How hot is the 6-series? - - Source: Autospies
If you walk in to your local BMW dealer and ask about the new six, just about every dealer you speak with will tell you that it is REALLY HOT, they’re impossible to get and most people have to pay $10K over sticker to get one now…
Being the natural skeptics we are, we decided to do an informal check to so we could tell you what the REAL DEAL is…
Based on our phone conversations and undercover visits to local dealers it seems they’re either stretching the truth or they’ve all bought into the hype like the rest of the world.
Although at first, most sales people said we’d have to get on a list, pay over, etc., somehow they were miraculously able to find one during our visit or upon return phone calls a few hours later from the salespeople…at MSRP or BELOW!
Also, look how many are available on AutoTrader.com
And on eBay
Notice how NONE of the bids are at MSRP or above…
Which bring us to the next question…If they’re this plentiful already, what will happen a few months down the road when the supply is even MORE plentiful?

I think it costs to much. 70k with nothing. 80k with stuff. Then u have the faster E55/RS4 with room for 4 and stuff in the same price range.
I dunno, we'll see. But as much as I love V-8, RWD coupes, that is too much dough for the 6, IMO.

BMW is on crack.
The 545i starts at $55k ... so, BMW is trying to tell me that for essentially strapping a different shell on the car they want to charge me $15k more?
Thanks, but I'd pass.

not trying to prove anyone wrong, but the first hit I get at Autotrader for a "used" 645ci is this one:
2004 BMW 645CI, MINERAL SILVER METALLIC,GRAY SOFT TOP,XENON LIGHTS W/WASHERS,18ALLOY WHEELS,LEATHER,ALUMINUM TRIM,COLD WEATHER PKG,LUMBAR
Price: $89995
Color: Silver
Miles: 10
VIN: WBAEK73404B320322
Yeah I'd say that's slightly over MSRP.......

Also I have to be honest and say, this car really doesn't do much for me. I look at it, and I don't feel anything. It's just like, so-so.
The car doesn't have any emotion, for being the car it is. It doesn't look mean, it doesn't look aggressive. Remember the 6 series from the 80's?? Remember the M6?? Yeah that car looked like a tiger or a panther or some other wild cat. From the front it looked so angry like it was about to rip your head off. It wanted you to drive it, and drive it hard. This one? I get NO such feelings, at all. The feeling I get from this car, if anything, is "hi, I was designed by 10 people. Can you tell?"

Furthermore, the average price reported on Autotrader for 40 vehicles found in USA is $81999. The highest price reported is $105500.
645ci's @ Autotrader
I just clicked again, the top link is $99k.

Oh and to add.... the last M5 was aggressive looking. So is the current M3...... so this is not an 80's thing. Even the M Coupe and Roadster looked quite tough.

Ok, I stopped by a BMW dealer after it closed and they had a 645Ci Convertible out front. The car is a bloated boulevardier. It's more SC430 than 911. I don't care how fast it is, it's too damn big. The car looks enormous ... like it weighs 5000lbs.

My neighbor got one (he seems to be working for a dealership, he always brings home some nice cars).
He had a 6 parked in his driveway with the nose out to the street (showoff!).
Anyway, that's a pretty big front overhang for a BMW.

Gets 6 cly. engine, at least in Europe for now...
Six Into Six Will Go - - Source: AutoExpress
September will see a new engine added to BMW's 6-Series coupe and convertible. Currently only available with a 4.5-litre V8, the range will be bolstered by the 3.0-litre straight-six that powers
3, 5 and 7-Series models.

Its still unclear if the 3.5 will be a V8(as some rumors suggest) or a V6. Rumors also suggest that it will have somwhere around 275HP or so..... my guess is that it will be introduced late next yr with a model above the 330 and below the M3 to fill the power gap. Should appear on the 4,5,6 and 7 as well.

Gap-fillers, to the M cars, will be turbo engines and M cars will only get NA engines, per BMW.

2.7 liter V6 = 200HP
3.3-3.5 liter V6 = 255HP
2.8-3.0 liter turbo = 310HP (a 3.2 liter biturbo making 380HP is all but official, though no word that it will be used in the 3 and 4 series cars, the 5 series will for sure get it though)
3.6-4.0 liter V8 for M cars = 360HP (from the latest rumors that the M6 will get 50HP more than the M5, I am guessing that the M4 will get more HP than the M3, so this engine might make 400HP in M4 trim)

Ive been reading a couple pages back, and everyone is suffering from sticker for the price of the 6.
Now, I'm not saying its a cheap car, but I remember the former 8 series being around the same price, maybe even more (i know more for the 850) and that was 8-10 years ago.
So, I was actually expecting the price of the 6 to be pretty high.

I'm not sure the new 6 will be a high production vehicle. The M version certainly wont be, and you can kind of the think of the 850 as the M version of the series.
