Center speaker squeak fixed
I have had a squeak from the center dash speaker for a couple of weeks. I finally got the nerve to try and pull off the cover. I had tried using a very small screwdriver to pry it up, but became concerned that the cover or the dash material would be damaged. What I ended up doing was attach suction cups on either side of the cover and pulled straight up. Came up very easily and without any damage.
Once inside, I removed the speaker and pushed around the perimeter to find the source of the squeak. It ended up being just under the front lip. I cut a piece of the soft rubber-like material from the handle of one of my Eagle One tire gloss applicators. I took this piece and forced it into the gap between the underside of the front dash and what appears to be the unit which feeds the top display. (the one which shows the temp., phone icon, audio info., etc.) Voila...squeak is gone.
Not sure that anyone else has experienced this squeak. In addition to this, I have the steering wheel alignment issue and glovebox rattle. Suppose I'll have to have the dealer take care of these things..just trying to put off the inevitable grease marks and fingerprints as long as possible.
I have a couple of pictures and will post as soon as I can figure out how to do that
