People will buy BMWs regardless of price. BMW has achieved that pinnacle where price isn’t nearly as important as status.

That, and seeing as a good portion of the country is living for pay day to pay day (https://www.debt.com/edu/personal-finance-statistics/ )

What’s tacking on another 8-10k on something they couldn’t afford before, or now? All they’ll do is extend their finance terms to as long as possible to make the purchase.

Don’t get me wrong- I know there are plenty of people who can afford these cars. But there are likely even more who can’t, who still go for them.

Saving statistics

  • A 2018 survey from Bankrate revealed that (Numbers match what Debt.com previously reported.)
    • Only 39% of Americans could have enough savings to cover a $1,000 emergency
    • 44 % couldn’t cover a $400 out-of-pocket emergency expense

^ i dont know how accurate those stats are.... $10k might be difficult for some but i dont believe 60% of the country can't come up with $1,000 or 44% cant come up with $400.

Wait, are you talking about your Canada?

I'd believe it. I know enough people in that exact situation.

Sad reality is that there are more people out there than we think making minimum wage, or close to it. Takes a while to save up $1,000 even while limiting spending when your wages are that low.

Then there's people like this one guy I know who is aiming to make $200k within the next 2-3 years and he complains about being broke
