Anthracite with 18" rims is simply awesome
My wife and I pretty much decided we wanted a silver TL until we saw a Antrhacite TL with the 18" rims on it at the dealership. It looked so nice that I am now rethinking my color choice. The gun smoke finish on the rims simply looks awesome on an Anthracite car. I'm sure they'd look good on anything, but it brings the, in some ways dull, anthracite out of it's cage. I'll try to get a picture and post it soon. I'm going for a test drive today to see how these tires and rims "feel"
BTW - The 18" rubber has a very aggressive tread design. Which me likes a lot :P

No, it didn't have the quartz interior. I had planned on quartz for myself, but am now leaning towards ebony (this car had the ebony). I think the aluminum goes better with the ebony than the quartz now after seeing both.

Sorry to continue this worthless thread but I just talked to my salesman. Of course, he wasn't there on Sunday when I saw this beautiful car. But, get this.....they want $2795 for the 18" rims and tires!!!!! So, I asked him "Any reason why you all want ~$1000 more than what Acura's website lists them at? That can't be your installation fee, can it?". Naturally, he didn't have a real answer but he said that it is negotiable. I thought to myself "you're damn right it's negotiable" So, my question is...what have the rest of you seen as far as prices for the 18" rims? And, just what is the deal on the 17" rims and tires that are already included in the base price? Do you get a credit? Do you get to keep both? What is the price for the 18" wheels/tires at the parts counter 3 months after the purchase of the car?
Edit: Sorry, I just read the earlier thread that attempts to answer my questions. Nevermind.

Yeah, now that I researched it a little $200/tire + $250/wheel (typical, nothing special, 18" rims and tires) does come to $1800. And that's just for starters. It can go much higher. So, I am not surprised that the 18" rims option is over $2000 coming from the dealer. With that in mind the $2795 I was quoted is not all that much out of line. But, if I decide that's what I want, they need to be willing to credit me for the 17" rims and tires in some way or another (at least $500 before I can justify it). They don't get them from me for free. This would be a deal breaker for me.

our price on the wheels and tires is $2399. If you look on the website, the price there is for the wheels ONLY. Our cost on the recommened tires is somewhere around $190 a piece. By the time we get done with Mounting and Balancing we're making about $150 bucks on the whole set. I couldn't believe it myself when i first saw it.

The 18" Acura wheels are a total rip-off, especially if you don't get the 17" wheels and you have to buy 18" tires.
I think you are better off just buying the 18" Acura wheels for $1,200 from a dealer and buy your own tires. Then take the 17" wheels which comes with the car and sell them on ebay.

How much would decent all season tires cost for the 18"s
I got Dunlop D60s now which I love and they are only like 85 each. Great traction, great tire
They are more standard size though, not sure the premium for low profile tires. I am not a racer, just want a good all weather tire. 190 seems high per tire as it is 2x what I have now and I think mine are excellent. These premium or sport tires?

They're really not premium tires. They are slightly wider than a normal 18 inch tire for a front wheel drive car, BUT there are quite a few cars out there that use this size stock (BMW).
Also, when you think about it, $190 is almost the same cost as the Michelin replacements from the old Type S cars.
I checked into the 18" Michelins for these wheels and they were running around $220 a piece. Wow.

If I add $2399 and the $150 stated profit I get $2549. Call it $2550. Mounting and balancing is pretty insignificant (correct me if I'm wrong here, but it shouldn't be more than $50). So, I come up with roughly $2600 as a fair asking price for the wheels option. Is that what you are telling us? Or am I missing something? I can see that being the case, but I still want some kind of credit for the 17" rims and tires. Afterall they are included in the base MSRP of $32,650 right? Don't really need 8 wheels and 8 tires now do I? And I certainly don't want to pay for 8 wheels and 8 tires

SOLD!!!
I'd take that deal in a heartbeat. I am going to take that to my salesman and see if he will match. That deal on top of paying MSRP for the car should be quite reasonable for the dealer.

I refuse to buy Dunlops ever. About 10 years ago, one of my rear Dunlops delaminated while I was going 60 mph on the freeway. I tried to slow down slowly but the delamination caused my car to do a 180 on the freeway. Luckly, the car behind me was far enough way to stop in time. Otherwise, I might not be here today. Thats why I refuse to buy Dunlops ever

$695 for a spoiler is too much IMO. I guess they want $296 to install it? Plus another $522 to install the underbody spoilers?? C'mon. Install should be less $200 for everything and they want over $800??? There went your $800 credit for the 17" wheels and tires.
Per Acura's website and this is MSRP. I'm sure the dealer gets the parts cheaper.
$399 for the deck lid spoiler plus installation.
$499 for the wing spoiler plus installation.
$1073 complete underbody spoilers plus installation.

Ah, so there's more to it. OK. Gotta look at the big picture.
This is where Acura does the consumer right by making almost everything standard. But, then these accessories complicate things again.

Acuraguy,
$2399 is the retail price for the wheels and tires installed here at our store. Sorry if you missed that earlier. I was simply showing you what the average dealer has in the wheels and tires costwise to arrive at that price.

Another thing to consider is what I'm doing when my SSM/EB 6M arrives next month.
Screw the stock 18" wheels and tires, go get a nice set of your own 19" (or 18") wheels and tires for roughly $2,200, then keep the stock set to be able to switch out come "pothole season."
This will keep your nice wheels in better shape as well as keeping some miles off those expensive/soft 19" tires. Just a thought...

no, but generally speaking, the lower profile a tire is, the higher performance it is intended for. Higher performance = softer rubber compound = less tire life.
I would search the internet for the exact size Dunlop you need. Generally you can come up with a decent idea from that. If you would like, I can call my tire supplier in the morning and get a price for you for the Dunlops. Just let me know.
