit now, which it isn't, that's why they are charging $225K for it. yes it's better in customer service than both acura and infiniti, but that's it.

As much as I am a fan of Japanese cars, buying one for >$75k would make me consider the upmarket competition from Porsche, MB, etc,... At $200k+, Japanese car would not even be on my radar.

I have no doubt that his will be a great car but NOT $150k better than a Nissan GT-R if at all.

my guess is $205,000

if you look in the grand scheme of things, if this thing out performs f430 and gallardo, and has the luxury of bentley gt and since it's toyota it has reliability that are mountains above all the aforementioned... this is a steal at 205K

ok ok, in the supercar world it's a steal.

no but really, think about f430 performance and bentley luxury with reliability.

why would you want a third world country anyway?

Thank you! Everybody needs to quit assuming this car wont be WORTH the money.. my bets are that it will be. Not to mention, nobody thought anyone would be the $100k lexus ls600h and they are selling pretty well.

Not for nothing, the LS has faded into an obscurity almost as bad as the RL/Legen. To wit, I see tons of W221s on the road but have only seen a handful of Lexus USFs. ....and many of them have been AMG models.

That said (and like many Lexus products), the LF-A cater more so to those who want a Ferrari type car built by Toyota....and not so much the typical car enthusiast.

At $225k they might as well pack it up and go home right now. Way too much competition in that price range (or lower even) that have the pedigree to charge those kinds of prices. Lexus builds $50-100k cars. Few will care about a Japanese supercar that costs close to $1/4M.

Like the NSX, the LF-A, at those prices, will be an expensive decoration in many Lexus dealership showrooms. Actually, it'll probably help more to sell cars than some of the art work and furniture in some of those places.

Cut the bullshit and do some research...

The LS460/600 handily outsells the S-class. By about a 1000 units more per month (~3500 to ~2500).

Yeah. The Lexus execs definitely think that the brand is the shit now. I wouldn't even say that they're customer service is better than Infiniti's. My parents own both a Lexus and Infiniti, and Infiniti's customer service has been better, IMO.

I don't see why 200k is "laughable". THis isn't targeted at the F430 performance wise. Lexus is aiming to completely rewrite the supercar rulebook with this car - we're talking Carrera GT and Enzo crushing performance. Unofficial 'ring laptimes of 7:24 would agree with this.

Throw in some real luxury. And some much needed reliability in this segment filled with a bunch of overpriced cars that look good on paper, look good in person, and then run with about as much reliability as a rubic's cube.

At <250k, it would be a bargain.

Lexus has a loyal following, and they can and will sell this car effectively. Just like they sell the not so fuel efficient LS600L without sweat.

That's only implied reliability.... how many production V10s/V12s has Toyota made, and how reliable were they?

We'll see how this thing sells...
