With the new 6AT I think this is going to the the 'true' flagship for the time being. Lets face it, the RL is dead. Within Acura many considered the MDX to be the true 'top of the line' and this should replace it. I'd expect pricing to be in the 45-52 range depending on the number of packages. Hopefully it will be simple: Base, Tech and Tech with HPT. I hope they don't see the need for Entertainment systems since it is not as family oriented as the MDX.

Not that I'm a fan of this monster but it could be family oriented just as much as the MDX. it's still a larger sized people mover with more storage capacity. isnt' that what most families look for anyway? A family of four could find this very helpful to them, a family of five, perhaps not as much.

Yesterday a bunch of images of a new Acura Crossover Concept hit the web prior to the vehicle’s 2009 New York Auto Show debut.
According to the buzz over at Temple of VTEC and Acurazine (who originally leaked all the teasers to the Acura concept), the concept hints at the future production version of what is known as the 2011 Acura MSX. The MSX will be aimed directly at BMW’s X6 and Infiniti’s FX crossovers.
Power is expected to come from Acura’s 3.7L V6 making 300-hp or Acura’s long-rumored V8. They will be mated to a 6-speed automatic.
We’ll bring you more details live from the 2009 New York Auto Show next month.

I can't believe even for a second that Acura would come out a new model AND a V8 at the same time...that would just actually be really exciting and thats not Acura's way.

Don't believe it until the press release

It would be counter to what they seem to be doing recently. They have finally learned that they need to stagger product introductions better. Look a the TL launch. First FWD (lots of press) then the AWD (more press) and later this year 6MT (the press has to test is all over again).

I think it would be funny and kinda sad if the Accord got the 6AT before the TL (considering the Accord is Honda's top selling product and is due for MMC before the TL)

AWESOME that it's potentially got a 6AT. It's about fracking time! Should do something for mileage. I am patiently waiting for it to go in the next RL, though.

Acura has always been a step behind Honda. They built the 97 CL on the 94 accord platform that was redesigned a year later. The Accord got a hybrid that really should have been put in all the Acura's.

I hear its good for about 2 mpg over the 2009. As fo the RL, I suppose it will get it too, but that might depend on how long they play to use the current chassis. If they are really moving to a FR chassis, it will probably need a different new transmission. At that point, it would make sense to start moving this 6AT to the Honda line.

From what I gather (of course from unnamed sources lol), FR has been cancelled, but hell, what do I know

Is the 6AT confirmed by Acura for this vehicle, or is that just more sensationalism? I mean the 09 TL was supposed to have one too and the 09 RL was supposed to have 320 hp .

Why should it be a surprise that they have one? People have been whining about the lack of one for years and they have obviously been working on something. I'm sure it will be confirmed at NY, then you can start complaining that they didn't release the price at the show.

Just parse your rumors better. I don't recall anyone saying TL was getting 6AT or the RL at 320. I also don't recall Acura even confirming FR so the demise of FR should be taken with equal skepticism. As for the new vehicle getting 6AT, there are good sources saying it's happening (Jeff) and he's known for some time.

6 speed is enough.
What's the point of that many gear changes? Sometimes it's better to hit 60 in 2nd gear.
Acura better have an improved grille. otherwise, the joke will continue to be on the Acura owners.
This car will likely be quite similar to the 5 series GT.
Acura needs a real coupe, by the way.

We have received a bit of info on Acura's new sport crossover today. This information has reportedly been relayed to vendors who are supplying components for the project. At the moment we cannot ascertain how legitimate the information is, so take it at face value for now.
The information confirms that the "MSX" (this is what these folks are calling it, not sure if that's what it really will be called) will be launched at the upcoming New York International Auto Show. Also indicated is a production start date of March 30, 2009 at the Alliston, Ontario plant. Supposedly Acura was initially asking for pricing quotes based upon an annual production run of around 100,000 units, but they will actually be building them at a rate of around 80 per day (20,000/year). These sources indicate that the "MSX" will be priced "well above the MDX". As has been long suspected, the only thing currently on the table for the powertrain is a V6 with "over 300hp" (that sounds like another 3.7L V6 to me).
The onsale date has tentatively been set for late May/early June.
....May-June???

I don't get it. Why does Acura insist on building an expensive (suv/crossover/wagon?) that plays in a very specific niche market, when they could have spent their R&D money much more wisely on developing a nice, sporty RWD/SH-AWD coupe based on the TL or better yet, the TSX to compete in the continuily growing sport coupe market?!?? If they wanna step up and compete with BMW, they should make a car that can actually challenge BMW's 3 series instead of going for an all or nothing approach of taking on one of BMW's "premium SAV's."
I don't get it. It.....Just.....Doesn't.....Make......Any....Sense !
Sorry, but Acura really needs to get their priorities straight.
I sure hope, for Acura's sake, that this doesn't end up like another underwhelming sales performer like the RL.
I guess only time will tell.
