BMW: Z2 news **Possibly Not Cancelled and Spied (page 2)**

Source: Autobild.de

Apparently this will go against the Miata, Sky, Solstice crowd.

To me it looks almost as large as the current Z4, so could this be the next generation Z4?

So if this is a new roadster, BMW will end up with three roadster since there are very strong rumors of the return of an ala-Z8 roadster. Also I am "hearing" rumors of the Z4 getting an aluminum hardtop and the next Z8 getting a carbon fiber hard top. That will leave the Z2, I am guessing, with a soft top which makes sense price-wise.

This is probably based on the 1 series so it will only come with a 4 banger and should be priced pretty cheap. Sounds like a good move but will probably be pegged as a chick car. Maybe it will take some of the chick car appeal away from the Z4. I kinda like the Z4.

That's the understatement of the day... I agree 100%. The Z4 looks so over done, where here the softened face and concaves works well. I'd push it.

Huh. Hadn't thought about it being derived from the 1, but that makes perfect sense. If so, this car will probably be a whole lot of fun. Probably will see a bunch of chicks in it, though. Shit, I'd buy it for the wifey.

But in typical BMW fashion, it's likely going to be priced pretty close to a base Z4.

Low price is relative - compared to Sky, Solstice, Miata it will still be 5k more. BMW said they won't bring anything to the US with less than a 6cyl so the engine out of the 325 will be lowest trim possible.

The announcement of this thing is like GM saying they will rush the production of their next full size truck/SUV offerings - the rag top fad is over regardless of price - look at the sales of the Z4 and others in the category. Nice car in a segment that is losing sales.

Just too expensive ... It's stuck in the middle ... Too sporty for SLK buyers, not sporty enough for Boxster shoppers, and too expensive for Miata shoppers. Just my opinion of course

wow, i can see so many people mistaking it for a z4... or vice versa.

also, the wheels look almost 6-series-identical.

I like the exterior styiing much much better then Z4. Need to see the interior.

I'm still waiting to see what the 1 series will offer. Specially, after falling in love with the A3....but not caring for the stick in it.

Really? When did they say that?

Could it have beeen targeted to their existing lineup only? At the time of the comment that is.
