Infiniti Q50S to ditch electronic steering
From here: http://www.leftlanenews.com/infiniti...#ixzz3BoQpClEC
Infiniti has reportedly confirmed plans to drop the electronic steering system from its upcoming Q50S.
In response to enthusiast criticism over the feel of the drive-by-wire steering in the current Q50 variants, the company has decided to switch back to a hydraulic system rather than attempting to tune the electronic assist to provide a similar feedback.
"Some members of the enthusiast community, including the media, suggested the car could benefit with enhanced steering feel, as in more engagement similar to the former G Sedan Sport," Infiniti product-planning head Keith St. Clair told Car and Driver.
Engineers are already said to have taken the steering rack from a G37 and outfitted it in a Q50S, along with a retuned exhaust that sounds closer to the G.
Both modifications have reportedly received a thumbs up from company leadership, with availability expected for the 2016 refresh.

Infiniti/Nissan listens to its customers!!!
That alone put it 1 level above Acura!
now bring back the 6mt with a Facelift, they will be back in the game!

To me..the way that Acura is integrating the grill..I'm fine with it. I know many aren't still happy about the current design, but at least they listened to criticism and toned it down a lot.

To me that sounds like they did a half ass job if they actually listened to the criticism.

hahaha well I think those go hand in hand? I mean if a car is receiving a lot of complaints, most likely it would not do well in the market...the Q50 i similar, last month, we are looking at less than 2500 units sold. The G was around 4000 units/month.

That just proved a point that we are trying desperately to make.
While most of the car buyers are clueless about cars, the 10% of us do have some influence in reality.
Because word of mouth is still the best marketing tool.
If a car is good both looks and performance, the word will spread very quickly.
i don't think it is a coincidence that most of the cars that we didn't like have proven to be sales failures (in Acura's case, that is most of its cars). While the car itself might be good (ie, RLX) but it is not really relevant as a player in the game.

So, here's Jalopnik's write-up and experience up-close going against Vettel in the Eau Rouge per the video from above.

The more I look at it, the more I think it is gorgeous...sure, the name Oh-Rooj is still kinda weird...but, dayum...if it performs as well as it does, they can call it Poopbutt McPissington and I'd still love it.

called Eau Rouge because of the Eau Rouge corner in Spa

I look at the Eau Rouge and I am reminded about the Mugen Legend Max. I think of what could have been.
Difference is that Infiniti will build this and once again, Acura will be left in the dust performance-wise.
Good on Infiniti!
We need enthusiasts at the helm at Honda and Acura again, people willing to take risks.

Currently Post-Acura
Here's some info from the Q50 forum on the 2016 models. Nothing official yet, but theres a post after it confirming it from someone that currently works at a dealer (I don't anymore).
I heard some awesome news from a reliable source!
The 3.0tt engine will make its debut in showrooms January 2016 inside a new "high output" Q50S. The car will make around 400 hp. The high output version will also be available in Iridium Blue and will feature special 19" rims.
Going forward, the 3.7 Q50S's will sport a silver 'S' on the trunk while the red 'S' is now reserved for the high output model. Other features include adjustable suspension. I don't know if this is just for the sport model or if adjustable suspension will be available on the rest of the lineup as well. A new accessory that will be available is a new sport muffler with gatling gun-like holes around it that actually will serve a function. As far as option package changes go, DAS will move to the Technology Package. There will now be a Driver Assistance Package with BSW, Predictive Forward Collision Warning w/ Emergency braking, F&R Parking sensors, Around View Monitor w/ MOD, BCI w/ Cross Traffic Alert, and Rain sensing wipers. These features are part of the Technology Package on today's models.

OK. If they're publishing stuff on US News, I guess I can come out and talk about this.
What hunter posted is 99% accurate.
We'll have four engine options total. The first to arrive will be the 2.0t four-banger making something like 208hp. Expect to see it in January. It has a different steering system than the other cars. Electric/hydraulic? Not positive. At nearly the same time, we'll get one or two "HO" / "Red" versions. This is the 3.0 twin turbo with the 400hp specs and a Red S on the trunk. Sometime between Feb-April we'll get the 300hp turbo 3.0 plus the hybrid. Hybrid stays almost exactly the same - except there will no longer be a sport hybrid.
DAS becomes a stand-alone option and is a pre-requisite for the tech package. Tech package gets you active lane control, intelligent cruise, wiggly headlights, fancy climate control, Distance Control Assist and cool seat belts.
There's a Driver Assistance Package that gives you predictive collision warning, blind spot warning, around view monitor, back up collision intervention, parking sensors and those stupid rain sensing wipers. I expect this will be the package we sell a lot of. IMO, this package is worth every penny it costs.
I heard we get Remote Engine Start!!!!! No word on cooled seats. No word on rowing your own gears (don't bank on it).

all the other info are all BS.
Good to know there is 2.0T, 3.0T and 3.0TT... forget about the Hybrid
I just hope they add more than just a Red S to the exterior on the 3.0TT tho....

Too bad about the manual (un)availability. Sounds like a good 335i alternative.

According to Infiniti the camera is making the car look distorted and odd in the front. Official photos will be out in January after the Detroit Auto Show.
#473
I like it. And the interior's nice too. Not Lexus nice, but nice nonetheless.
