hail to the victors
this is a huge disappointment. rear looks horrible and interior looks more like buick. they should've gone outside of the box and make a statement like CTS did.

There seems to be a fairly large market for fwd luxury vehicles, deville sold 2,558 in January. Don't really see a need for every Cadillac to be some sporty machine either, nothing wrong with a cruiser.

I thought this was supposed to be Cadillac's new and much improved S-Class competator?
Why is it the same old stuff just redone for 2005?

Typo? I don't recall GM having a 4.6L V6.

Next Gen. Cadillac DTS News **Going RWD (page 1)**
Future Products — Cadillac - - Source: Autoweek
DTS: The DTS sedan is Cadillac's only fwd model, and the current generation is likely to be the last. The redesigned car likely will be developed on GM's global rear-wheel-drive architecture, debuting for the 2011 model year. A name change is likely.

Very interesting. GM/Caddy has said for awhile that the Sigma platform was stretched as far as it could go (with the STS), so the big question has been what will the Caddy flagship be built on... looks like Zeta. Cool. They'd better pull out all of the stops with this car, if it want's to seriously fuck the the likes of the S-Class, 7-Series, LS, and A8. I think Caddy should mimick the others, offering a standard and long wheebase (with the U.S. only getting the long wheel base version). Sell both versions overseas. Ofcourse, they probably won't do it with this first gen, but it'd be nice; especially since the LS has caught up to do it now. This car can't come soon enough, IMHO. A true flagship is a glaring omission for a car line that wants to be the standard of the world .

GM launches Cadillac DTS-L
From Leftlanenews...
General Motors today unveiled a long-wheelbase version of its Cadillac DTS sedan called the DTS-L. Plans for a stretched version of the DTS were first revealed by Leftlane News in May when we uncovered a trademark filing for the name DTS-L.
The extended DTS-L will allow Cadillac to compete with Chrysler's Chrysler 300C Long Wheelbase and the aging Lincoln Town Car.

I prefer the Chineses STS.

^ Didn't I read somewhere ... the DTS-L intentionally has the really wide C-pillar so the occupant's identity can be 'hidden'. So the rear doors will stop short of the C-pillar, right?

The shift knob knob looks a little tall, but overall is nice.
Those seats look like the most comfortable things ever.

The materials look good, I just don't like the color of the leather. The gauge cluster is in dire need of a refresh. The exterior is also about 3 years past due for an overhaul too.
Is this supposed to compete with the Lexus LS and the Mercedes S-Class?

Looks a little too Camryish/Accordish for my tastes.
