The sizzle in the Steak
Not bad for a facelift. Now it has some sort of an identity.
Any changes to the rear?

Ford Taurus X News
CHICAGO, Feb. 7, 2007 – Ford Motor Company today announced it is bringing back the well-known Ford Taurus name, introducing a new name – Taurus X – for its three-row crossover and returning the Mercury Sable to the lineup as upgraded 2008-model versions of all three vehicles go on sale this summer.
“Taurus has been an icon for Ford’s family sedan for more than two decades, and it’s time to return this powerful name to where it belongs,” said Mark Fields, Ford’s President of The Americas, at the Chicago Auto Show. “Consumer awareness of the Taurus name is double the Five Hundred that it’s replacing, and awareness of Sable is triple that of Montego.
“By giving these vehicles the names that consumers recognize at the same time we’re making significant upgrades, we’re confident that even more people are going to be attracted to these great products in the future,” Fields added.

Giving the 500 the Taurus name is perfectly fine. Creating the Taurus X is horrible. Damn, I wonder if there's a coupe lying around they can whore the name out to while they're at it...

The Taurus name may be more recognizable, but is it more desirable?
Changing a name to the old name is moving backward, not moving forward

This is retarded and confusing....the 500 will be the new Taurus, and this SUV will be a Taurus X? How can one name be a car and an SUV/crossover? They should just have different names. WTF. They're acting like the Taurus name was the be all end all of cars. It wasn't. It was a bland econobox that went down the shitter. I feel like Ford is just TRYING to kill itself.

And BTW, doesn't that Taurus X thing above look like the current Freestyle? Why make 2 of virtually the same thing?

What the hell is in the water at Ford?!?!!?
The new "Freestyle" is horrible...and to top it off they call it the Taurus X?!?!?!
Maybe they were meaning to call it Tyrannosaurus Rex......fitting for Fords imminent extinction.

When I was at the show in Detroit a few weeks back I wondered "what do they plan to do with all this space" when we were in the Ford exhibit.

I knew this was a stupid idea from Ford when I was hesitating on my decision to open a new thread for the Taurus X or just merge it with the current Taurus (ex-500). LOL.
