Dude that's suite and sweet. I hope the US version is just as hot. I like the interiors too.

Why can't the GM cars in the US look that good and have such nice looking interiors!?

Ford and GM especially deserve everything thats happening to them, they've brought all these problems upon themselves.

Somewhere, someplace, some dumb motherf$@$er at GM needs to be shot in the head for not bringing something like that over here to the States. Talk about competition to the Chrysler 300.

I think the good Falcon would be like $40k which is tough competition down here. I think Ford says that nobody would buy such an expensive Ford since the Mustang is pretty fast for like $15k.

Cuz, the beancounters for both said car manufacturers are the ones making decisions and well...

Yes and no. I don't think we're supposed to be getting rebadges of this car (like the GTO). But we're supposed to get a few cars off this global RWD platform (Zeta). The next Impala, Grand/Prix, and a Buick (possibly the next Lucerne) are rumored to be on it. In addition, the next Monte Carlo (or possibly Chevelle), GTO, and Buick Velite may be based on it. IMO, the cars I mentioned above can't come fast enough. It's obvious GM's getting their shit together, and they're finally coming with some world class interiors. Bring it on, GM.

I really like the interiors shown. I particularly like there upscale Calais V interior (the all black one shown). I think it's fit and finish is awesome, and i love the design. I wouldn't mind them bringing that interior over intact.

Rebadge that as the Grand Prix and they'll sell a lot more of them than the current abortion.

I wouldn't be suprised if these came over in some time under Pontiac. I keep reading Pontiac wants to be GM's performance brand w/ all RWD cars

The powertrains are the easy part. They're just using the 3.6L HFv6 (CTS) and the LS2. I can't help but wonder if they had the foresight to make this car's crashworthiness up to U.S. standards. I remember they needed to tweek the GTO a bit before it was brought to the U.S.

I find it strange that the current GTO with LS2 makes 400HP. Yet this new one with the same engine only makes 362HP?

Probably less aggressive tuning given that these are the standard versions of the car. They'll get all the ponies when the HSV versions are made available.

Too bad GM can't put a decent interior like this Holden for their home country. It seems like the buy American crowd is keeping GM afloat and yet GM sh**s all over them when it comes to bringing out a total package. And you know who else is to blame besides the bean counters, the UAW.
I mean their (GM) powertrains are getting better e.g. (The 3.6 in the CTS), their chassis' seem to be getting better, but over all when it comes to putting everything all together they all seem to clash and build quality seems to go down the drain.

GM NA's interiors are improving vastly. The new GMT900 SUVs (Escalade,Yukon,Tahoe, etc.) are nice, especially the Escalade. All of the Lambdas (Outlook,Acadia,Enclave) interiors are awesome. Also, the Aura's interior is nice, and the glimpse we've seen of the next Gen CTS is jaw dropping (leather dash!). Also, the American crowd isn't keeping GM afloat. GM NA has been loosing money for years. It makes money everywhere else in the world; especially Asia. As far as what's been keeping GM alfoat, thank GMAC. GM's finacial unit has been the backbone of the company for years, not it's auto units. I agree with you on one point though; GM has shitted on the NA market for years in terms of total package. I think that total packages are finally coming around. It's obvious no one makes a better SUV than GM; the question is when will they get their car offerings right.

Yes.

I was responding to someone wondering why there were no GM cars in the US with a good interior.

My answer was basically - yes, there is a GM car in the US (I dind't say "made in the US") with a very good interior, it is Pontiac GTO.

Back a few years ago people in the US looked at Holden Commodores and said the same thing, "bring them over asap".

So GM brought one over as a Pontiac GTO and for some reason a lot of people decided that they didn't like it.

People weren't expecting a $35k asking price, either...

You do realize they are like 50K is Australia for the comparable Monaro. A Coupe4 is over 70K. I think 33K is a fair price for the GTO.

I do know that, but I'm saying that the American public balked because the Mustang with the V8 was only $25k and the cancelled Camaro/Firebird V8s were both below $30k. To the average American, $30k plus just didn't seem like a good deal.
