Hey, why not a HT convertable roadster like the SLK? That way we can have both...just a though.

Why not? because the coupe and roadster will be totally different cars...unlike the 350Z/G35 where it uses the same platform. The coupe will be based off the TL platform the roadster will not. Cost of production will be a deciding factor.
#242
Cost of production...my guess is we'll see a CL before the roadster. Am I correct in assuming that since it's based off the TL and not the NSX platform it'll be the cheaper one to produce?

You are correct. The coupe will be priced in the 32-34K bracket and/if the roadster will be in the 45K range.
#246
And please let the CL be a bit more inspiring in the looks dept. I'm really hoping it's not going to look like a 2-door TL.

Its dated with the exterior styling when you look at other cars in its price range or below. Take the Nissan 350Z look at how the Z car came out of retirement and look at the success its had. I think yes it is a bold move for Honda but a good one. The NSX is 90k and with that in mind lets just look at the style that it lacks for 90k. A 350Z nearly makes but a little less hp and more trq and granted may not handle as good or have the same suspension rating but the car can still hold its on against the NSX and for 40k less its a steal. I would like to think that upgrades in style, comfort, over all value would be looked at. Lets face it for 90k you could get a 500hp Ferrari. This is My Point

2. Where can you find a new Ferrari for $90K???? ...especially a 500hp one???
3. I think the NSX is worth the $90K...and a new NSX will be worth even more. IMHO

I don't think its dated looking, but it follows Hondas nice, but conservative mold. Its not all that exciting to look at on the road imo, the thing I mainly notice is its a tiny car. I wouldn't be surprised if the average car buyer didn't realize it was some 90k supercar. As far as being worth 90k, I guess thats up to the buyer, but I think Honda could build a more exciting car for less cash.

here is the latest........
here is the latest........
We asked some of our contacts at Acura PR about the significance of the Automobile magazine news item and they responded with the following comments:
"While it is still too early to provide details on the next NSX, we can say that we are committed to the model and will ultimately offer a replacement. The HSC shown in Detroit and Tokyo was a concept of the direction the next NSX could take."

The latest you can find on A-TSX.
justinjsw who works for acura and who has never been wrong with his news... claims this is just nonsense.
he also claims we will see a AWD 2-dr Acura Coupe for 2006 based on the TL platform

Still too early? They waiting for Acura's 20th anniversary (2006, in case anyone's keeping track) or something?!

I'd personnally like to see a coupe before a roadster. A coupe w/ a folding hardtop would be a great day however I won't hold my breath.
The last CL was fine for the first year or so it was out but besides being too heavy it was bland. But all Acuras were bland but we can all see that Acura has seen somewhat of the light.
Get the design right and don't expect to see in hugh numbers is what Honda should focuss on for the next CL

I'll miss the NSX, but have you ever seen the reviews on msn.com or on edmunds? idiot reviewers keep bashing on how they would never pay $89K for a overpriced Honda and saying that the Corvette Z06 is about $30-35K cheaper and would smoke the NSX, yada yada yada.
If you ask me, the NSX is the only Japanese Exotic sports car something that Nissan and Toyota don't have. Well, maybe the Nissan GT-R coming out and the new Supra, but those are still in prototype form. I'll miss you NSX.

justin DID say that the NSX was not going to leave. No reason to miss the NSX. One thing I will miss is that gorgeous front end . But the new one may have an even better one. Can't wait for either of these cars to come out. Great job Acura...
TSX, TL, RL
(CL), NSX, Revamped Integra (RSX)
MDX, (RDX)
I'm liking the approach.

Burn some dust here
I have a lot of beef with the NSX but that would be stupid of Honda to get rid of it. Its a great car and it sits well within the lineup. It just needs a freshening up. Dont get rid of it though.

Damn that is pretty soon, in 6 months it will be 2005 and we will probably see it at the January Autoshows in Detriot and LA.
I think I could still hold out for another 2.5-3.5 years though. :o

Next Honda NSX stalls - - Source: Autocar Magazine
Honda may be reconsidering its plans for replacing the NSX supercar. Though it previously appeared committed to launching a production version of the HSC concept car, inviting Birmingham show-goers to approve it production, insiders have suggested that the NSX may not be replaced at all.
The HSC was the star of Hondas UK motor show stand (right), where it was exhibited with an electronic ballot where visitors could vote either for production of the car, or for it to be 're-thought', via the touch of a button.
It would appear that the results may have been less encouraging than expected because now Honda says that another project, maybe producing a Porsche Boxster rival, could be more worthy of its investment. The company has issued a denial, saying that it will ultimately offer an NSX replacement, but appears to have cooled a little on the HSC itself, whose styling has not received universal acclaim.

Now, what I am not sure of, is what did the market really say to Honda about the HSC? I just can't see the majority not liking the exterior styling. That thing looked great. I am suspecting they were cooled by the specs, especially the ones associated with the engine.
Honda just does not have the resources to make a V8 engine which will be losing SOME money. It will be a financial disaster for them if they made a V8 only for the NSX. So if the 350HP V6 spec was enough to turn off the market, then, Honda is thinking, "scrap it!". They prefer to NOT have a flagship exotic, rather than have one and bleed cash all day long. The right decision.

See, what most people here are missing is the financial impact of their suggestions.
"Make a V8", "Make an exotic", "Put a V6 in the S2000", etc., etc.
Sure. Honda execs also know what the market would like. The trick is, how much of that can you do while being a public company and the be facing the dynamics associated with that label every minute of the day.
It's way more complicated than most car enthusiasts think it is. These companies are out there to make money and making money is not always about offering the best product in the category. It's mostly about "revenue - expenses = net income" and the associated numbers.

But then emissions come into play and Honda would never put itself in that situation...they're too conservative and try not to stray from the image even with their top of the line models. :ghey:
