this'd be a prime candidate for someone's $20k youthful sports car, I'm sure. I'm liking it so far.

Wow!! That's a Civic??? Not bad at all. My first thought was, it looks like a TSX, RSX, Accord coupe....and then on and on and on. I see a lot of cues from other cars as well. Like...Audi, Scion TC, and others.

But nice concept!

Civic is moving up market but not by alot. Fit/Jazz is taking up low end. Scion TC isn't loaded 1-2k less.

Looks great!! except the roundness of the back end tho. Looks very CL, RL -ish to me. But the sharp front end seems to be the way Honda wants to go these days, which I absolutely Love

With a 200HP engine, this paves way for Honda/Acura to get rid of the RSX and move that upmarket in to a 30-35K coupe with power something like the TL, as a competitor for 350Z, SC430, TT, etc.

Good move Honda

Now if only you guys do something similar with the new Civic sedan (good power and looks), then its all taken care of.

Think its unlikely even the new civic will match the scion tc's content at its base price. A little disappointed they decided to show an overdone concept rather than a real civic, none the less it looks like it should be a fun car once again. Hopefully the price doesn't get out of hand.

I wonder if Honda is going to boost the HP of the RSX. This new Si blows away the base RSX and makes the Type S almost irrelevant. Maybe a new base 210 hp RSX and 250 hp Type S will do the trick.

I just realized that the new Si has 5 more horsepower than the new V6 Lucerne. That thing must be a real boat.

Umm i dont know what theyve done with the engine

but the EX civics have 4 disc brakes if memory serves. and they finally give the EX alloys.

But I agree. Right now I'd take a tC any day over the civic.

quality difference between a tC and a Civic is not even close. You can see where they cut costs in the tC. Morerover standard civic should also be 160hp w/ the use of the k20 engine.

The RSX should be getting a full re-design for MY07 with plans to move it upscale to something like a 2-door TSX.

You have to remember that Honda works on a 5-year cycle and sometimes car models overlap each other.

Look at the "new" 240hp Honda Accord, when it came out in 2003 the Luxury branded TL-P only had 225hp. Sure there was a Type S, but Honda has stepped on its toes with horsepower in the past. The RL also only had 225hp for a long time from a 3.5L v6!

I don't get why people keep comparing this car to the current generation RSX. When the new RSX comes out in MY07, I'd imagine it would have more horsepower than 210, and I'd imagine when the TSX gets refreshed in MY07, it will also have more horsepower.

It would be nice to have the RSX bow to a RWD coupe

That's assuming there is a USDM RSX in 2007. Looking at Honda Sales , the RSX is losing some 'sales steam.'

Right on. But will the RSX stay as a Civic-based model, or will they actually build it off of the World Accord platform that the TSX uses, making it in effect a TSX coupe? I believe the reports that Honda is working on an Acura lux coupe to take on, say, the G35 but what does that mean for the RSX and NSX?

As my son is approaching driving age, we have scoped out the tC and Civic EX (as well as others in this category). Besides a smooth shifter, the EX does nothing much for me. The tC doesnt do much for me neither but it's very well executed and the motor felt better than the EX, NVH-wise. But that's NOT to say a new Civic wont do something for me.

Interior quality is subjective; the Golf GL felt superior to both ergonomically & quality-wise but we know there's more to that story.

I'm sure when the prod cars come out, we will see a hatchback version of the Civic. I cant see a Civic line without a hatchback.

Now do the math about how much less HP it has at 3000 rpm. Or the match about the peak torque which should yield similar results.

i would like for honda to move the S2K to the acura line as a new coupe/roadster to fill the gap between the rsx and nsx.

Then maybe we'll finally see heated seats in the S2K standard ... My ass is freezing with the top down when its 40-50 degrees out

Seriously though, many people seem to think the S2000 will be discontinued after the 2006 model. They said the same thing for the 2003 model though.

With Acura getting another coupe (maybe the CL again), who knows what Honda is going to do ... Historically they usually don't carry that many models, so it may mean that some other models will be getting axed.

I would agree if we are talking the current si vs tc, can't say the standard civic really stood out against other newer compacts. Think manufacturers are able to put more into cheaper cars today without making them physically cheap by sharing parts.

The power of the new civic should be interesting, it would seem 3 gas engines would make most sense, 140 base 160 ex 200 si. Doubt we will see a hatch again, even though I wouldn't mind seeing a dx hatch.

2006 Civic SI Concept

http://hondanews.com/CatID1000?mid=2...37548&mime=asc

The Civic Si Concept celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Civic Si legacy in the U.S. and builds on its performance heritage with a 200-horsepower, 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC engine with an 8,000 rpm red line, mated to a close ratio 6-speed manual transmission. Helping to put all that power to the ground is a helical-type limited slip differential for improved launch traction and cornering performance.

Other performance features of the Civic Si Concept include 18-inch cast aluminum wheels, 225/40R18 high performance tires and 4-wheel disc brakes with large cross-drilled brake rotors and 4-piston Brembo calipers.
"The 2006 Civic Si Coupe will be the most powerful, fastest and fun-to-drive Si we've ever put on the street, and the Civic Si Concept sets the direction in terms of its styling, package and performance," said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda.

Looks pretty nice. Much better then the current Si.

Hopefully they upgrade the inside and get rid of that “BONER SHIFT” center console design.
