This is road presence (not even AMG version):

You have to thank mr SSFTSX for bringing the comedy into this otherwise sad thread.

Sure bro.
When you see the S in your rearview mirror, it means "get out of the way peasant". When you see the RLX it means, "lol that guy couldn't even afford the Lexus".

IMO, a car with strong road presence should be a head turner. It should make you stop and stare at it. It should make you think "Damn, that's a nice looking car." This in turn should elicit a desire to want that car. That desirability should translate into sales. That is the ultimate goal, right? Otherwise, what's the point?
This brings us to RLX sales. Pathetic. Now look at S class sales. They're more than 10x RLX sales. E class sales? 40x greater.
Does this MMC RLX have road presence? Yes, when compared to the current RLX. But will it make me stop and stare at it? I doubt it. Will it make me think "Damn, that's a nice looking car."? I doubt it. Will it elicit a desire in me to want to buy it? I doubt it.
But if you like it, that's cool. We all have different tastes and opinions.

The RLX is supposed to compete with the LS though and with that competition (even with the GS for that matter), the RLX is a steaming pile of dog shit.

That is because strong road presence do not sell cars... since RLX got the strongest presence, that is why it is not selling.

Acura. What a horrid looking vehicle.

There are things about it I really like, but it seems to be a lot more jagged looking in the headlights than the TLX, which i think looks a lot better. Everything about the car also just looks kind of big. Big car, big smile, comically big logo.

I feel the need...
What bothers me is all the extra superfluous chrome bits and lack of adaptive dampers. Oh, and its almost 2018, so there is literally no excuse not to have CarPlay/AA.

^ the thing is.. like you said it is Acura's flagship... while Civic has better tech in some areas than this "flag ship". - digital gauge. Carplay/AA. probably others.

Well it is Acura's flagship, their largest sedan and to my eyes looks marginally better. Bypassing the crappy ZF 9AT is nothing but win. The dinner plate logo doesn't bother me, Benz does the same thing.

I like it way more than the original RLX.

It does not matter if we like it or not. Can this translate to sales #... that is all it matters.
I might be wrong, but i will say.. NO!

No, of course not. If you're not buying an SH, why would you even consider the RLX, amongst the plethora of other cars in the same category? And seeing as they can't produce the SH vehicles fast enough, you bet sales will stay stagnant.

Why is there even a FWD RLX in the first place?

Because Acura, because Audi and because it is cheaper and Because MPG... but no one mentioned because Acura is not Audi.

But ignoring all of that, perhaps what sucks the most is that they really didn't do anything at all. Different seats, new paint colors, and mildly updated front and rear facias. Now under normal circumstances this is what a mid cycle refresh is all about, but the pre-lift RLX was just so behind in so many ways that this really was a pointless effort. I am excited to see it in person though because I actually do think it looks WAAAAY better than the last model even with those chrome bits.

Yeah, an LS is equivalent to the S class or 7 series. The RLX is more on par with the E class and 5 series and GS.

Sorry, Id still take the Genesis over this ANYDAY!. The Genesis looks better, has more interior room, is the proper drive and undoubtedly be in the shop less. The Genesis has road presence, the RLX not so much. It will still be a bland no one will notice vehicle driving down the road lucky to sell 350-400 units a year vehicle. Now go back to drinking your koolaid in fantasy land with the rest of the fanboys.

that's not even the biggest problem. The transmission gearing simply would not allow the car to go that fast. I'm sure it can't go over 160mph. Maybe a bit higher, but I doubt it.
