Well I'd say none of you know anyone who owns a expensive Ferrari... plain and simple.
They break ALL the time... my friends dad owned 12. They were always in the shop. He drove a domestic to work because he got stranded too many times. They are his weekend warriors.
Your just expected to eat the cost on the bad manufacturing /w high end vehicles... Europe does not have the same regulations we have. (athough they are catching up)
example:
A major flaw /w Lamborghini is if you get on the brakes too hard in a new vehicles the system can cause the car to start on fire. Has happened 5-6 time that I know of. Granted lamborghini did purchase the drivers new cars... i think someone even posted pics of one of them on here awhile back.
So easy to pick on companies that do make their problems public.... (im not saying the problems aren't big issues)
While it'd be nice to get a perfect product, not 100% of all problems can be predicted without road time.

A two ton conglomerate of metal and carbon fibre does not naturally go 200 miles per hour. When you do the unnatural for a thrill, things will occasionally blow up and bad stuff will ensue. I don't know why people expect that fact to change.
If this happened to a Civic, I can see the "OMG!" reaction. But it's not as fitting here. I wish exotics were as practical and as extensively debugged as a Camry, but then they wouldn't be exotic, now would they?

True. IN general, all Italian manufacturers suck in reliability. I believe Ferraris break not only because I have heard about it before but becase they are owned by Fiat and as they say, it starts from the top. Fiat has been terrible with reliability in the past decades. They are getting better as you said, but still lag behind. Same with ALfa. I used to own an Alfa in Europe. Great fun, terrible reliability. I am sure Maserati is the same. I know Lancia is terrible too.

Oil leak is new glitch for Ford GT; automaker resurrects 'Speedi-Sleeve' to address rare problem - - By AMY WILSON | Automotive News - - Source; Autoweek
DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. is using a time-tested but unusual repair method to fix an engine oil leak in its flagship GT sports car. It is telling dealership mechanics to install a "Speedi-Sleeve" to stop oil from leaking from the crankshaft rear seal. It is one of several fixes being prescribed for the GT when the car goes into the shop for a major suspension recall.
The sleeves have been used for decades, largely on older, high-mileage cars or those undergoing an overhaul. It's extremely unusual for them to be used by a manufacturer on a new car, sources say.
"They work, but, gosh, it shouldn't happen," one Ford dealer says. "It's highly unusual. If I were the owner of a $150,000 race car, I wouldn't be happy about it."
The engine oil leak, which is caused by an improper finish on the crankshaft, isn't a problem in all cars, Ford spokeswoman Kristen Kinley says. The crankshaft finish has been fixed for cars in production.
For vehicles with the problem, the Speedi-Sleeve will close any gaps that might allow engine oil to leak. The device is a metal band that fits over the end of the crankshaft, increasing its diameter and making a tighter fit against the seal. The Speedi-Sleeve itself is a low-cost part but requires several hours of labor to install.
Until the GT, the sleeves hadn't been used by Ford, at least in recent years, Kinley says. She says it's uncommon because Ford hasn't experienced this type of leak during that period.
While all GTs will get new suspension control arms, not all of the cars are expected to need the other repairs. In addition to two recalls, Ford has issued nine technical service bulletins and one special service message on the GT. Problems range from the leaking crankshaft seal and blemishes on seat belt webbing to a rattle in the upper steering column and leaking power steering fluid.
"All of our customers are important, but (with) this one, we're really giving them the white-glove treatment," Kinley says. "We had an issue with the control arm. We don't want to take the chance we're going to have an issue with anything else."
Ford recalled the vehicle Dec. 16, ordering owners not to drive it after a crack was discovered in a test vehicle's control arm. A recall for a fuel tank vapor leak that affected about 45 cars was issued at the same time.
Ford assembled 448 cars before the recall; 111 were in owners' possession. Thirty-five cars have been repaired. Ford resumed limited GT assembly the week of Feb. 7. Ford aims to complete the suspension recall during the next few weeks. Eight control arms in each car are being swapped out from a cast part to a forged part.
The other service advisories are expected to affect a much smaller number of cars.

2006 Ford GT Tungsten
Man, that's so pretty...I want one. BAD.

To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Ford's first win at Le Mans, the 2006 Ford GT will be offered in a limited-edition Tungsten Silver, which replaces Quick Silver on the Ford GT's color palette. A Quick Silver racing stripe can be added to the Tungsten Silver package.
Tungsten Silver was developed for the 2004 North American International Auto Show Ford "Performance Trilogy" show cars - the Ford GT, the Shelby Cobra roadster concept and the new 2005 Mustang GT. Customer demand was so overwhelming that the color was added to the production palette.
"There's good contrast between the colors," says Camilo Pardo, chief designer of the Ford GT. "But it's a discreet contrast. In Tungsten Silver, the Ford GT is really dressy, like a fine suit. It looks mature.
"This dark silver color also brings out all the design features and the subtleties of the car," he adds. "In fact, people who've seen it thought we'd added a feature line around the side of the car. It's always been there, but you may not notice it in the car's other colors. The Tungsten Silver really brings it out."
Pardo notes that in the design studio, clay models are covered with "Dynoc" material that is a similar hue to Tungsten silver. The color is specifically designed to enhance the vehicle design details for evaluation.
"We use silver to evaluate our designs throughout the whole process," he says. "It brings out the subtleties, the returns and the negatives, the differences between horizontal and vertical surfaces."

In the latest MT mag edition, the GT ran:
3.6 for the 60
11.6 @ 126.2 mph for the 1/4 mile
60-0 = 109 feet
100-0 = 297 feet
Passing 45-65 mph = 1.5 seconds
Base price $143,345
As tested $155,845

Not the best mag time for the GT but it's OK. Can’t remember which mag it was but they compared the Ford GT, to the Enzo and Carrera GT. The Ford GT ran a 11.2s @ 131MPH in the 1/4-mile and it was only .1s and .2s slower in the 1/4 then the Carrera GT and Enzo.

Which one wins, as in, which one was quicker/faster? If yes, I posted the numbers for the F430, the GT was faster/quicker.
If you mean overall, the mag liked the F430 better. To quote the last sentence:
"The Ford returns to Michigan with its head held high- but without an overall victory"

Ya I meant overall. No surprise that the F430 lost the acceleration tests but anyone that buys a GT over an 430 because its faster doesn't deserve the 430 to begin with.

ok... I am going to be bold and say something here. I would take the Ford GT over the F430. for looks, power, for everything. sure the interior is Ford and probably Ford quality, but I'd deal with it.
I think the GT looks better. a lot better.
yeah, I said it.
