Suzuka Master
So firing Chris Bangle wasn't enough. Maybe they should have killed the whole design team.
I agree that they should kill this program faster than Honda killed the HSC project (not that I didn't love that car...it was just going to be way more expensive than they were trying to make it).

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this just a 'wagon' version of the 5-series? Just like BMW has sold for years in the 3-series.
If it's built on a truck platform and has 4 doors and a hatch in the back, its an SUV.
If it's built on a car platform and has 4 doors and a hatch in the back, its a wagon.
If it has a sliding door, its a van.
This 'crossover' nonsense is just a marketing gimmick. Kudos to Dodge for making a hemi-powered wagon and calling it what it is. No one confuses the Magnum with a soccer mom-mobile.

I hate how they're starting to call 4-door cars coupes now. First the CLS, now this, these cars dont have to be called coupes for people to like them, it just makes it sound ridiculous. This is an interseting marketing strategy...not sure if it works or not...

Looks better than some of the other concepts we've seen from BMW lately.

BMW will present a X5 crossover-coupé, which should be available in 2008. It has four doors and AWD. The car will be produced in Spartanburg in the US. The car is 4,70 meters long. It will be not as high as the X5, so driivng it you should have the feeling that you're driving a sportscar than a SUV.

Is AMS the source of this?
If you click on the source of the above X5 CGIs you will see that the above "coupe" CGI also is shown in the same thread, but I did not take this rumor very seriously, hence disregarded.
What BMW needs is a crossover ala-GST. If that X5 coupe is their answer to that, then we need more info. Also, it's peculiar that they are keeping the X5 name for such an offering. They should give it a unique denotation in my opinion, like Mercedes did.

Yeah, thanks for the note gav...
I have no idea what to take of this but posted it anyhow as the market for SUV-car-combos a la the Murano, RD-X, and FX35/45 have been a recent trend...
So, that's why I considered it plausible...but, I dunno...

Werd! One would think that all these brains in the marketing department would now that 'coupe' is french; which means 'cut'. Thus, when you cut a 4 door car in
half, you get 2 doors.
As someone who grew up speaking creole(french), it doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't think that rendering is very accurate. I can't imagine BMW would approve that huge hot steaming pile of bloody putrid fucking festering raw nasty ugly shit-garbage

They approved the new Z4, 7 and 6 series.
