Needs 2 more doors IMO. It looks amazing as is, but if this is going to be Infiniti's flagship 2 more doors is essential. Competition wise it'll probably be 6 series price with Lambo performance.

Way to go photo shopping what was obviously several Aston Martin DB9 pictures. Is this thing even remotely hinted at by Infiniti, themselves?

No, it was not. These are pictures of a PS'd Aston Martin DBS & a V8 Vantage.
Besides the obvious lines of the current Astons, look at those mirrors.

The front & front-side images from the video are a DBS. That hood, the aggressive bumper & mirrors are obvious design cues from the Aston. The rear end is a photoshopped V8 Vantage. Again, the design, mirrors, and third tail light give it away.
I can't believe so many here think this is even remotely real.

Baby Infiniti Coupe in the Pipeline
As we probed one Nissan source for answers, we learned that while the new Z will land in showrooms in 2009, the Infiniti coupe will "turn up in concept car form at a motor show within the next year." And this new Infiniti will sit on the same platform as that employed by the Z. That's all Nissan would give away.
Whether the new coupe will debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show or the Geneva show in March, given that Infiniti has just launched in Europe, is unknown. But one thing we did confirm is that we will see the coupe on North American streets by late 2010, and in European showrooms soon after that.
From what we could gather, the new baby Infiniti two-door will rival the BMW Z4 and Porsche Cayman for size and will be a rear-wheel drive two-seater hardtop. But unlike its hard-core Nissan Z brother, the Infiniti will lean more toward the luxury end of the scale, with a softer ride and more leather.
Expect a 2.5-liter V6 for this coupe, which will be the smallest model in the Infiniti range.

Infinti version of the Nissan S16 ??
I'd have to guess it's a 128/135 Genesis Coupe type competitor...
That could be it too... really depends on the size and engine/hp....
Lots of rumors about rwd coupes out there... Toyota's Ae86 or supra, Nissans Silva, etc...
Wonder if Honda/Acura will jump into the small rwd coupe market seeing that they don't have any RWD cars anymore (no nsx and s2k gone after 2009).

I shoot people
on one hand, it's "Youtube"... where they have videos that are saying space aliens built the pyramids
...
on the other hand... I can see Nissan/Infiniti putting this out there unofficially and anonymously as a "feeler" and see people's reactions (like AZ's). Plus... its free exposure

From the video i think it will be competing with the Lexus LF-A. With the economy where it is the only people that have money to spend are those with a lot of it, so i see a lot more cars in this price range hitting the market soon. I know Edmund's said it would come with a 2.5 v6 as the smallest model, but if they throw the GT-R in it they can ask for a lot more money. And i only see the grill resembling an Aston, a look that a lot of coupes have already borrowed. Great looking Car!!!

2009 Geneva Auto Show Teaser: Infiniti Essence Concept
GENEVA — Infiniti has released a teaser image of a new concept it plans to unveil at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show: the Essence. The vehicle is a collaboration with Louis Vuitton, the French luxury-goods purveyor.
Nearly 13 years ago, Infiniti’s French parent, Renault, teamed with Vuitton on a show car called the Initiale, which was the forerunner of the Renault Vel Satis.
In fact, Vuitton’s connection with the transportation business dates back more than a century, according to the book Louis Vuitton: The Art of the Automobile, which notes that the manufacturer in the late 19th century provided custom-made trunks for the baskets of hot-air balloons. LV also has sponsored concours d’elegance for the past 20 years.
Back in the present, Vuitton is furnishing a bespoke set of luggage for the Infiniti Essence, in part to mark the 20th anniversary of the Infiniti brand.

That's got to be the sexiest C-pillar ever... and the rising curve in the rear hip meeting it is hot. I know this car will probably be the upcoming small coupe or CUV, but I wish it was a concept hinting to the next M or Q.

no sedan or cuv. it's a coupe'.
Infiniti will show a two-door coupé concept at the Geneva motor show in two weeks that, the company says, is “an exploration into the brand’s future".
The car, which is called Essence, is not the rumoured new small Infiniti but rather a large coupe that could be positioned above the G37 as a flagship performance car.

If I could get an Infiniti version of a Benz CL/6-series rival, I would be all over it.
