GM Quietly Offers Rebates on 2006 Cars and Trucks

GM Quietly Offers Rebates on 2006 Cars and Trucks - - Source: Edmunds.com

DETROIT — General Motors is quietly offering new cash rebates of $500 to $1,000 on many of its 2006 cars and trucks, according to the Detroit News.

The program began on July 6 and ends on August 1, according to information GM provided dealers, the newspaper said. It includes cash rebates of up to $3,000 on remaining 2005 models and is intended to jump-start sales, especially when paired with the employee discount program for all customers. GM is offering employee discounts to all consumers on most of its 2005 models.

Examples of the new cash rebate deals include a choice of a $1,000 rebate or 1.9 percent financing on loans of 12 to 36 months on the 2006 Chevrolet Impala; and $500 or 3.9 percent financing for 12- to 36-month loans for a Pontiac Montana SV6 minivan. GM is also offering 1.9 percent financing for 12- to 36-month loans on the new Chevrolet HHR.

You know I have mixed feelings about being a car enthusiast. I mean I am reading about all these rebates, promotions, discounts that Ford and especially GM are offering and feel that if I were not an enthusiasts and were perfectly happy with a stupid Montana or something similar, I'd get a great deal on my vehicle purchase nowadays. Even the HHR would be a great buy. Sigh!

So lets see, the sticker is first lowered to the employee price, then you can get $3K off that, then you can cash in your GM card points, then you haggle over the holdback and you arrive at:

The true value of a GM vehicle.
