Kia: EV3 News

https://www.netcarshow.com/kia/2023-ev3_concept/

The Kia Concept EV3 represents the brand's vision for an electric compact CUV that effortlessly blends practicality with the sheer joy of driving. It offers users the technology, practicality and design of Kia's flagship SUV, the EV9, in a compact and accessible form. While those qualities might seem incompatible to some, delivering creative, groundbreaking design solutions by fusing seemingly contrasting sources lies at the heart of Kia's 'Opposites United' design philosophy. In the case of the Concept EV3, Kia's designers have drawn a high degree of inspiration from the 'Joy for Reason' pillar of the design philosophy.

"Joy can be seen as the antithesis of reason. One is a positive, emotional response, and the other is derived from logic. When the two are combined, though, their contrasting qualities merge into a powerful and highly impactful design," Karim Habib, Executive Vice President, and Head of Kia Global Design Center, said. "With the Concept EV3, the 'Joy for Reason' influence is evident in the contrasting qualities of a robust body combined with a dynamic silhouette. In addition, the unexpected treatment of volumes and graphics simultaneously interlock with each other, creating a logical yet emotional design."

The design treatment of the cabin, with the windscreen pushed forward and the long sloping roofline, creates a unique silhouette. The robust architecture of the squared wheel arches, cut with asymmetrical angles, results in an unexpected logic and a strong impression. This, in turn, is contrasted by the wrap-around windscreen and disconnected C pillar, which link the glasshouse surfaces and give the roof a floating effect.

Inside, the Concept EV3 blends exceptional practicality with transformative cabin ambience and design. As with the vehicles' exterior, the 'Joy for Reason' pillar plays a fundamental influencing role, merging seemingly opposing values to execute a precise product design language, resulting in a cabin that feels joyful to travel in, while providing ample space to support an active lifestyle once occupants reach their destination.

Its cabin also provides an environment that promotes emotional wellbeing. Enhanced by soft mood lighting, the compelling, ultra-clean shape and surface of the dashboard, crafted through exquisitely refined character lines, creates an expansive visual sense to offer up the possibility of boundless opportunities on every journey.

Advanced ergonomic seat design and environmentally friendly materials, in keeping with the brand's ethos of achieving sustainability at scale, combine with mini tables that rotate in length, position, and angle. In conjunction with the movement of the seats, the tables support four customer experience-enhancing modes - Focus, Social, Refreshing and Storage. The folding bench-type rear seat is equally flexible and can be effortlessly folded upward, allowing for storing bulky luggage such as electric scooters and bicycles.

The electric car market seems to be cooling down after years of growth. However, Kia's EV onslaught is proceeding as originally scheduled with more models on the way. The next in line will be the brand's cheapest zero-emission offering: The EV3. It was shown in concept form last November at the Los Angeles Auto Show and now it's almost ready for the limelight.

New images show the production-ready electric crossover ahead of its full debut on May 23. The angular styling with upright front and rear ends featuring quirky lights we saw last year hasn't changed all that much. We're willing to bet the EV3 will look 90 percent like the concept, with the remaining 10 percent represented by bigger side mirrors and the addition of door handles.

Kia is likely to tweak the bumpers a bit and offer different wheels, but the essence of the concept's design will be carried over. Overall, the styling is likely to be a downsized version of the new EV5/EV5 GT, which isn't coming to the United States.

Although these teasers focus solely on the exterior, the Concept EV3 bared it all in images showing a minimalist cabin with close to no physical controls whatsoever. The subsequent production version is unlikely to be this pared back, especially since Korean brands still (thankfully!) put old-school buttons and knobs in their latest cars.

Although it will inherit the E-GMP platform from the bigger EV6 and EV9, the newcomer is unlikely to feature an 800-volt architecture. We're hearing it'll use a 400-volt setup instead, much like the EV5. Consequently, don't expect ultra-fast charging capabilities. The not-for-America EV5 promises 30 to 80 percent charging in 27 minutes whereas the EV6 can do 10 percent to 80 percent in 18 minutes.

Since Kia showed the concept in LA, it would make sense to bring the EV3 to the United States. When the crossover debuted, global product team leader Min Woo Park told our sister site InsideEVs: "We're still studying that." Last month, Automotive News reported the model could cost around $32,000. To qualify for the full $7,500 incentive, it would have to be built in North America.

AN reports the EV3 might be assembled at Kia's plant in Monterrey, Mexico where the new K4 is also going to be made. Presuming it'll qualify for federal tax credit, that would lower the starting price to $24,500. Even if it's not going to be made locally, the tax credit will be available if leased.

If you look at the Kia roster, the South Korean automaker has one of the most comprehensive electrified lineups among legacy automakers – in America, it sells the Niro Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid, Sportage Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid, Sorento Hybrid, and Plug-In Hybrid, plus the zero-emissions Niro EV, EV6, and EV9. Elsewhere around the world, it also has models like the Soul EV or EV5! No worries, they are expanding the offer, not contracting it based on the perceived EV sales slowdown – so the company has officially presented the promised EV3 compact crossover SUV with the first official photos and details.

The dedicated compact EV crossover SUV is built on the well-known E-GMP architecture, and while the EV6 was recently refreshed with a bold new attitude, the little EV3 clearly has set its sights on the EV9 as an EV role model. According to Kia, by "significantly exceeding customers' expectations, the EV3 will broaden the appeal and elevate the perception of EV SUVs." The exterior design includes the latest reinterpretation of Kia's Tiger Face design with a new Star Map signature lighting concept for the vertically-stacked DRLs.

The profile is of a classic crossover SUV, and the EV3 measures just 4,300 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, 1,560 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. That's 169.29, 72.83, 61.41, and 105.51 inches, by the way. The powertrain is based on a front-wheel drive setup with fourth-gen battery technology. The E-GMP-based EV3 deploys a 150 kW (201 hp) electric motor with 283 Nm (209 lb-ft), allowing for a sprint to 100 kph (62 mph) in 7.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 170 kph (106 mph) while the battery pack has two ratings - 58.3 kWh for the EV3 Standard and 81.4 kWh for EV3 Long Range.

The exterior is available in nine colors, including the newly added Aventurine Green and Terracotta; as always, there's a GT-line model for a "more rugged and adventurous appearance," and the interior design is inspired by nature. The cockpit also has a wide selection of trim options inspired by Air, Earth, and Water elements, recycled fabrics, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5-inch climate control panel, and another 12.3-inch infotainment display.

While rather bulky in appearance, the Kia EV3 has an "impressively low drag coefficient" of 0.263Cd, and the Battery Management Unit (BMU) and Cell Monitoring Unit (CMU) technologies try to make the best use of the battery packs, enabling the EV3 Long Range to boast an estimated range of up to 600 km (373 miles) across the WLTP cycle. More so, the company boasts that a 10 to 80% SoC recharging session can take as little as 31 minutes.

Kia has revealed full details of the new Kia EV3, the company's dedicated compact EV SUV. With its combination of bold design, innovative technology, and groundbreaking features, the EV3 sets new standards never before seen in the compact EV SUV sector.

Drawing on Kia's advanced technology and customer-focused values of the brand's larger, multi-award-winning EV9 SUV, the EV3 carves out its own identity. It brings a unique, immersive experience to the compact EV SUV sector. By significantly exceeding customers' expectations, the EV3 will broaden the appeal and elevate the perception of EV SUVs.

"By providing groundbreaking design, an industry-leading electric drivetrain, and practical, innovative lifestyle solutions, the EV3 aims to extend Kia's exceptional EV SUV experience to a wider audience. With a WLTP driving range of up to 600km and fast-charging capability, the EV3 addresses common concerns about electric vehicles. It will reassure those who may have been hesitant to make the switch to electric mobility and will lead the mass adoption of EVs," said Ho Sung Song, President and CEO at Kia.

Exterior Design: A bold and progressive statement

Kia's 'Opposites United' design philosophy, which harnesses the creative tension generated by the divergent values of nature and modernity to deliver a harmonious whole, was central to the formation of the Kia EV3's progressive, dynamic, and dramatic design. The philosophy's influence elevates the EV3's emotional feel and ambience, seamlessly combining dynamic aesthetics with thoughtful functionality.

"The EV3 embodies our design philosophy perfectly - a combination of playful design combined with thoughtful functionality. Though compact, the inspiring exterior envelops an open interior space that emphasises restorative relaxation for every journey. Its future-facing aesthetic is further emboldened by the choice of daring colours; inside, the spacious cabin and the incorporation of new organic materials express a youthful sense of energy and playfulness," commented Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design.

The EV3 exudes a highly assertive presence. At the front, vertical headlamps positioned at the extremes of the clean-surface facial area contribute to the creation of a wide, ultra-confident stance. A sense of ample spatial volume combines with differentiated graphics and a muscular appearance that harmonises with the entire body.

A new, robust interpretation of Kia's iconic Tiger Face design incorporates the brand's latest Star Map signature lighting concept. Arranged vertically, the Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) further emphasise the Tiger Face design to project a highly confident character.

In profile, the EV3 projects an aura of exceptional strength, combined with a powerful impression of agility and dynamism. The long, sloping, sleek roofline seamlessly transitions into a hatchback-style tailgate, further portraying the highly technical body design. The dynamic silhouette and voluminous cabin deliver a spacious interior, while the unique interlocking volumes and graphics further accentuate its innovative nature.

The rear aspect completes the EV3's high-tech form language and purposeful stance. The thick black trim line emphasising the connection between the SUV's sturdy C-pillar design and the dynamic roofline further enhances the vehicle's sense of strength. The simplified, geometric rear lamp design seamlessly integrates with the rear glass, framing a futuristic tailgate design with a wide, technical, and sleek appearance inspired by the Tiger Face Star Map front lighting signature.

Kia offers the EV3 in nine body colours - two of which have been created exclusively for the new model: Aventurine Green and Terracotta.

The EV3 'GT-line' expresses an even more rugged and adventurous appearance. At the front, the car's contrasting lower body trim further enhances the dynamic design, while the integrated lower bumper creates a sportier, more refined look. Technical vertical and horizontal graphics express a bolder image in contrast with the car's large black-clad areas. This treatment is also reflected at the rear, with a characteristic triangle wing configuration on the lower bumper, creating a similarly aggressive effect.

Interior design: Nature-inspired aesthetic to enhance wellbeing

The EV3's interior design offers a spacious cabin that comfortably accommodates five people. Kia has created a highly functional and effective cabin that exudes an appealing living space-like ambience, designed to be enjoyed by occupants on every journey and when the vehicle is charging.

An elegant centre console incorporates a sliding table and storage area. The lower area can store drinks, snacks, and even small backpacks, while personal electronic items - such as laptops and tablets - can be placed on the table when the vehicle is stationary.

Along with multi-adjustable ambient lighting and ultra-comfortable seats, which incorporate a fold-back relaxation mode, the sliding table enables occupants to enjoy maximum relaxation when parked. With a 25-litre frunk and a 460-litre rear load capacity, the EV3 offers the largest luggage space in its class. The adjustable two-tier luggage board provides over 140mm of load height flexibility, making it practical for activities like family camping trips.

A near-30-inch combined widescreen display - including a 12.3-inch cluster, a five-inch air-conditioning panel, and another 12.3-inch AVN display - incorporates seamless touch operation of the climate control functionality and provides clear graphics and intuitive information to the driver. The screen also extends to the centre of the dashboard, giving the front-seat passenger access to entertainment and navigation features.

Many of the EV3's functions, including drive mode, cruise control, entertainment, and navigation, can be accessed and controlled by a simple touch of the steering wheel buttons. A seamless row of buttons below the central screen intuitively operates various functions like mapping, media, and vehicle system configuration.

Customers have a wide selection of interior colours, materials, and trim finishes inspired by Air, Earth, and Water elements. Options include Subtle Grey, Warm Grey, Blue, while Onyx Black is available exclusively on 'GT-line' trim.

As with every new Kia, the EV3 incorporates various sustainable items to accelerate sustainability at scale. Recycled fabric is applied to the dashboard and door trims to create an intimate and home-like ambience. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is among the most easily recycled plastics in the world, features in numerous areas of the interior, including the seats, headliner, door armrests, garnish, floor mats, and luggage board.

Electric drivetrain: Exemplary range and ultra-fast charging

The EV3 measures 4,300mm long, 1,850mm wide, 1,560mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,680mm. It features a state-of-the-art front-wheel drive electric powertrain based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), utilising Kia's fourth-generation battery technology. The EV3 Standard model is offered exclusively with a 58.3kWh battery, while the EV3 Long Range variant is fitted with an 81.4kWh battery.

Both models utilise a 150kW/283Nm electric motor, which enables a best 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds. The EV3's maximum speed is 170km/h.

"The Kia EV3 has been designed and engineered to meet the needs of customers who want a car that matches their sustainability values but do not want to compromise their practical everyday needs. It provides one of the best living and luggage sizes in its class, while our flexible E-GMP architecture delivers a best-in-class AER driving range. With the EV3, Kia has redefined the EV SUV segment to create a compact model that is comprehensively equipped with innovative technology and features," said Spencer Cho, Vice President and Head of Global Business Planning.

As with the larger EV9 SUV, Kia's engineers have left no stone unturned in the pursuit of optimum efficiency with the EV3. It features enhanced body aerodynamics, incorporating a full 3D undercover to deliver an impressively low drag coefficient of 0.263Cd. State-of-the-art Battery Management Unit (BMU) and Cell Monitoring Unit (CMU) technology ensures the 58.3kWh and 81.4kWh High-Voltage Battery Systems use energy as efficiently as possible.

The EV3 Long Range provides an estimated range of up to 600km (WLTP). This impressive flexibility gives those taking their first foray into electric mobility complete confidence to tackle long journeys. When the EV3's battery eventually needs replenishing, occupants can relax in the comfort of the living space-like interior as Kia's advanced Vehicle Charging Management System enables the battery to charge from 10-80 per cent in approximately 31 minutes.

Large electric SUV technology and safety in the compact sector

Kia has equipped the EV3 with a raft of ultra-advanced safety, driving, convenience and charging features usually reserved for the large EV SUV sector. This creates an enhanced ownership proposition that significantly exceeds what is currently offered in the existing compact SUV sector and provides a transformative and superior driving experience compared with Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles.

The vehicle's Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology includes Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (eDTVC) to ensure the EV3 transfers its power to the road smoothly and stably. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist provide additional support and reassurance for drivers on every journey, no matter how long or short.

Kia's Remote Smart Parking Assist enables owners to manoeuvre the EV3 confidently and safely into and out of tight spaces without the driver having to sit in the vehicle. Bringing further value to the compact EV SUV sector, the 12-inch Head-up Display (HUD) projects information on the windshield to minimise driver distraction.

The EV3 is the first model to benefit from Kia's new i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking technology, which allows the driver to adjust the level of regenerative braking according to their preference, enabling one-pedal driving. This maximises energy efficiency and noticeably reduces fatigue on long drives, enabling the vehicle to travel further on a single charge and making the journey more engaging, enjoyable, and comfortable.

With the EV3, Kia is the first manufacturer to bring Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging to the compact EV SUV segment, giving occupants the freedom and flexibility to power external devices such as laptops, small fridges, coffee machines or hairdryers. Kia's Digital Key 2.0 enables customers to avoid the hassle of carrying around physical keys by unlocking and starting the EV3 using only their smartphone or smartwatch. They can also conveniently share the EV3's digital key with friends and family.

Delivering new levels of innovative technology and digital connectivity

To complement the transformative experience provided by the living space-like interior, Kia has equipped the EV3 with a holistic suite of connectivity and entertainment features. Most of these are designed to be enjoyed safely while the vehicle is on the move, while others can be experienced exclusively when the car is stationary and Park is selected.

Kia provides various streamable content through its Premium Streaming service, delivered via LG's Automotive Content Platform (ACP) powered by webOS. Kia also offers arcade games, allowing occupants to enjoy in-car gaming. The immersive experience is further enhanced by the sound quality of the EV3's Harman Kardon audio system, which delivers an experience akin to a home cinema.

"Cars are no longer just a means of transportation but an extension of our 'life space.' Developed with numerous customer-centric innovations, the EV3 offers our customers an immersive content consumption experience with our premium streaming services and class-leading sound system," commented Chang Sung Ryu, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Brand & CX. "Providing the ability to digitally customise the EV3's interior through the Kia Connect Store in the same way one would personalise a smartphone, alongside the introduction of Kia's AI Assistant these examples further highlight how the EV3 responds to customers' ever-evolving needs."

The EV3 enables occupants to personalise their vehicle's dashboard and infotainment system with NBA team-inspired Display Themes. These themes showcase the teams' colours, graphics, and animations and are easily accessible through the digital Kia Connect Store. Kia plans to expand the selection of display themes in the future, providing even more options for customisation.

The EV3 is the first EV model to feature Kia's AI Assistant technology, which recently made its debut on the Kia K4 compact saloon. This technology provides customers with new and innovative ways to interact with and control the vehicle's features directly and intuitively, enhancing convenience and optimising productivity during their time in the vehicle. This human-like assistant will always support and inspire users as they explore the world. Kia will soon commence the rollout of these features across other EV models, starting with the EV3.

With the integration of generative AI, Kia's voice assistant is now even more capable. Generative AI comprehends complex contexts through natural language understanding, enabling it to converse naturally with users. https://www.netcarshow.com/kia/2027-ev3_us-version/

The all-new 2027 Kia EV3 made its North American debut at the 2026 New York International Auto Show, setting a new benchmark as the most attainable model in Kia's growing electric vehicle lineup, which includes the popular EV6 and EV9 models. The EV3 is an entry EV SUV that offers many of the advanced amenities of an EV9 in a smart and approachable package. Ultimately, it is designed to deliver efficient, all-electric performance with a compact footprint.

"The Kia EV3 represents a bold step forward in our commitment to making electric mobility accessible to more Americans," said Eric Watson, vice president, sales operations, Kia America. "With its striking geometric design inspired by EV9, advanced technology, and spacious interior, the EV3 brings the innovation of our EV lineup into an entry EV SUV tailored for the way U.S. customers live, work, and travel."

The EV3 is tailored to meet the lifestyle and usage of both younger and older buyers, from millennials to baby boomers, centered on universally appealing attributes such as affordability, utility, and maneuverability. Based on the 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV3 features an energy-dense battery allowing up to a Kia-estimated 320 miles of range on certain trims with fast charging capabilities.

Right-sized for those who welcome the invitation to go electric, the 2027 Kia EV3 will be available in five trim levels: Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT. It will go on sale in late 2026.

Engaging on the Outside

Guided by Kia's global Opposites United design philosophy, the EV3 juxtaposes contrasts found in nature with those of the human and industrial world. As such, it shares the same fundamental design language as Kia's pioneering EV6 and EV9 models.

Upon approach, the first thing to catch the eye is the star map DRL design, Kia's signature lighting concept with standard small cube LED projector head lamps. The vertically arranged lights emphasize the EV3's broad front-end, while the horizontally configured lights underscore the latest interpretation of Kia's Tiger Face, giving the EV3 an expressive and futuristic look. Overall, the EV3's front-facing persona exudes EV9 like boldness and confidence in a concisely wrapped package.

The aerodynamic profile combines short overhangs and a sloping roof that gives the illusion that it's floating as it moves rearward. Flush-type roof rails are standard (bridge-type roof rails are optional). The roofline leads back to the combination taillamps that reflect the Star Map lighting design found up front. The hidden rear door handles lend to the EV3's clean side view similar to EV9.

The EV3's planted stance meets the pavement with either standard 17-inch or available 19-inch alloy wheels wearing all-season tires. Compared to the base trims, the EV3 GT-Line and GT bring exclusive design elements to create more visually striking packages. The GT gets unique 19-inch wheels and eye-catching green brake caliper covers that match other exterior and interior neon green accents.

And on certain trims, a special Nightfall black appearance package, specifically imagined for the U.S., will be available. Nightfall will include unique gloss black wheels, black emblems, bridge-type roof rails, and a unique dark gray interior color to exude a more serious character.

Space, Comfort and Utility Inside

In the same way that 'Opposites United' defines the exterior of the EV3, Kia's unique design language brings nature and humanity together on the inside. Here, designers applied durable materials while still achieving a rich look and feel.

The home-like cabin is headlined by an expansive standard panoramic display consisting of dual 12.3-inch displays and a 5-inch climate display. GT-Line includes a three-spoke steering wheel, metal pedals, and off-white 2-tone seats, while the GT model also gets sport bucket front seats and neon green accented seatbelts, steering wheel, and interior trim.

The driver and front passenger area features a clean and open layout appealing to those who value simplicity and practicality. An open center console with retractable cupholders allows for flexible storage for larger items and features both open and covered storage compartments for the flexibility to meet customer needs.

The cabin experience is further elevated with standard dual-zone Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC), optional heated and ventilated front seats, and optional multicolor ambient mood lighting. Rear seat passengers can enjoy standard features such as seat backs that recline up to 39 degrees and air vents that provide a restful atmosphere.

In the cargo area, EV3 delivers on roominess and utility thanks to 60/40 flat folding rear seats, a generously sized cargo area with 56.5 cubic feet of capacity behind the first row and 26.1 cubic feet of capacity behind the second row, a standard two-position luggage board with underfloor storage, and a 0.9 cubic foot frunk, a feature not commonly found in this class. An optional Smart Power Liftgate is also available, which automatically opens by way of Smart Key for easy load-in of groceries or gear. Opening height and speed of the liftgate can be set through the infotainment system.

Electrified Power and Performance

Underpinned by Kia's dedicated 400V E-GMP platform, the Kia EV3 is powered by a choice of two batteries options: a standard-range 58.3 kWh battery (Light) or a long-range 81.4 kWh battery (Wind, Land, GT-Line, GT). The smaller of the two batteries provides power to the front-wheels only, while the larger battery makes all-wheel-drive (AWD) possible (optional on Wind and Land; standard on GT-Line and GT). As far as all-electric range goes, the 58.3 kWh battery allows up to a Kia-estimated 220 miles and the 81.4 kWh battery allows up to a Kia-estimated 320 miles (FWD).

On the performance side, the EV3 GT outputs 288 horsepower (up from 261 hp on AWD EV3 models). Available Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) and Active Sound Design (ASD) further enhance driving engagement and help deliver a more spirited on-road experience.

The EV3's driving stability, ride comfort and responsiveness are the result of a Macpherson strut suspension at the front and a multi-link geometry at the rear. The EV3 GT benefits from a sport-tuned suspension and steering. Aside from ride and handling prowess, advanced chassis development was aimed at reducing NVH. Engineers added sound absorption throughout the body and applied damping materials to increase quietness for highway and around-town driving.

To further enhance efficiency and performance, the EV3's aerodynamics have been improved. Kia expanded use of lightweight body materials, employed aero wheels, integrated a front bumper active air flap and installed a full underbody cover. The result is a drag coefficient of 0.275 Cd.

When it comes to DC fast charging, the EV3's battery can power up from 10 to 80 percent charge in an estimated 29 minutes for the 58.3 kWh (Light) battery and 31 minutes for the 81.4 kWh (Wind, Land, GT-Line, GT) battery.

For ease of use, there's a native NACS charging port on the front passenger side of the EV3. And with the standard Kia Plug and Charge (PnC) feature, the EV3 can now charge seamlessly by pulling up to a compatible charging station and plugging in. This process only requires a one-time login and setup through Kia Charge Pass in the Kia Access app.

Kia's innovative i-Pedal 3.0 system helps drivers to smoothly control the speed of the vehicle and can bring it to a complete stop using only the accelerator pedal. This feature works in tandem with EV3's adaptive Smart Regeneration System function to help recapture energy otherwise lost when brakes are applied. The i-Pedal 3.0 system also now works in reverse and the EV3's i-Pedal memory function reverts to the last-used i-Pedal setting when the car restarts.

Taking practicality to new heights, the EV3 brings available Vehicle to Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the vehicle to provide power from its battery to compatible external devices. This can mean everything from powering a laptop, brewing coffee, charging up an e-bike and countless other applications. V2L opens the door to activities and projects that may otherwise require a cumbersome external power source.

Beyond V2L, EV3 also brings available Vehicle to Home (V2H) functionality via a Wallbox bidirectional charging system, which can reduce utility costs by providing power back to the home during peak energy usage times. V2H can also help keep parts of the home powered during outages (requires power recovery unit in addition to bidirectional charger).

Packed with Convenience, Tech and Connectivity Features

The EV3 brings together smart and innovative content to elevate the everyday user experience. This starts with Kia's available Digital Key 2.0. This feature transforms your compatible smartphone or mobile device into a virtual car key, enabling locking/unlocking doors, powering the vehicle on, and sharing vehicle access with others remotely via text.

The EV3 features a standard panoramic display comprised of a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 5-inch climate display and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Together, these elements form the core of Kia's connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC). Setting a new benchmark for in-car content, the Kia-pioneered system which first arrived with the EV9, offers robust connectivity and entertainment features that can be enhanced remotely through over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Available through the Kia Connect store, Entertainment and Data Services (EDS) is an enhancement to Kia's existing music streaming and Wi-Fi hotspot services and now includes available video streaming through Netflix and YouTube, in addition to gaming and productivity apps.

The ccNC system also allows drivers to personalize the cockpit with available themed dashboard functions and captivating graphics representing some of their favorite sports and entertainment brands, including Disney, Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar, Star Wars, FIFA World Cup 2026, and the NBA, with more on the way. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard and connect seamlessly to the infotainment system using the smartphone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities.

The EV3 owner can enjoy a more immersive experience with their vehicle by way of Kia's highly intuitive, voice-recognition-based AI Assistant. This system uses machine learning to achieve a higher level of organic interaction between driver and vehicle, which can deepen the human-to-machine interaction over time.

Other available convenience, tech and connectivity features include a 12-inch head-up display (HUD), a premium eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, wireless smartphone charging, 360° Surround-View Monitor (SVM), and MyQ Connected Garage, an intuitive garage door management system that brings peace of mind by addressing the question, "Did I close my garage door?"

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Driving Convenience

Aside from eight standard airbags, including rear side airbags, the EV3 offers an impressive suite of ADAS systems that support driving and collision avoidance. Of those, Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA) Assist is among the most noteworthy, capable of applying automatic emergency braking in certain circumstances to help avoid a collision or reduce the impact of a crash.

Two applications of FCA are standard FCA Junction Turning (FCA-JT) and available FCA Junction Crossing (FCA-JC). FCA-JT can help avoid a collision with a detected oncoming vehicle when turning left at an intersection with the turn signal active. FCA-JC monitors the roadway when driving straight across an intersection and is designed to detect vehicles approaching on the left or right side. Both systems are designed to initiate audible and visual alerts followed by automatic emergency braking, in certain circumstances.

Other key driving convenience systems available on the EV3 include Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), Reverse Parking Collision Avoidance Assist (PCA-R) and Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA).
