Is it any surprise they are selling as well as they are? Fairly cheap car price wise that can freaking fly.

Lex what was the demographic of those 15 people who came with the SRT-4's?

For a base price slightly over $20,995 I suspect those things will soon be buzzing all over the place. 230 hp too, damm!

Oh, so it is okay to say it is a Neon now? For a while we "couldn't".

Mopar tunes up SRT-4 --- Source: Autoweek

Mopar madness

Mopar, Chrysler’s longtime supplier of performance parts and accessories, has developed a range of tuner add-ons for the Dodge Neon-based SRT-4, including a turbo upgrade kit designed to push output past 300 hp from the 230-hp, turbocharged 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder in the stock SRT-4. Three kits are offered for ’03 and ’04 models: Stage 1 ($399) that adds 10 hp; a middling Stage 2 upgrade ($999) that adds 30 hp to 50 hp; or the full-bore Stage 3 kit that nets 310 hp to 355 hp (depending on the options). Pricing for the Stage 3 goodies will be released this month.

See at 355Hp you really need AWD (or RWD). I cant imagine the issues this car will have no matter what size or brand tires were used.

Very nice! Awesome little car.

I'd probably go with the Stage 2 as anything above that would probably be pretty useless due to traction issues

Exactly, that car will be getting nowhere fast, and when it does hook up, torque steer will send it into the ditch.

...

Although the car is clearly based on the current Neon, the prototype shows the trademark Dodge nose design and gives some idea of the increased size of the Ford Focus rival. The new platform underpinning the car will be co-developed with DaimlerChrysler ally Mitsubishi (note the Grandis in the background) and it will also underpin the new ’06 Lancer. The car is registered in Germany, suggesting Chrysler engineers are getting help from their Mercedes-Benz counterparts in preparing the car for European sales.

Think about it though, the Neon is basically equivalent to the Lancer (small compact 4drs). If the Neon wasn't given such a horrible name in years past, the SRT-4 would prob be held in the same regard as the EVO.

You can polish a turd all you want, but in the end its still a turd.

Now in terms of bang for the buck its up there, but its still a Neon.

If someone made that look like a stock Neon, that might just be the ultimate sleeper.

So is a Viper, what's your point? Before you say anything, I had a 00 Viper GTS and the car was flawless.

Anyway, my buddy has an 04 SRT4 and its a rip to drive. Would I want it as an everyday car? No....but it would make a fun 2nd cheap car to mod and have fun with.

Granted, Dodge may produce only 1,000. However, given its pressumed markup it could go for slightly less $$$ than a new Mustang GT. That said, I'd be hard pressed to get a Neon over an 05 GT for similar money.

Cobalts are cool as shit. I test drove an SS and it was a vicous little bastard. The gearing is agressive and the car is fun. High boost pulley, exhaust and a tune will get that little bastard close to 300 whp. My boy had a supercharged sunfire with the ecotek and it dynoed 276 to the wheels.

Are you retarded? It's an Auto-X package.....hence the smaller wheels (the standard SRT-4 comes with 17s).

I think they should have lowered it a bit though.

Can't complain about the power out of the SRT-4, but why does it have to be so ugly??

Oh well, doesn't matter. The Neon is defunct. Dodge has already green-lighted its replacement that we should be seeing in the next few years.

There’s no honour is driving a Neon. You’ll still be a laughing stock at 100 MPH!
