2) we can't see any exhaust/or tips in the rear shots due to the masking in the rear. From the spy shot you can barely see a dark outline of the integrated exhaust in the rear bumper(a la Civic Type R in UK), and the shadow looks triangular like the Sport4 Concept.
3) side sheet metal crease seems to mimic that of the sport4 concept, right under the window sill line.
4) like someone mentioned earlier, the taillight lookd close to the Sport4 concept

I agree. My guess is the TSX since we have the Sports4 concept photos to compare with.

I still haven't seen any next-gen TL photos or concepts around.

wouldn't it be ironic if that ends up being an RL refresh? :ugh:

The last thing the RL needs is a refresh!
They need to scrap it 100% and start over.
Honda needs to raise the standard of their flagship car.

Start with the drivetrain. :2cents:

:agree:

and the problem with acura's "flagship" is that it's not really a flagship as the RL is the equivalent to Lexus' GS and Infiniti's M.

Problem is doing that on a FWD means the motor has to go with it(meaning they have to push the motor forward with it) due to trans design. Trans output has to come out on the back side of the motor. Especially with awd setup :2cents:

Is it only me that sees this - that's a RHD car on the wrong side of the road - I assume this means testing in Japan. That means it's probably a TSX (or an RL) - why would they test a TL in Japan? Or did I miss something?

Huh?? They're testing in Nevada.

The technical term is long "front overhang". :)

As in, the opposite of what you want for a sexy look.

By the way, I think it's the TSX since it's supposed to be a year ahead of the TL.

Mokos23 08-02-2007 09:38 AM

So, if it is indeed the next gen TSX, i assume that the 2nd gen TSX will be also manufactured in the USA now and no longer in Japan.

I agree, and thats what I was thinking as well. Moving the front axle 2-3 inches forward wouldn't create enough space to mount the engine behind the axle; thus we can safely assume it's not RWD bias.

But what I was implying was more that they might've moved the axle 2-3 inches forward to offset the added weight of the new drive train - if indeed there is SH-AWD on that test mule, the mid to rear section of the new Acura Sedan should be much heavier. In which case, a way to keep the same handling characteristics of a FWD would be to mount the engine further forward.

So really, I was just kinda saying that the pictures seem to indicate the front axle was moved forward, meaning the engine was moved forward to offset added weight to the mid/rear section of the car. But then again... when I keep staring at the pics, it seems like it may just be an optical illusion created by the camo gear.

Im going to say TL since the third brake light is at the top of the rear window like the current TL and the exhaust tips look similar to the current TL. :2cents:

I guess I did miss something - some of the other pics makes it more obvious. Then it's more likely it's the TL - Honda would probably test the TSX in Europe or Japan. Like the last time the TSX is bound to debut in Japan first - Tokyo auto show next month? 09 TL debut in Detroit in Jan?

S14 n Tsx 08-06-2007 12:27 AM

:ugh: You can already make out the ugly MDX style grille. :ugh:

LuvMyTSX 08-22-2007 01:14 PM

It looks to have the chrome trim around the windows like the current TSX does. That's about the only thing I can tell at the moment.

Anyway to tell if it's using SH-AWD :bitelip:

As my AV6 can cover that with little fanfare (thank you NJ Turnpike on/off ramps), I would hope a 4G TL could.
