Chevrolet: Impala News
Not so new news but still worth looking at:
By DAVE GUILFORD | Automotive News
The Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo will get V8s when restyled versions come out for the 2006 model year, dealers were told at the make meeting.
The two mid-sized cars will offer optional supercharged engines for the 2004 model year, said Tommy Brasher, co-chair of the Chevrolet dealer council and owner of Brasher Motor Co. in Weimar, Texas.
In addition:
Chevrolet wants to get an additional 250,000 unit sales annually with the new Malibu mid-sized car, SSR pickup roadster, Colorado pickup and Equinox small SUV.
Chevy dealers at the divisional Mark of Excellence meeting in late spring will see the new Corvette and a Cavalier replacement on the Delta small-car platform, both due for the 2005 model year.
Chevrolet will push to get all major city dealer groups into local marketing groups. Dealer groups have the option of joining the marketing groups, which work with Chevrolet on advertising.
Chevrolet expects the redesigned Malibu and the new Malibu Maxx, a sport wagon variant, to draw younger customers to the brand. Also, one dealer said he was pleased that Chevrolet will offer a 4x2 crew cab version of the Colorado, which will replace the S10.
Chevrolet wants to increase the percentage of dealers in its certified-used program, which stands at 60 percent.
Brasher said the company also is enforcing standards and has removed some dealerships from the certfied-used program.

those supercharged 3.8 motors are fucking BULLETPROOF!!! there are many guys now with that motor in a GTP running 11's at the track!! and GTPs arent small, light cars either! watch out, just another round of cars that can destroy the CL-S stock vs. stock.....GTP's get 14.5 stock on average, id expect both this impala and monte carlo to do the same. as the weight difference is almost zero between all 3 cars

american car companies are stupid. a big engine wont make a car good. maby if they stiffened it up and made it handle better they would pick up sales and respect. not to mention POS interiors.

Chevrolet is busy perfecting the heavily updated 2006 Impala. The front-wheel drive sedan will remain on the W-car platform, but will be re-engineered and undergo major cosmetic changes as well.
Codenamed GMX360, the heavily redesigned Impala will arrive for the 2006 model year, along with the SS version seen here, indicated by the dual exhaust and spoiler.

Right, not saying it's tasteful or anything, but they're trying to go for the same look with their chrome accents... oh well. Another rental car on its way.

That looks like big Kia.

What a big fucking eyesore ...
I think this is a clear indication that there are some very talented people at GM and some complete incompetents ... And unfortunately GM has far more of the former than the latter.

None of the newer Imapalas will ever compare to the one's of the mid 90's.
Lookswise anyway.

Oh. Sorry.
For whatever it's worth, I am not sure if this is a rendering, a spy shot, or what.

Think it looks way better than the current impala and conservative style in this category seems to go hand in hand with good sales. Hopefully the interior will be there this time.

As for what this image is, I really doubt it's a spyshot. I'm pretty sure it's a rendering or a slight chop that found its way to getting published.

2006 Chevrolet Impala
Base engine: 3.5-liter V-6
Horsepower: 210
Height: 58.7 inches
Width: 72.9 inches
Length: 200.4 inches
Curb weight: not determined
What the automaker says:"The '06 Impala and Monte Carlo wear a new look, both inside and out, that conveys sophistication and exudes big-car roominess."
What you should know: Chevy woos fans of big power with an optional 303-hp, 5.3-liter V-8 in it's mid-sized cars.
Production possibility: Production starts next summer
