Press release...
The world's fastest and most powerful production Corvette, the 638 bhp ZR1 has become the pinnacle of American sports cars. For most ZR1 owners, having a car capable of Nürburgring times of 7:26 is more than enough performance to satisfy their need for speed. However, for the select few who subscribe to the mantra of "too much horsepower is never enough", Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has something special in store for them in 2010. HPE is happy to introduce the company's 705 bhp Z700 upgrade package for the 2010 ZR1.
Porsche 911 owners wanting the uber Porsche can order the GT3 RS. Dodge Viper enthusiasts wanting the ultimate road race Viper have the ACR. Now ZR1 owners can opt for the Hennessey Z700 upgrade for their Corvettes.
Hennessey's Z700 performance package starts by upgrading the LS9's supercharger, exhaust and air induction systems, which is then dyno tuned to 705 bhp. But this is just the beginning. Additional upgrades include lightweight carbon fiber wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, which reduces rotating weight by nearly 60 lbs. Hennessey's Z-Aero ™ carbon fiber front splitter, canards and rear spoiler also add over 300 lbs of downforce, helping plant the added power to the road or track. Rounding out the Z700 upgrade package is a revised interior with lightweight carbon fiber seats, Alcantara steering wheel and shift knob.
HPE will be throwing its hat into the Ring - literally - with plans to begin testing the Z700 at the famed Nürburgring in Germany later in 2009. The company plans to build just 24 of these limited-edition Corvette ZR1's for the 2010 model year. Each customer also gets a full day of performance driving instruction in his or her new Z700 at Hennessey's own private test track, Lonestar Motorsports Park. Lonestar, which is located next to the company's facility, is located just west of Houston, Texas and has a full quarter-mile dragstrip as well as the addition of a 1.1-mile road course which will soon be under construction.

For some reason I don't see myself trusting CF wheels on a 700Hp car.

Hennessey is a crook and a douchebag, that's all I have to say. No wait.... one more.... the first customer(s) who send their cars in for the Z700 conversion will be screwed, because their cars are going to be the donor cars for future customers. Sad but true.

I know this is Automotive News and not Car Talk, but for an extra $100,000+ you'd be crazy to get this Hennessey upgrade!
I guess you still have the "road course" performance times, but all this for new wheels and a shift knob, you could easily TT a Z06 and have a daily driver that puts out 900hp+ and that would satisfy most anyone, while spanking a $200,000+ vette on the street or track!

a little over the top...and he should put the corvette badges back on, who does this guy think he is??
i would never buy an upgrade like that, whats the point. like mrsteve said 700hp is ridiculous...plus anyone can get that power out of a vette for much cheaper if they wanted to....waste...of...money!

I would rather have teh car tuned, with some bolt ons to get that much power for much much less.

I would rather have my testicles smashed with a sledge hammer than give a cent to John Hennessey.

He's had lawsuits filed against him, and I've even seen him on SRT forums where he posts under the name John Hennessey (real or fake?) and flames and taunts members about how despite their efforts to slander him, he's still in business and making money, etc.
The reason why he gets away with it seems to be because the frequency of these stories is somewhat rare, because he has many very satisfied customers.
If you really are interested, here's a good story (don't forget to click the link to the 300c forums at the end of the OP)

This seriously has to go down as the biggest crash and burn by any person I've ever come across on the internet.
Oh well - he's an adult. If this is the lasting rep he wants to leave behind, so be it. Imagine the Google searches on "Hennessey" and "Viper" that will turn up threads like this, and/or links to threads like this, for the next 20 years.
Oh - and if you do have money in the bank John - give it back.

Yes, over-overkill. To truly appreciate that beast you would need to be a well trained driver (perhaps a race car driver) and track the car frequently. Other than that it's a waste of engineering as a daily driver or even a weekend driver IMO.

The reaction time on the Hennessy was awful..hence the numbers. Although I agree it's a waste of money. Hennessy is a crook.

I don't see why that couldn't be accomplished for $5-7,000 depending on the wheels.
