So if this is a new roadster, BMW will end up with three roadster since there are very strong rumors of the return of an ala-Z8 roadster. Also I am "hearing" rumors of the Z4 getting an aluminum hardtop and the next Z8 getting a carbon fiber hard top. That will leave the Z2, I am guessing, with a soft top which makes sense price-wise.

This is probably based on the 1 series so it will only come with a 4 banger and should be priced pretty cheap. Sounds like a good move but will probably be pegged as a chick car. Maybe it will take some of the chick car appeal away from the Z4. I kinda like the Z4.

The announcement of this thing is like GM saying they will rush the production of their next full size truck/SUV offerings - the rag top fad is over regardless of price - look at the sales of the Z4 and others in the category. Nice car in a segment that is losing sales.

I like the exterior styiing much much better then Z4. Need to see the interior.
I'm still waiting to see what the 1 series will offer. Specially, after falling in love with the A3....but not caring for the stick in it.

Could it have beeen targeted to their existing lineup only? At the time of the comment that is.
