Im shocked its not in the RL first...
Maybe it doesnt fit?
Either way i think this MDX looks hot inside and out.
It is mated to a 5-speed sequential gearbox.

For the lazy
Tired of crossovers?
Well, here's another one
AutoWeek | Published 08/25/06, 11:53 am et
Even as gas prices rise and truck and SUV sales shrink, Acura is going against conventional wisdom and launching an all-new version of its MDX. Acura figures the luxury midsize SUV category will grow 26 percent in the next five years and aims to be ready with its new truck.
The new MDX has crisper sheetmetal and a more driver-oriented interior. Acura officials said they were going for a sportier looking-and driving-MDX.
That starts with the new 3.7-liter V6 powering the new MDX. Horsepower is up 40 to 300 and the engine produces 275 lb ft of torque, up 25 lb ft. It is mated to a 5-speed sequential gearbox.
Three option packages will be available when the car is on sale in a month or so and can be mixed and matched. The Sport package has active dampers, high-zoot leather and alloy wheels. The Technology package includes DVD Nav system with real-time traffic updates, rearview camera, and automatic climate control. The Entertainment package has a rear-entertainment system, power tailgate and heated second row seats.
Prices aren't set in stone yet, but Acura is figuring on $41,000-$48,000.

I don't know about integras, but is this going to be the first Acura to have auto climate control as an OPTION?
I love the "tired of crossovers" title, too.

Wow 41K base...it's creeping up there in price. I remember when the MDX was name it was 35K. I was expecting price to go up, but didn't expect it to actually cross the 40K mark.
Interior looks good too.

i like the interior for the most part, although that sterring wheel should get the axe IMO...the exterior is still pretty but so is my 04 so i can't really complain there...over all, i like it....we may have to roll over to the ac dealer and take a peek at it. if nothing else 300hp sounds good

With a certain increase in weight, (4200-4400lbs?) I wouldn't expect much more in the acceleration dept.

what's with honda/acura with the chevron-looking steering wheels lately? Not bad, but strange from the usual "conservative" 4-point steering wheels from the late 90's/early 00's.
wheels look like 4runner rims. Hopefully offers HID headlights this time.
if i was in the market for an SUV (and may be in a couple years), this MDX would be on my short list for sure.

The sizzle in the Steak
Exterior is still horrible. Interior is excellent...although the nav screen does not look well integrated into such a slick interior design.
....and a 5 speed????? Why no six speed?

I dont think the "5-speed sequential gearbox" is an SMG or DSG. It's just like every other Acura 5AT with the manual shifting option (sportshift).
6 speed AT would be nice. 6 speed DSG would be even nicer.

MDX does indeed look true to the concept. Can't wait to see one in person.
Anyone know if the black wood trim is real or fake?

There is a sharp, SHARP difference between being "aggressive" and being just plain stupid. WTF we're they thinking with the exterior?? The RDX and MDX both look ugly as hell, although the interiors are cutting-edge IMO.

Honda/Acura exterior designs need to stand out more from the car crowd. I guess they excel at the inner (interior) beauty instead. For them it really is the car's inside is what counts.

I wonder if they'll offer VCM? Anyway, I like the exterior a lot..I can't wait for more details. And on the auto climate control thing, I think it must be similar to the auto climate control on the RDX tech package, which appears to be a new name for the GPS linked climate control.

Acura is moving on up and I am very glad that they are making this move. They are finally starting to build vehicles to their full potential. Further, they are distancing themselves from the Honda brand which everyone has been pushing for in the last few years. A price change is definitely required for this distancing, which cuts down on cross-shopping with Honda (or non luxury vehicles).
I think the pricing is also a great move for Acura because the MDX is one of Acura's bread-and-butter vehicles (with the TL). The move upward will bring more premium customers to the Acura brand and will further the possiblity of seeing some more high-end products (and maybe increase sales of the RL). Not only do we get a better MDX, we can see an increase in overall sales by means of more affluent buyers (people who have never entered an Acura dealership before discovering various Acura vehicles...RL, TL, RDX, etc...).
