yeah, I used to feel similarly - the "purist" aspect of the Z06 - BUT - if this car is 20% stiffer than the C6Z06, then I can't complain - this is the new generation of convertibles, where they can have the rigidity needed without sacrifice. And, kudos to them for pulling it off.

More rigid than the old Z06, yes. But the same thing goes for the current base model Civic vs. the previous gen one. It is impressive given it's a convertible vs. hardtop. Nonetheless, the convertible is heavier and inferior in performance, it's a given. Plus soft tops look ugly with the top on

Study: Corvette Most "Made in America" Car
From here: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...car-study-says
Cars aren't just transportation, they're also symbols of national pride. That's particularly true in the post-2008 United States, where the auto industry bailout has turned the Big Three into political set pieces. Consequently, the annual "Made in America" Automotive Index produced by American University's Kogod School of Business can either be a feather in the cap or a black mark for automakers.
General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] has plenty to celebrate this year, though, because the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was at the top of this list for carswith the most American-made content. Meanwhile, the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia triplets tied for second place.
However, there was also a tie for first. The F-150 pickup truck from Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] had an identical score to the Corvette. For once, reality lives up to expectations: it's hard to think of two more American vehicles than the Corvette and F-150.
The index is compiled by American University professor Frank DuBois using data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. DuBois ranks 318 new-car models based on location of a manufacturer's headquarters, design, research, and manufacturing facilities, and where the profits go once the cars are sold.
For the record, under the American Automotive Labeling Act, if 75 percent of a vehicle's parts are manufactured in the U.S. or Canada, it is considered a domestic product. Perhaps not surprisingly, around 80 percent of Americans would prefer to buy a domestic car, according to a recent Consumer Reports National Research Center survey.

Student Wins $5,000 In 2015 Corvette Z06 Photo Contest

To help introduce its 2015 Corvette Z06 Convertible, Chevrolet gave three New York-based college students the rare opportunity to shoot the car before its world debut at the recent 2014 New York Auto Show to create entries for a photo contest. The students--none of whom had ever photographed a vehicle--had one day to create four dramatic images of the supercharged beauty, and the winner, decided by the most votes on the Corvette Facebook page, was to receive a $5,000 prize.
Well, the fans have voted Dan Wang’s photos the best. Wang, a 22-year-old advertising photography student at Rochester Institute of Technology, chose to portray how the Corvette Z06 Convertible would look on the road by using unique lighting techniques and background elements. All the shots were taken in the same dark room.
"The Corvette Z06 photo challenge has been a great experience,” Wang said in a statement. “I plan to use the prize money to help fund the pursuit of some of my personal projects, like documenting the Hardcore Happening, an annual Hot Rod Festival in upstate New York."
The shots from runners-up Mike Finkelstein, a fine art photography student from Pratt Institute, and Nico Sforza, a still-life photography student at New York’s School of Visual Arts, can be seen below--let us know in the comments which photos you like best.
The 2015 Corvette Z06 Convertible goes on sale early next year alongside the 2015 Corvette Z06 coupe. Both cars come powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V-8 delivering an estimated 625 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque. Both also come with the choice of a seven-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.

So, I guess the certs are in the wild?
I saw a yellow one at a Chik-Fil-A drive through yesterday. It doesn't have the impact that the couple has IMO.
Could have also been the color. And yes, the top was down.

Still hate the rear on this car even in Z06 guise. Noticed the silver 'vert doesn't have the same visual appeal in those "contest winning" pictures. I had hopes they would change the diffuser, but nope.

I'm with charliemike on this one. Corvettes don't look right with stripes. Unless it's a C4 Grand Sport.
On the other hand, I really like the matte black on the hood louver...

I just think saying it looks like a Cobalt is on the harsh and highly exaggerated side.

It was a subtle reference to the whole "Mustang looks like an Accord" comparison somebody made a while back
