I think it's a chop. But if the car's anywhere close to that, it'll be hot as hell.

No one would be seeing these pics if they weren't a PS. Think in the end, all these lexus ideas end up looking the same. - Waiting for the auto show.

Official ES350 pics

Coming Soon: A New ES.

With all the excitement surrounding the recent introduction of the new LS 460, GS 450h, and IS, one could be forgiven for wondering if other Lexus models—like the ES—have been forgotten. Hardly. In fact, the ES has been completely redesigned as the 2007 ES 350.

Like other redesigned Lexus models, the new ES 350 sports what the chief engineer calls as “confident” new look, thanks in part to a wider stance and wheels repositioned closer to the vehicle’s corners. The ES 350 has a larger wheelbase and a wider track, both of which help enhance the vehicle’s handling and increases the interior space.

Designers also equipped the ES 350 with an array of new Lexus features, such as the keyless SmartAccess system with push-button ignition, the backup camera, Bluetooth® technology that gives drivers hands-free cell phone access (with compatible cell phones), and options such as swivel headlamps that turn with the road and a DVD Navigation System with the latest graphics and points of interest.

Under the hood, a larger 3.5-liter V6 engine, complete with Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i) for maximum engine efficiency, produces 275 horsepower—a 50-horsepower increase from the ES 330’s engine. The vehicle also includes a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shifting, which improves overall vehicle performance and fuel efficiency.

Enhanced safety features include driver and front passenger knee airbags, a direct-type tire pressure monitor, and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with Traction Control. Plus, options [...] leather seats equipped with the Lexus Memory System, a glass roof, a power rear sunshade, and heated and ventilated front seats. (Most of these items will be included in a new ultra luxury package). Look for the 2007 ES 350 to arrive in dealerships this spring.

Can't see much, but I don't have much hope that the rear end will be nice. Looks like it might be SC430-esque and pudgy.

If the rear looks as good as the small pic of the front, then this could be a winner

WOW. I'm very, very impressed. They didn't dumb down the front for the IS's sake... it's very, very aggressive, and better looking than the LS. The wheel and center stack look great. I had a feeling the HP would be around 275. It's more than the Avalon, while being enough for the front wheels to handle. And ofcourse, it has a complete list of lux items. I look forward t seeing the entire car. Ofcourse, the class roof option's the shit. The rear quater shot shows us the looks of the rear lamps... not bad. There's a bangleized lip going around the trunk of the car, but if it's slight it'll probably look good.

That steering wheel is tits!

Front of that car looks to be very agressive...

Lexus keeps positioning themselves higher and higher on the food chain.

The dash image looks to be mirrored so is the speedometer and steering wheel if you look closely. You can kind of see an outline of the redline of the tach.

So Toyota/Lexus has followed Nissan's/Infiniti's strategy with the proliferation of a 3.5 liter engine with slightly different outputs depending on model. From 268 all the way to 306 (for now).

The 306HP version is quite different than these more pedestrian versions. No DI on these lesser engines.

This looks to be a chop to show more of the interior...

Not unless Lexus decided to put two hazard buttons on the dash and two cruise control module thingy on the steering wheel column. Not bad tho...I wonder how the rest of the car looks...

Hey, why not? It works... Toyota's been using the same concept in the form of platform sharing for years.

With the 2GR-FSE (in any interation), it'll definitely have some terrific straightline acceleration. I just hope there'll be a sport handling/suspension pkg w/18" wheels available as an option.

I like it alot. It's definitely not the ugly duckling that the current gen is. The front's aggressive face is a nice change, and the rear looks is an improvement on the IS's theme,IMO. The interior is standard Lexus nice... the only thing that urks me a bit is the shape of the at the top that's so rounded. Atleast it's different. It'll probably grow on me. All in all, A+.

True It does remind me a little of the 02-03 Maxima (again, sort of), with that center stack panel inserted into the dash. I'm surprised they went in that styling direction. That said, I'm really into it.

I am loving it! I was really afraid that this gen would inherit the Toyota Avalon boat-like rear-end.

Yeah I'm not too crazy about that upside down loop in the center stack. I don't think I'm going to like the interior as much as I like the current one.

The outside is elegant, although the front reminds me of the RL.

It's a good blend of the current gen look and the corporate look. I don't like the center stack, but at least it's not boring

BTW, is it just me or the roof line after the B pillar decended too quickly?

That's one of the "signature" look of the ES, I guess, since the current gen. If you look at the current, you'll also notice the sloping roof line and the raked rear windshield that flows into the trunk lid. I think they even mention it in the press releases posted in the previous page.

It kind of looks like an outline of big shoe horn. Other then that this new ES blows away the old one based on the new pics.

Same here! Actually, the IS doesn't impress me. Especially the front end (it's lines are to severe, to crisp). This ES takes the IS theme and softens the front, while still managing to have a bolder face.
