If all auto sales in May dropped 8% and Toyota's fell 0.5%, I say that's a big win for Toyota. Once again.
Same for DC (fell 2.5%).

From MINIUSA PR:
Demand for MINI brand automobiles remained high in May. MINI USA reported that May 2005 sales jumped 16 percent, with 3,878 cars compared to 3,355 sold a year ago. Sales of MINI automobiles in the first five months of 2005 are up 23 percent with sales of 18,372 cars over the 14,916 cars reported in 2004.
In contrast to MINI, BMW lost some sales ground due to the production ramp-up of the new 3 series:
BMW of North America, LLC reported a 5.7 percent dip in May sales of automobiles and Sports Activity Vehicles, to 23,048 vehicles compared to the 24,432 reported last May. The all-new 2006 3 Series went on sale May 6th and while demand for the two new 3 Series sedans is strong, inventory is still low as production ramps up.
The BMW Group (BMW and MINI brands combined) reported year-to-date sales of 117,844 vehicles, an increase of 2 percent compared to the 115,737 vehicles sold that month in 2004. The BMW Group also reported May sales of 26,926 vehicles, down 3.1 percent from 27,787 sold in the same period of 2004.

Right now, Nissan is VERY trendy with the car buying public. Even that tired 6MY old B15 platform.

These results are viewed differently from the perspective of the monthly Honda sales press release. Honda uses a daily selling rate calculation to adjust their sales. This contributed to their proclamation of a 0.9% drop for the year and a 7.6% drop for May. A 10.1% drop for Honda and a 9.1% increase for Acura over the month and a 0.4% drop and 8.7% increase over the year, respectively. I suppose to Honda, the great job that the Acura division is doing coupled with an only 0.4% decrease overall compared to record-breaking 2004 sales is fine for right now.

Thus the HUGE profit Nissan/Renault has seen. It is genius.
Nissan is like the Japanese GM/Ford when it comes to sharing and cheap interiors but Nissan's VQ is superior to every engine they pretty much make and their marketing is HELLA better.
Ghosen has promised all Renaults/Nissans will share 8 platforms!! They will continue to be a profit machine!! And they are putting the money into something good, the next Nissan GT-R!!!!
