How the hell can anyone say the '05 Sonata looks awful unless it was painted mauve or some shit. The car is an attractive vehicle in a neutral tone like silver. I just finished driving one for 5 days and about 600 miles.
I was completely and totally blown away by it. If the car had more HP I would say that it was better than an Accord. It was that good. Very quiet at 80mph, shifted really well. All the power accessories and the V6.
If I was looking for a new sedan in '06 I would definitely consider the Sonata. What a fantastic car and a really pleasant experience.

It's not a Ferrari but it's not a Pontiac either

MSZ, who doesn't like the new 2005.5 Sonata.

Consumer Reports "Best Cars" reports was released today.
The single most reliable vehicle in the 2004 model year was Hyundai Motor Co, Ltd's low-cost Sonata sedan, with a problem rate of just two per 100.
That is pretty damned impressive. That backs up my "seat of the pants" impression of my rental Sonata.

New Hyundai Sonata Article (edmunds)
Here is the link
The reason i post this is because it makes me laugh (actually cry). Here is a Korean .... KOREAN car manufacturer that is building cars in America better than American's can. Good for them. Shame on us. There are a couple of quotes that caught my attention
1. "But numbers don't tell the whole story. The 2006 Sonata's interior is not only larger than before, it looks and feels better, too. The dash and door panels are covered with soft-touch materials that, in some places, mimic the feel of an Audi. That's not to say the entire interior is up to Audi standards, but our initial impression is that this Hyundai's cabin is definitely on par with its direct competitors. "
2. "The 2006 Sonata may be the first Hyundai we can recommend without qualifiers like "for the price." Sub-$20,000 pricing (GL only) and 100,000-mile warranties will only get you so far. With the Sonata's excellent attention to detail and generous standard features, the price is just icing on the cake. It may sound like blasphemy but Camry and Accord shoppers now have one more stop to make at the local auto mall before deciding on a midsize sedan. "
Let me empasize KOREAN...the new kid on the block...the one that everyone used to pick on and dismissed.....has just come of age.

It's incredible the strides Hyundai has made in recent years. Save driving it, I'd get this car before a Camry or Accord. I still like the Alitma better, but this car (with's it's comprehensive list of equipment, and warranty, and price) is a no brainer against the Malibu and Camry, IMO. I like the interior better than the G6's.

I would get the Sonata over an Altima though, b/c that car is so cheaply built its ridiculous (sad a Korean car is built better than a Japanese car)

my friend(american) is waiting to buy 06 hyundai because he thinks it looks better than any other sedan out there for his budget, and it comes with the best warranty. and that new commercial was a huge deciding factor.

While Hyundai is moving forward quickly, and the while the new Sonata looks nice on the outside and has increased power, think the interior doesn't look that great compared to the top 3 competition. The Hyundai Azera on the other hand looks promising, almost to the point that it would have made an impact in the Sonata class.

The only reason I didn't buy an '05 was that I wanted a HB and not a sedan so I got a Mazda3. Otherwise I would have jumped all over that Sonata.

2006 hyundai sonata
saw the commercial so checked it out online. it's suprisingly a nice looking car and has a ton of features i wouldn't expect in a sub 20k car

It looks like what the Accord should look like.
