I can't prefer the current MDX grille over the Power Plenum shield? And what does the new RL have to with this?

Oh maybe I read your post wrong, but your post seems to indicate that the power plenum is better than the current MDX grille. The refreshed RL is the first to have the new grille.

Too bad Acura doesn't listen to the consumers. Some journalists didn't seem to like the current MDX grille, but from what read of the forums most people like it, including yours truly.

Come to think of it, BMW received strong opposition to the design styles when the Z4 and 2002 7 series come out. Afterwards the 7 series got a change to the butt, but the sales never got strong. In the meantime, the 2004 5 series got a more conservative look - it still received some criticism (partly related to iDrive and active steering), but it has been much better received and remains the benchmark for the midsize sports luxury sedan. The release of the new 7 series shows a more conservative look, and tells you that BMW listens to its customers.

I wonder what Acura is thinking. Too many eggs in the same ugly grille basket.

Shoulda left it the way it was, with the better looking shield grille.

Hopefully next year they will realize they made a big mistake with this grille and change it to something better looking.

what is up with Acura and saturn like grilles on all newer models?
Acura can't run with the big boys(Benz,BMW,Caddy, Audi, etc) with these designs.

New Spy Pics.....

If you loved the current MDX grille....sorry......the beak is taking over the MDX too.

spypic

chopped for clarity (final beak will have criss-cross mesh in lieu of egg-crate)

I agree that these grille designs don't look good, but at least Acura has finally nailed down on a SINGLE signature grille design to be used explicitly by all Acura lines, rather than each Acura line having a different grille design of it's own.

This is a big step forward to the united Acura brand identity.

i agree that having a signature grille is a step forward, but the implementation is off. at least they're trying.

too bad they didn't decide to use the MDX's grille across the lineup instead of the power plenum

Oh well, a few weeks back I was at the Cerritos Acura dealership and the service advisor was telling me that they've had people complain about it so much that they started offering to paint the factory grille color matched to the car when people buy the car.

Yep, when I passed by that dealership, I saw dozens of TL with the factory grille color matched to the car. Why can't they do it when they build the car in the first place???????? so dumb.

^^^Dealers are on the front lines dealing with people who understandably don't want to spend $40k+ on a car that is pig ugly.

i'm done with Acura. the only Acura vehicles that look decent with the beak grille are the TSX and the upcoming ZDX. it looks ugly on the TL, RL, and now the MDX and probably the RDX.

i saw a black TL recently with the grille painetd to match the body. it did make the car look better especially since it was the sh-awd with the upgrade wheels. but then i saw the back.

The designers and upper design management ALL need to be fired. What the hell are they thinking. When they step back and look at these designs do they honestly say Hey that looks really good?

In addition to the CMBS/ACC, looks like the 18" rims from the new RL as well.

Acura management : What could we do to kill Acura's sale figure.

Acura designers : Here's use this new shield design. Problem solved.

The one on the MDX looks really wide. Wider than the RL version. Looks really good, more aggressive than their normal offerings.

good lord not again. There is a reason why I don't see many new TL's on the road. I had some people compliment my 99TL. I wonder why?

Just recieved a memo today, detailing basically that the production of the 2010 MDX is being pushed forward. Our month of release was supposed to be September, but now they're saying October/November.

With that, the memo also stated that the ZDX release will follow one month after the MDX release...so looking at December for ZDX release.

My thoughts as to why the MDX won't come out in September? I'm thinking they don't want to release it up here in Canada cuz the US is still filled with 09 MDX's and dealers don't want the 2010's until their inventories are better. I'm just assuming you guys have shitloads still to sell where-as we've been selling MDX incoming stock for the last 4 months.

If the face-lifted 2010 MDX's are coming this fall, the 2009 MDX's will move even slower or even stop moving. A 2-month delay is hardly enough, Acura need at least another half a year to clear out all the '09 inventories if the economy is still as bad.

It's been over a year now and people are STILL bringing up the power plenum...seriously, it's now REALLY getting old. It's subjective - not factual!

Here's what I've found: the car buffs or "enthusiasts" seem to come into the showroom just to stare and comment and MAYBE if they like everything else about the vehicle, they'll dig a little deeper.
The everyday Joe? Fuckin' LOVE the new TL and TSX. My buddies that don't know shit about the car? All compliments! It's a look that will age well folks. The MDX and RDX with the plenum will not dissappoint!

My dealer has had less than 10 MDXs consistently on the lot for months now. At one point a few weeks ago, they only had 2. Same for the RDX. Inventory seems to be dwindling around here.
