I hope they fuking fix the gigantic headlight.

The resale value on those Pilot is ridiculous. I helped my company leased a 2012 Oddy and 2012 Pilot, both EX-L.

0 down, 0 drive off, Pilot lease payment was in the mid 4s with tax included. I just sold the Pilot to Carmax with 26xxx miles last week and somehow made $2000.

This is probably the very first look at the 2016 Pilot. Spied by a TOV member in So C

TOV member "newdetroit" posted this image on TOV earlier today, thinking it was maybe an Acura SUV, due to the Acura wheels. But considering the fact that the current MDX is still pretty much brand new, and this vehicle looks nothing like an MDX, we're pretty sure it's a test mule for the upcoming 2016 Honda Pilot, if only for the boxy profile.

Breaking news - the all-new, 3rd generation 2016 Honda Pilot has made its appearance on the web on the eve of the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.

These official photos, which come courtesy of Edmunds, reveal Honda's new, more Acura-like styling direction for their mid-size crossover that looks less utilitarian and more modern and upmarket - both inside and out, than the outgoing Pilot.

One feature that remains from the previous model is the new Pilot's ability to chauffeur up to 8 passengers in 3 rows of seats.

According to Honda, "the new Pilot represents a dramatic shift in design, while showcasing new standout technologies, versatility, and dynamics currently unavailable in the mainstream SUV segment".

For more details we'll likely have to wait for Honda's press conference in Chicago tomorrow morning.

It's worth noting that the 2016 Pilot likely previews the styling of the upcoming 2016 Ridgeline pickup truck as well.

Looks like a Honda version of the MDX. Definitely better than the current version.

It's still fugly, looks like an Accord got fat. Thank god they didn't put the idiotic and infuriating dual screen system into this car.

I'm digging the interior. The exterior, I'm still unsure. This is going to make my SUV purchase a little bit harder, since I backed out of my last deal.

Interior looks nice and the exterior looks terrible. Typical Honda/Acura as of the last 10 years pretty much.

Interior looks great, exterior is good (big CRV) quite a improvement of the current 2G Pilot breadbox.
2 sunroof's! Probably increase Pilot sales as well.

Electronic shifting

CR-V sales are through the roof. If that's the styling people want. Then its a smart move.

Whoa another big fail from Honda marketing.....lol at those PR pics. Wtf? really? The new Pilot won't win any beauty contest but boy Honda PR managed to make an average looking car look super ugly...

It looks quite a bit different with the live photos:

I like the exterior and interior as much as the first gen Pilot in my garage. The push button transmission made it to Hondas MUCH faster than I thought it would. Why buy an MDX if the Pilot is this good? For SH-AWD? Honda will sell these hand over fist, including to me if my wife is interested in updating her 2007 Pilot.

Only major things I can really think of are SH-AWD, Jewel eyed headlights, and lower NVH numbers.

Now we have a good idea of what engine and transmission the next Odyssey, Ridgeline and Accord will likely get.

They really need to do a better job at differentiating Acura's from Honda's.

Overall, I like it. Much better than the current design.

Agree.

The interior is heavily influenced by the current MDX.

did they have to make that black extension that big on the front bumper?

It looks weird when the front bumper does not align with the side..

My wife saw the 2016 Pilot pics last night, and already started to ponder replacing her 2003 with 250K miles.

For better fuel efficiency, yes. The current Pilot isn't too competitive in that regard.

Looks pretty good. But the chrome bar on the front that goes from headlight to headlight looks like a unibrow.

Anthony Davis is the new spokesperson.

My other gripe is that the front air dam is super low to the ground. I know this is a minivan for people who don't want sliding doors but how about a bit of ruggedness?

No wonder the 2016 MDX gets the 9-speed auto. The 2016 Pilot will get the 9-speed too (in certain trims) - so Acura had to keep up with its non-luxury cousin.

Also surprising to see some features the MDX doesn't get - like 2 sunroofs and bucket seats for the 2nd row.

Id be willing to bet they did. Look at just about every new vehicle, they all have a similar design to the lower chin and they all stick out about even with the bumper. It is there for new federal rules for pedestrian safety

No, the lower chins you see on newer cars are for fuel efficiency. It improves the aerodynamics. Look at the Chevy Volt. Or for comparison's sake, the base Cruze vs. the Cruze Eco.

Damn. Honda does this to the MDX to better the Pilot.

But it didn't do this to the TL to better the Accord. Why ?

Saw it in person at the Chicago Auto Show.

Honestly, I do not like the light blue exterior color and I'm not sure why they chose that. I do like the front end styling. The rear looks pretty similar to an MDX. And they had the Pilot debaged so it made it look extra bland for some reason, too.

There's a lower steel cross-pipe behind the front lower bumper section of the 1G Pilot, to prevent vaulting over smaller vehicles in front end collisions.

Can't wait to see it in a beige color on a lower trim with 17" wheels. I bet it'll be very memorable looking.

Why are these car makers making all the lights at the back all red? The turn signals should be amber. It's confusing to see a flashing red light as a turn signal.
