It needs a 6 speed auto, projectors and a replacement motor for the aging and outdated J series.

AWD is a must. I can see myself getting that and trading in the Pilot.

I know my father in law would go for this car based on look and the (possibility of) AWD.

Seattle area doesn't need AWD. (I guess people were scared after last winter.)

Winter tires will also do.

Looks like the Lincoln MKT.....which is NOT the vehicle Honda needs to emulate in order to climb out of the styling basement.

I love the new look.. it really is appealing in concept form. Given the recent update of Sienna, I think the Ody will fare much better in looks dept. The concept seems to have cues from MDX, ZDX and cross tour. In the side profile the 3rd row of windows seem to resemble the current MDX. The tails look ZDX inspired. The wheels look like they are 20". The low profile tire setup probably won't make it into production but I think the production wheels have to be around 18" inch to avoid a very high profile tire. The EPA estimates also looks very promising too, which makes me believe that it will be a 6spd Auto. If they are achieving this with a 5spd Auto then, I guess the MMC would get the 6spd and big bump iin EPA mileage.

Tell that to my in laws who travels between the passes... Winter tires works, but it's also a hassle. And just because it doesn't snow every year, doesn't mean AWD won't be needed. AWD isn't just for snow, IMO, it's also for helping with high-speed traction stability.

Regardless, I'd choose a car with AWD over one without.

Enjoy and post away.

So between this and the current supersized Quest, at which point does a minivan officially become a van?

I think the current Odyssey outgrew the 'mini' in minivan already. This one is just ridiculous, look at that rear overhang. it's school-bus proportion.

I think that because it's lower than before, it might make it look a little bigger.
