Audi to launch 580 hp RS7
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/249476/
Audi’s new A7 Sportback is in the final stages of development and insiders now confirm that the four-door coupé will be unveiled at the Paris motor show in September. UK sales will start in March next year and a V10-powered RS variant will be part of the range. The A7, pictured here almost undisguised, is the first model based on Audi’s new mid-size platform, which will underpin next year’s seventh-generation A6. The 4950mm-long A7 has been conceived to provide stiff competition to the new Mercedes-Benz CLS, also set to be revealed at the Paris show, and a production version of BMW’s recently unveiled Gran Coupé concept due in 2012. Topping the line-up will be an RS7 Sportback performance model running a 580bhp version of Audi’s naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine in combination with the firm’s new seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Other models in the line-up will use a range of V6, V8 and V10 petrol and diesel engines. Among the engines expected to account for the majority of UK sales are Audi’s new 330bhp supercharged 3.0-litre V6 direct injection petrol and 250bhp 3.0-litre V6 common-rail diesel. Previewed by the Sportback concept shown at last year’s Detroit show, the production version of the A7 Sportback is clothed in a sleek four-door fastback body similar in style to the A5 Sportback. Some design cues hark back to the Audi 100 S coupé made between 1970 and 1976. “The overall look is less formal than that of the A8,” says Audi design boss Stefan Sielaff, who suggests that the new car will appeal to an increasing number of luxury car buyers who place good looks ahead of overall functionality. Inside, the A7 Sportback receives a unique dashboard, previewed by that gracing the earlier concept car, and nominal seating for four. A three-person rear bench will be offered as an option. |
580hp? :what:

I was always surprised at the low torque levels in twin turbo 10-12-cylinder VW/Audi/Bentley engines.
The RS6 makes only what, 479 tq or something? It should be exceeding that figure by at least 75. Bring on a supercharged V-10! |
I don't really like where this is going. Audi seems to be pumping out a bunch of new RS models by simply shoehorning a hi-po engine onto the same platform. This isn't like before where RS actually meant they put a lot of effort into making the cars perform - they're becoming like a less capable variant of the //M cars.
|
But I think it sells well just like that. If they aren't getting any good sales numbers with this product plan, they would probably think about doing something else, but they are not. so..
|
while i do think its pretty good...audi has plenty more better design elements in their playbook to make this thing look better.

this thing at the moment looks ugly...

Spied: 2012 Audi S7 interior
http://www.leftlanenews.com/audi-s7.html
Just yesterday we brought you the first images of Audi’s upcoming S7 sedan, and today we have the first images of the high-performance four-door’s interior. The performance-minded S7 sedan should arrive in Audi dealers in late 2011 or early 2012. Spotted testing at Germany’s famed Nürburgring, the S7 is clearly being design as an answer to Mercedes-Benz’ CLS 63 AMG model. It remains unknown which of Audi’s powerplants is lurking underhood, but most reports suggest a V8. Output also remains unknown, but given the range-topping RS7 is expected to feature a 580 horsepower V10, something in the 450 range sounds reasonable. Inside, the S7’s dash is completely different than the A8’s, with more of a sporty, cockpit feel. Despite the leather boot on the shift knob, this S7 has Audi’s seven-speed automatic transmission, but the paddle shifters on the steering wheel should still deliver plenty of driver control. The standard-issue A7 should hit the market later this year, but Audi will likely delay the launch of the S7 model by about 12 months. Given that timeframe, expect the S7 to debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. |

Those matte black wheels look nice. Hopefully that'll make it into the factory option list.
|
hmmmmm
|
I actually have a friend that just got back from Germany and got a ride in the S7 this past week. (he is a director for Oshkosh truck) He said its a wicked car, and really wishes it was out here.

Audi A7: official pictures
|
I have watched the presentation of the Audi A7 Sportback right now on Facebook...
this car looks amazing, really. |
Sorry, just not buying that.
Interior is great. |
Exterior- Too predictable. I'd probably just pocket the 10K premium it will likely be and just buy the new A6, because unlike the CLS vs E-Class, it just doesn't look that much better than today's A6. That's me.
Interior- Typical Audi awesome. |
liking it. not loving it like the bmw gc.
|
I like it. And, though I will never be able to afford it, I would get it.
|
I really like it.
|
Much better looking than the Panamera
I love Audi interiors, they use wood but it still looks sporty. Not many of the other luxury guys can perform that kind of balance act. |
fail. the rear canopy is not befitting.
its not quite a 4 door coupe. its more of a weird niche station wagon...like the accord crossover. |
Don't care for the exterior.
Interior doesn't look as classy as typical Audi....hmmmmm...with the A8, and now this Audi is making me :nervous: |
At first, I couldn't get enough of Audi's front ends. The fact that it looks identical over their entire line up makes it a boring looking car now. The interior looks great, typical Audi, but the exterior just doesn't do it. |
Absolutely amazing looking! I see both understated elegance and sportiness that are perfectly matched here. I love what Audi does for these sport backs. I so wished that we were going to get the A5 Sport back here too...

|
I dont love the interior...not when compared to the current A4 and A6 layouts which are some of the best out there right now imo.
|
|
I'll leave you the S6, and I'll get this one... with an R more:tongue:

Yeah, though I like the A7, I would rather rock the S6. |
580 hp, V10, ^^ that's the right car for going to the supermarket on Sundays morning...
|
I meant the RS6 of course...
|
The A7 looks fine with the exception of the front. It looks pretty bloated. I'm gonna reserve my judgment until I see it in person though.
