Lamborghini: Sales, Marketing, and Financial News
From Leftlanenews...
Lamborghini closed the first half of 2006 with a 45 percent sales increase, the automaker said this week. Sales went from 655 to 952 units, when compared with the same time period in 2005. Strong sales of the Gallardo Spyder were cited as on major booster, in addition for increased demand for other models. The Murciélago LP640 is selling well, with a waiting list now standing at 12 months. The automaker says it expects to set a sales record this year, in addition to a 68 percent increase in U.S. sales alone. American sales in the first half were 422 units — up from 251.

I see the demand for Lambos coming from 2 places which sorta feed each other.
1. The internet has sparked more interest in supercars, particularly Ferrari, with Ferrari the big issue in the past has been fears of the cost of ownership, the forums have gone a long way to debunk or at least reduce the myths of huge costs to run and although they aren't like driving a Civic when the great resell value is considered they don't cost a mint to drive (assuming you can cover the freight for the purchase).
2. With Ferrari demand up, waiting lists for 8 cylinder cars have grown and new millionaires find that they can't just pop to the top of the list for a F430 and many of them slide over and "settle" for a G.
I figure it is also important to note that despite Audi not being a paragon of reliability its influence has apparently produced much better reliability in the Lambo line than traditionally expected.

Lamborghini hosts performance driving school at Laguna Seca
And at a great track too!
Source: http://www.leftlanenews.com/lamborgh...#ixzz394bjBAon
Lamborghini has announced its first-ever performance driving school in North America.
The Italian automaker will bring its Accademia team and a handful of Huracan LP 610-4 supercars to the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California, for four days in September.
The one-day event will begin with morning exercises including slalom, acceleration, braking, drifting and section training at Laguna Seca's famous corners, including the Corkscrew. In the afternoon, drivers will step up to full-course lapping with one-on-one coaching and video analysis.
"No previous experience is required to enter our courses: any car enthusiast, whether a Lamborghini owner or not, can register," the company notes.
The program costs $4,995 for each driver, including a hotel stay and food and beverages.

Winter Driving Academy for US Announced
I'm sure most Lamborghini owners want to drive their cars in the snow!
From here: Lamborghini Brings Winter Driving Academy To U.S.
From here: Lamborghini Brings Winter Driving Academy To U.S.
The growing popularity of supercars has seen a surge in the interest in performance and winter driving schools, with many automakers now offering their own programs where customers can learn how to handle high-performance cars in all conditions. Lamborghini is one such automaker, having run its Winter Academy in Europe for the past several years, and now it’s about to start one in the U.S.
Yes, Lamborghini is bringing its Winter Academy to the U.S., with the first event scheduled to take place at the Aspen Motorsports Park in Woody Creek, Colorado in early February, 2015. There will be two events, one running from February 5-7 and the other from February 6-8.
Those participating will have access to both the Huracán LP 610-4 and the Aventador LP 700-4, and only a limited number of places will be offered so that there are only two participants per vehicle. Participants will practice emergency braking, hone drifting skills and perfect full-lap road course driving methods on the snow in the all-wheel-drive supercars.
The program has been designed to give the participants a maximum of driving time, starting early in the morning and continuing all day long. In addition to the driving instruction, two nights of lodging, a group dinner, breakfast and lunch while at the track, and a photo/video package are included as part of the program.
Some of the other automakers running similar winter driving schools include Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz.

Offices Raided in Light of VW Scandal
Quoted from here: VW To Recall 8.5 Million Diesel Cars In Europe; Lamborghini Offices Raided By Police
Italian police have raided VW’s offices in Italy as well as those of VW subsidiary Lamborghini in regards to the diesel scandal. The raids were prompted after a local consumer rights group filed a fraud suit on behalf of thousands of owners of VW-made vehicles. The argument is that VW has committed fraud at the expense of consumers.

Audi could soon relinquish ownership of Lamborghini in a VW Group shakeup that will allegedly see Porsche take charge of the Italian automaker.
Automobile Magazine reports that the companies involved want to finalize the change by January 1st, 2019 and if it goes ahead, Porsche’s influence on Lamborghini could be significant.
VW allegedly wants more and more of its performance vehicles to use Porsche underpinnings, which may present an obstacle for Lamborghini. It is no secret that replacements to the Aventador and Huracan are in the works and were going to share the same monofuselage carbon fiber architecture.
The Aventador’s successor is tipped to land in 2022, and because the project is so far into development, VW has no choice but to let Lamborghini carry on with limited influence from Porsche. Consequently, the supercar will utilize two electric motors at the front axle, batteries in the center, and a naturally-aspirated V12 engine combined with a dual-clutch Getrag transmission and a third e-motor behind the seats. All up, it could deliver more than 1000 hp.
Things, however, could get interesting with the next-generation Huracan. If Porsche does indeed take ownership of the marque by early next year, it may have time to overhaul Lamborghini’s entry-level model.
For the past little while, the company has been developing the next Huracan around the same architecture as the Aventador’s successor. While there’s a chance this may still happen, it is also possible that Porsche, Audi, and Lamborghini will create a new aluminum-intensive modular platform to be used by sports cars throughout the VW family.

Lamborghini has flourished under Volkswagen Group and the Sant'Agata Bolognese is now doing better than ever. Fueled by the immense (and predictable) success of the Urus SUV, the iconic Italian performance brand will remain under Audi's full control as it prepares to embrace an electrified future. Despite reports about receiving an offer valued at $9.2 billion to sell the fabled supercar marque, parent company Audi says Lambo is not switching hands.
Autocar along with Automobilwoche, the German affiliate of Automotive News Europe, both published reports about Swiss investment group Quantum Group AG making an offer to buy the company founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini in 1963. A spokesperson for Audi has now told AN that "Lamborghini is not for sale," adding "this is not a subject of any discussion within the group."
As a refresher, Quantum Group allegedly wanted to buy everything from the Lamborghini name to the factory and even the motorsport operations. The letter of intent reportedly included a five-year supplier agreement with Audi and a guarantee to maintain the existing workforce for up to five years. A new development center was also mentioned, which would've added 850 new jobs.
While Lamborghini will remain underneath the VW Group's large umbrella, it could be a different story for another performance brand from the German automotive conglomerate. Rimac could play an important role in Bugatti's future as Porsche CEO and member of the management board of parent Volkswagen AG, Oliver Blume, admitted earlier this year the Croatian electric hypercar marque could be involved.
There are actually rumors saying Rimac is buying Bugatti, but nothing is official at this point. Meanwhile, Porsche is increasing its stake in Rimac to 24 percent, and that might have something to do with a potential tie-up with Molsheim. A final decision regarding the path Bugatti will take is going to be made in the coming weeks or months.

Volkswagen and its former leader, the late Ferdinand Piëch, had a habit of snapping up car companies almost solely because it could. One of those was Lamborghini, but now, according to a new report, VW may or may not offload Lamborghini for many billions.
Autocar has the scoop, which says a €7.5 billion offer was made in recent weeks. There is a Piëch on the periphery, because there must be. There is also something European about all the layers at work here.
Lamborghini joins Bugatti in a gray zone of will-it-or-won’t-it-be-sold, as VW has taken a long extended look at Piëch’s empire and thought to itself that maybe it doesn’t need to own multiple supercar companies. Still, a spokesman for Audi, which owns Lamborghini and is, itself, owned by the Volkswagen Group, insisted to Autocar that Lamborghini is “not for sale,” which is what companies usually say up until the moment they are sold.
The offer also sounds like it wants to make Lamborghini more of a luxury brand thing, like how Ferrari makes cars but is almost more a luxury lifestyle brand these days. Lamborghini’s enthusiast fans won’t have much interest in that, but that is also how Lamborghini can cash in.
Anyway, VW is holding on to Bugatti for now, and so it might yet with Lamborghini, too, as Ferdinand Piëch’s legacy apparently isn’t that easy to unwind.

The non-binding offer, made in a letter of intent sent to the Volkswagen Group earlier this month, sets out terms for the purchase of Automobili Lamborghini by Quantum Group AG.
The newly established Zurich-based holding company has formed a consortium with London-based investment firm Centricus Asset Management with the aim of creating what it describes as a “technology and lifestyle investment platform” under the working title Outlook 2030.
Quantum Group AG is represented in the acquisition offer for Lamborghini by Rea Stark, a co-founder of Piech Automotive, the Zurich-based company behind the Piëch Mark Zero GT revealed at the 2019 Geneva motor show.
Also among Piëch Automotive executives are Anton Piëch, son of former Volkswagen Group chairman Ferdinand Piëch, and ex-Porsche CEO Matthias Müller. However, it is not known at this stage if they are involved in the acquisition offer.

After a very challenging 2020, filled with production stops and all kinds of restrictions, the automotive sector has started recovering, with most companies posting record sales in the first half of the year. Lamborghini is among them, with an impressive 37% boost over the same period of 2020.
9 photos
In other words, the Italian automaker managed to deliver 4,852 vehicles in the first six months of 2021, making it “the best half-year ever”. The number also represents a 6.6% increase over the first half of 2019, or the pre-pandemic era.
Unsurprisingly, the Urus held the top spot when it came to the customers’ preferences. The super SUV, which is the Raging Bull’s second high-rider, after the LM002 nicknamed the Rambo Lambo, brought in 2,796 orders, or more than half of the entire sales posted by Lamborghini from January to the end of June. Sales of the Urus went up by 35%, and it was followed by the Huracan, with 1,532 examples sold, a 46% jump, and the Aventador, which accounted for 524 sales, up 21%.
“Lamborghini’s course is set for a period of great transformation, where technological innovation and sustainability will go hand in hand with a focus on maximum product performance and loyalty to the brand’s DNA,” said President and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, adding that they “will invest over €1.5 billion ($1.77 billion) by 2024” in the “future electrification of our product range”.
Last week, Lamborghini officially bid farewell to the V12-powered supercar by unveiling the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae. The next generation flagship supercar will be electrified from 2023, the car firm has announced.
The stunning Huracan STO, with its Super Trofeo EVO DNA, will hit the market this summer, and Lamborghini has confirmed that they will unveil “another new product” shortly, so we’ll definitely keep an eye out for it.
