Burn some dust here
The price of this is a ripoff. The coupe starts at 70 so you figure the convert (using BMW's logic) will start at 80. Load it out and your in the high 80's to low 90's. No thanks...Ill take an M3 vert for 60 or spend 5,000 more for an SL500. I love this car but BMW has lost their marbles if they think that this will sell for that price.

There is no way in hell I'm paying 80k for a softtop convertible. SL 500 anyone? I still don't like the styling and wouldn't be caught driving it. I do like the interior though.

My god.. That's a lot of $$.. No thanks BMW! What are they smoking??
And the X5 4.8s for $70k!!! I'd much rather have a Cayenne Turbo for not a tremendous amount more!

BMW Drops 6-Series Convertible Lid at Detroit
By Marty Padgett
Sales have never been better for BMW's U.S. operations, according to Tom Purves, CEO of BMW USA. For 2003, the BMW Group here, including MINI and Rolls-Royce, sold 276,869 cars in the States, an increase of 8 percent over 2002 and an all-time sales record for the Bavarian automaker. For the first time, the company's U.S. operations are the sales leader among all markets, including Germany. MINI alone accounted for more than 36,000 units of U.S. sales and will likely post more sales increases in the summer as a Cooper Convertible comes on line, Purves added. BMW AG as a whole sold more than 1.1 million vehicle worldwide last year, a figure expected to rise as well with the addition of new models like the X3, 6-Series Coupe and the new 6-Series convertible, shown for the first time at the Detroit show. The 645Ci convertible shares its 4.4-liter V-8 with the 645Ci Coupe, and makes 325 hp through any of the three transmissions BMW will offer on it: a six-speed manual, a six-speed Steptronic automatic or a six-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) with Formula 1-style shifting. The convertible will hit 60 mph in roughly six seconds on its way to a top speed of 155 mph. A DVD navigation system will be standard. Pricing starts from $76,995.

BMW’s performance offensive includes hot version of soon-to-debut 6 Series - - - By AUTOWEEK
One of the surprises of the Geneva motor show earlier this month was the BMW M5 concept, a 500-hp beast with a V10 derived from the engine used in the Williams-BMW Formula One car. We hear the production version of that monster will hit the streets this fall, but that is just the beginning for the latest onslaught of M products, as these spy shots of the M6 coupe reveal.
Due early next year, the M6 will take the M5 formula up a notch, likely debuting with a 550-hp version of the same 5.5-liter V10 powerplant mated to a seven-speed sequential manual gearbox. BMW reportedly has an M6 convertible in the plan, too.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, consider that the standard, everyday 6 Series—built from 5 and 7 Series parts and powered by a 325-hp 4.4-liter V8 from the 7—is now arriving on our shores, at a price estimated to top $80,000. Imagine what the M treatment will do to that sticker price...
