The blackout trend doesn’t show any sign of stopping as Hyundai has unveiled the 2023 Santa Cruz Night.

Based on the Santa Cruz AWD SEL Activity, the Night features a dark chrome grille and exclusive 20-inch wheels with a dark finish.

They’re joined by gloss black mirror caps and door handles as well as darkened front and rear fascias that are unique to the model. Last but not least, the truck comes equipped with dual side steps that are painted black.

Hyundai didn’t say much else about the truck but, since it’s based on the SEL Activity, it should come equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Buyers can also expect heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat, and air conditioning. Other highlights should include a wireless smartphone charger and a sunroof.

The truck also sports a Sheet Molded Composite bed that measures 52.1 inches (1,323 mm) long at its base and features a lockable storage compartment. It should be joined by a tonneau cover, LED bed lights, and a 115V AC power inverter.

On the safety front, buyers can expect an assortment of driver assistance systems including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist. Other highlights should include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Safe Exit Warning, and Rear Occupant Alert.

The $35,810 Santa Cruz Night is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 281 hp (210 kW / 285 PS) and 311 lb-ft (421 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system.

Putting the Night aside, changes to the 2023 Santa Cruz are fairly minor. That being said, the SEL Premium is more advanced as it now comes equipped with a 10.25-inch infotainment system featuring GPS navigation. The model also gains Intelligent Speed Limit Assist and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go.

Elsewhere in the lineup, all Santa Cruz pickups now have Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Safe Exit Warning. The color palette has also been revised as Ice White has been replaced by Atlas White, while Mojave Sand gives way to California Sand.

Pricing also climbs as the 2023 Santa Cruz now starts at $25,450 which is an increase of $1,010. Certain trims see higher price increases and that’s before factoring in a $1,295 destination fee.

I see them on occasion, but am definitely seeing more Mavericks than SC.
I'd take a Maverick hands down over the SC.

Doesn't the maverick under cut it pretty significantly on price? That'll do it.

My dad has an order to go in once the '23 banks open. Hybrid XLT & Tech pkg, something like 27k.
Guessing the SEL Activity FWD is comparable, at $32k
