Auto Spies picks the most overrated vehicles for 2004
You don't want to be on this list!
Cadillac Escalade- No better and not worth the price difference from a Chevy Tahoe Z71
MB C-class- A mediocre effort by MB at best
Porsche Cayenne S/Turbo- The dumbest and least attractive SUV made
Audi A8- About as edgy as a midwest county fair
Bentley Arnage- No better way to buy some depreciation
Entire Jaguar product line- The mercury of luxury cars
Mercedes-Benz SLK- Just about every company should re-think the offerings in this segment. We think they've lost their relevance
Rolls-Royce Phantom- The choice of the outgoing head of the NYSE
Maybach- If it was $50K more than an S-class, they would have hit a home run
Scion XA/XB- The "Official" car of Japanese undertakers?
VW Phaeton- A VW Quantum on steroids
Lincoln Navigator- On a scale of A to F, it's a "C"
Ford Expedition- One of the worst bumpy highway rides, you'll ever take. Unless you're driving an old one
Land Rover Discovery- The reason they don't make watches is because they haven't figured out how to make them leak yet!
Cadillac XLR- Better than the Allante and not a bad car, but we think there is very little market for an $75K american ragtop
Mercedes-Benz CLK- The new design just doesn't work for us...it's too Honda Accord coupe-ish for our taste

i agree with that list almost completely. Not sure about the Jag satatement. Escalade is weak when compared to the competition. The new CLK is very weak IMO. The old body style is much better looking. Havent driven a new a8 -looks good, but i heard it is very heavy, rough and underpowered. That is sad considering how nice the outgoing model is. Caddy XLR should do alright...by i dont think (altleast lookwise) they hit the mark. Close, but no cigar.

The Creator
idiotic.
the VW Phaeton comment ruins their whole review.
the VW Phaeton is the most well built and highest quality luxury car in its segment on the market.
a quantum it is not.

Burn some dust here
Ok, anyone who has owned a Yukon and a Escalade or even driven both will tell you that the Escalade is such a far cry over the Yukon its sickening. Most of the cars I agree with except this and the clk. Any car that has a 2+yr waiting list on it must be doing something right.

And for the biggest Automobile photo thiefs on the internet........
Auto Spies
They are fucking worthless.
I would take whatever they say with a grain of salt.
Absolutely disagree on the Cayenne, A8, Phantom, Phaeton, Arnage, XLR.

NO WAY the A8 should be on that list. My mother has a 2000 A8 and it is fu(kin DOPE. That car way outdoes MB or even some BMW's and the new one has like 350 HP or something AND QUATTRO. I mean it is better in the snow then my 1995 Yukon 4x4. Seriously. One of the best lux cars on the market in that segment. BAD CALL there.
