Canabilizing M sales?
Infiniti is not planning on introducing this generation of M to the European market (that's a fact, as far as I know). The M, being towards the end of its life cycle, will likely not receive the 3.7 liter V6 until the next iteration.
My educated guess regarding the 3.7 in the G: not wanting to make a weaker argument for a customer to upgrade to an M, my guess may be that they do not plan on introducing the 3.7L V6 to the G sedan until it can at least be offered in the M.
If the M is planning on a FMC in '10, then I would guess the G and the M will recieve this V6 in place of the 3.5.
That's my hunch.

hmm...from the article,
"V6 produces over 310PS and an impressive over 350Nm of torque"
280ps = 276hp, so 310ps is roughly 306hp. And 350Nm of torque, that's equal to 258lbft of torque. What's up with that? I know it says "over 310ps" and "over 350Nm" but still, there isn't much improvement in hp, and actually went down in torque ( I believe G35 in current form makes 306hp and 26xlbft of torque). Is it due to stricter emissions requirements in Europe? Anyways, 7-speed auto is nice, probably thanks to Aisin.

It's interesting to note that nearly every auto maker has used Jatco transmissions, with the notable exceptions of Honda, who makes their own transmissions, and Toyota, who has always used transmissions made by Aisin, a subsidiary of Toyota.

Too bad their transmissions blow.... they could spend money better by putting more engineering into their engines and creating more drivetrain platforms.

Boy, what a difference 8 years make.
Back in 2000, it was Acura/Honda who had the cool cars, TL-S, CL-S, s2000, Integra, Prelude, Civic SI, and the Accord coupe. While at Infiniti/Nissan didn't really have any exciting cars back then. The Altima was boring, there was no 300zx replacement yet, the Sentra was ugly, no Murano yet, and the only thing exciting at Nissan was the Maxima. In 2000, nothing excited me at Infiniti.
How could 2 companies go in opposite directions?

I think it's just that Nissan/Infiniti are making some cool cars as well, which kinda make it look as though Honda is not as cool before. But it's too bad that the CL-S and Integra are no longer being made...hopefully Honda will do something about it..
infinit's really upping the ante and you see a progression from model to model. you just can't say the same about acura.

Yea, I definitely see what you mean, Infiniti has made major improvement, while Acura/Honda hasn't been improving much. Hopefully they won't screw up the next TL!

i'm glad they didn't follow it.
is that G37 sedan sitting on 19's? nice...
