Press release...
The Mercedes SL-Class is set to continue its long success story after the latest product update. The Brabus engineers and designers have left no stone unturned to make the roadster even sportier and more exclusive. Equipped with the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo twelve-cylinder twin-turbo engine that delivers 730 bhp, the SL 600 turns into the world's most powerful roadster. 0 - 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and 124 mph after just 10.9 seconds speak to its prowess as does its top speed electronically limited to 217 mph.
More power by increasing displacement is one of the core philosophies behind the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo engine. The displacement of the twelve-cylinder three-valve engine is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters with the help of a billet steel crankshaft, larger cylinder bore, special pistons and piston rods. The conversion also includes re-machining the cylinder heads and fitting them with special camshafts.
The peripherals of the twin-turbo engine also play a large role in the engine's power yield. The Brabus engineers have also developed a completely new turbocharging system with two larger turbochargers and more efficient intercoolers. Metal catalysts with low back pressure let the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo displacement engine breathe more freely.
The Brabus SV12 S Biturbo Engine
Rated power output jumps from standard 517 bhp at 5,000 rpm to 730 bhp at just 5,100 rpm. Simultaneously peak torque grows from 613 lb-ft to 974 lb-ft, available from 2,100 rpm. Custom engine mapping ensures that peak torque in the car is limited electronically to 812 lb-ft.
Performance of the powerful two-seater speaks volumes: With a sprint time of 3.8 seconds from rest to 60 mph, 10.5 seconds to 124 mph, 29.5 seconds to 186 mph and an electronically limited top speed of 217 mph, the Brabus SV S 12 Biturbo roadster is one of the fastest sports cars in the world.
Form and Function at the Highest Level of Perfection
The Brabus aerodynamic-enhancement parts are available for all current SL models and give the SL a sporty yet elegant appearance while at the same time providing aerodynamic benefits. At high speeds they reduce lift on the front axle and thus further improve directional stability.
For the latest SL generation the Brabus designers have developed a strikingly styled front fascia whose sophisticated shape reduces lift on the front axle. The large central air inlet further optimizes cooling of engine and front brakes. The high-quality Pur-R-Rim Brabus front fascia with its four auxiliary headlights is designed to be fastened to the original mounting points and thus simply replaces the production bumper.
The Brabus rocker panels smooth the airstream between the wheel arches and come with a useful extra feature: Pushing a button on the keyless-entry remote or pulling on an inside door handle activates four LED entrance lights on either side of the car. They illuminate the ground next to the vehicle and help to avoid unfortunate missteps in the dark.
The Brabus designer suit for the new SL is rounded out by the Brabus rear fascia with integrated diffuser. It too was designed to replace the original part and fits precisely in its place.
Just as important for a customized look are one-piece or multi-piece Brabus Monoblock light-alloy wheels that can be mounted on the two-seater in various designs and diameters ranging from 17 to 20 inches. The largest possible version for the R 230 series SL features multi-piece Brabus Monoblock VI, S or E wheels in size 9Jx20 in front with size 255/30 ZR20 tires. On the rear axle the wheels measure 10.5Jx20 with Pirelli or Yokohama tires in size 305/25 ZR20.
For further improving the incredible handling of the latest SL roadster Brabus has developed an electronic module for the ABC suspension that lowers the ride height by about half an inch.

From Motor Authority...
Less than a month after the official reveal of the 2009 facelifted SL range from Mercedes-Benz, German tuner Brabus has already completed a new performance upgrade for the lineup including the addition of a new V12 powered model based around its twin-turbo V12 S engine. Brabus hasn’t released official details about the new range but two images of the upcoming car have been leaked.
The new range will be called the R230 and some of the features include new two-piece forged Monoblock VI alloy wheels measuring 20in in diameter. The car also comes with a revised front bumper and rear diffuser housing an upgraded exhaust system. Other details include twin foglamps and LED daytime running lights.
Brabus’ previous kit for the SL-Class included a 730hp (537kW) V12 engine, but we suspect the latest version will be able to better the previous car’s output as well as its 0-100km/h time of four seconds. Top speed, however, is expected to be limited to 350km/h.

The new Mercedes SL class was very much in need of a facelift which the German Manufacturer duly responded by presenting a much sportier model back in January. Now come the roll of much respected tuner Brabus to work its magic.
The more striking design of the SL deserves a performance engine and what better engine than the 730hp 6.3-liter twin-turbo V12 originally developed for the Brabus Rocket (SL 600 only). The engine is mated to a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission and a special BRABUS limited-slip differential. Other high performance extras include a new sports exhaust system, a special suspension kit and the Brabus high performance brake system.
The new tuning package will now propel the SL from 0-62mph(0-100km/h) in just 4 seconds flat and up to 124mph(200km/h) in 10.5 seconds, the top speed lies at 219mph (350km/h).
The body kit was aerodynamically-enhanced in the wind tunnel to produce a striking appearance. The front bumper is replaced by the Brabus front apron featuring LED daytime running lights and high beam and fog lights. The rocker panels have three entrance lights which illuminate the floor around the vehicle. The customized look is completed by one-piece and multi-piece light alloy rims available in diameters of 17, 18, 19 and 20 inches. The interior of the SL also receieves the Brabus treatment with a increased level of luxury.

Press release...
Exclusive refinement for a unique automobile: BRABUS (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777-0, fax + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777 111, Internet www.brabus.com) now also customizes the sixth generation of the Mercedes SL. The measures include a striking BRABUS designer outfit, thrilling alloy wheels up to 20 inches in diameter, even more agile handling as a result of professional suspension tuning, a power increase to 520 hp (512 bhp) / 382 kW for a top speed of up to 300 km/h (186 mph) for the 500 SL, and interior options custom-tailored to the owner’s personal style.
Sporty-elegant body styling components, tuned in the wind tunnel for maximum aerodynamic efficiency, are the BRABUS designers’ specialty. With or without AMG Sport package: Custom-tailored front fasciae, add-on components for the side sills and rear fasciae were developed for both body styles of the SL. There is also a BRABUS rear spoiler and side air vents for the front fenders. For a perfect fit all components are manufactured in OEM quality from high-grade PUR plastics.
Just as important for a custom look are the OEM-quality BRABUS Monoblock wheels, which can be mounted on the new roadster in four different designs and with diameters of 18, 19 and 20 inches. The largest combination to fit the R 231 model series SL features BRABUS Monoblock F, Q or R wheels in size 9Jx20 in front with size 255/30 ZR 20 tires and size 9.5Jx20 wheels with 295/25 ZR 20 tires on the rear axle. BRABUS recommends high-performance tires from Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA.
To be able to further improve upon the already high level of driving dynamics of the new Mercedes roadster BRABUS has developed custom-tailored suspension components in collaboration with technology partner BILSTEIN. BRABUS sport springs are available for the SL 350 with conventional steel suspension. For all SL models with active ABC suspension the BRABUS suspension engineers have developed an electronic module that lowers the ride height by about 25 millimeters.
This makes the SL 500 the perfect beneficiary of even more power. The BRABUS B50 - 520 PowerXtra CGI power kit wrestles an additional 85 horsepower from the 4.7-liter eight-cylinder Biturbo engine. BRABUS recommends using fully synthetic high-performance motor oil from MOTUL.
The BRABUS PowerXtra module with plug-and-play design is integrated into the engine electronics to generate more power as a result of special mapping for injection and ignition as well as of moderately increased boost pressure. But that’s just one part of the equation. The conversion also includes an auxiliary water-to-air intercooler powered by an auxiliary electric pump. The drop in charge air temperature benefits not only power yield but also engine life even under extreme operating conditions such as in the desert, for example.
After the conversion the engine puts 520 hp (512 bhp) / 382 kW instead of the standard 435 hp (429 bhp) / 320 kW on tap, accompanied by a peak torque of 820 Nm (604 lb-ft). Consequently the two-seater accelerates to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. The BRABUS Vmax unit, another component of the engine tuning, allows limiting the top speed electronically to 250, 275 or 300 km/h (155, 172, 186 mph).
A BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust system with four chrome-plated tailpipes is indispensable for an SL with BRABUS high-performance engine. It is also perfect for all roadster owners longing for a sportier exhaust note and a more striking rear appearance of their two-seater. BRABUS will offer a version with butterfly valve for the SL 500 shortly. It will allow choosing between a soft and a thrillingly sporty exhaust note via a button on the steering wheel.
The BRABUS limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent can improve handling even further.
The two-seated cockpit can receive even more individual character and luxury attributes at BRABUS. The product lineup ranges from scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo and a speedometer with 320-km/h or 360-km/h dial (200 mph or 225 mph) to carbon-fiber or fine wood trim sets in any imaginable color and with a variety of surface finishes.
The company upholstery shop creates exquisite BRABUS interiors from especially soft yet durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara.
