This car is based on an extended version of the new Kappa platform, which GMI reported on last week.
This platform may be used for the next generation Camaro car.

Looks like a little Opel in the face... that's a nice as sedan. I'ts likes are nice. Looks a little Japanese in the back. Great looking car, though. If they put a cool blue shade where all that damn pink is in the interior, it's a winner.

It...correctly...reminds you of an Opel because it looks a lot like the Opel Vectra and Astra cars. Also, Holden has a lot more design ties with Opel than the USAmerican subsidiaries of GM.

Aussie rules for GM's 3-series rival - - Source: Autocar Mag
General Motors’ Australian outpost, Holden, has unveiled a car that could eventually take on the BMW 3-series.
The rear-wheel-drive 375bhp Holden Torana will pose a serious threat to Europe’s compact elite, if hints dropped by GM product chief Bob Lutz at the Sydney Motor Show come to fruition. Officially it’s strictly a concept but there’s a reasonable chance the basic idea could be sold globally.
During recent interviews Lutz has suggested that a rear-drive mid-size car would fill a void in the GM line-up in Europe and the US, and enable some GM brands to compete with big-selling models from Merc, BMW and Audi. Built in Europe, and marketed as a Saab, Cadillac, or even a five-door sibling for Vauxhall’s Monaro, he hinted that the Torana could be that car.
About the same size as a BMW 3-series – 4553mm long, 1800mm wide and 1474mm high – the Torana has interior space on a par with the 5-series’s. Based on a unique floorplan, it uses suspension from GM’s new Kappa platform, and is powered by a 375bhp twin-turbo 3.6 V6.
But Holden has since revealed that to make it viable more extensive use of Kappa architecture would be required, as well as a minimum of 120,000 cars built per year.

I am confused by the above, because I thought Bob was going to go agains the 3er with a FWD small Cadillac based on the platform of the 9-3 today. ALthough I prefer the Torana going against the 3er, we're now getting conflicting reports.

^Who know... maybe GM decided that a modified RWD Kappa is cheaper, or a better car to pitch as a direct competitor to the 3-Series, instead of an AWD version of the 9-3. Also, the article says that GM produce 120,000 Kappa units a year, and this is a good way to do it.

Probably won't get it ... We'll get some bloated POS styled by Homer Simpson instead.

I wrote above that we might see it as the next Camaro.

I hate to see you guys knock on a good design cause of the color it's presented in.
So here it is, in blue. LOOK AT THEM HEADLIGHTS. The most beautifully done ones I've ever seen.
