Wish there was a 2.0 civic with 155hp.

From Club EL:

Touring $25,350 MSRP
Civic based body
2.0 IVTEC DOHC
155HP @6000rpm
139lbs/ft @4500rpm
9.3L/100km
5 nut - 16" split 5 spoke rims
205/55/16 tires - sorry forgot the brand
MP3 6speaker 160 watt stereo
silver handles
cloth interior
sunroof - 1 touch open
turn signals in mirrors
power everything
same steering 3 spoke wheel from the 06 Honda Civic Coupe w/ audio controls
Front and side Airbag
EBS
5Sp manual/auto
Twin chrome tipped exhaust
+ all the fixings you would find in an 06 Civic Sedan ie, dash, gauges, door panels etc
Front end looks "TSXish"

Premium MSRP $33,050
for close to a whopping 8K you get added:\
Heat front seats
Leather
Navigation system (that talks to you!) - go to Honda USA to see what it looks like
CD Changer
Shift Paddles behind the steering wheel (the car was an auto)
HID lights
Base TSX costs only $34,900 here. I know I'm not going to pay $33k for a 155hp navi Civic with shift paddles.

$33,050

Then again considering at AT TSX with nav is $40K is not that much of a strecth. But I'm guessing thet won't sell many at that price.

The Touring is almost exactly the same price as 2005. The premium went up like 4k though. $33,050 is for the one with nav. If you don't get nav, it's $30k. That really isn't that bad. It's like choosing that, or a nearly equally equipped Accord EX-L (with a few less features, and uses more gas, but its a bigger car...depends what you want).

Also, note that they say "the car was an auto". That means that you can subtract another $1k for the automatic transmission/shift paddles if you so desire. $29k, sounds good to me.

You're right though, they won't sell very many with Nav. Well maybe they might? I can't think of another car in that price range where Nav is available, since it's not on the Accord or Civic in Canada.

Over 200,000 km, a CSX might use something like $4,000 less fuel than a TSX. I haven't gone back to get all the stats, but I've just started thinking about a CSX as an alternative to a planned TSX purchase, and have been looking at RSX data as an indication of CSX performance. The RSX engine can use regular fuel - that's $.10/L less than premium, and it uses, let's say, 10% less fuel than a TSX. I can't wait a couple of years for the 6-spd version, which I'm guessing will come, but I can understand why the 06 won't have it.

A REAL picture of the preproduction CSX, taken by someone at a dealer event or something. Mods please add the fact there's a photo to the title.

I assume the CSX will be built in Alliston, ON -- along side the Civic? Or will it be imported from Japan? I think the former is true (sorry, I didn't read every post in this thread).

I was looking at the CSX for the GF next yr when she needs a car. Maybe a TSX, Accord, or base IS250. Interesting ...

Front looks good, but I'm worried about the back. The JDM Civic tail lights were kind of ugly compared to the US Civic tail lights.

Certainly not a bad looking little car. The taillamps really reminds me of the last gen's Accord, but done very nicely here.

The wide grille opening in the Civic just doesn't go well with the Acura look. I think the taillights are awful.

its ironic that the new Civic's headlights more closely resemble those of the TSX, than do the CSX.

The tail lights look terrible, like the last-gen EL. I think the only thing that looks nicer on this car than the Civic is the wheels.

If you register you can see more pics. Interior is pretty much the same except for the Acura badge on the streering wheel, auto climate under the nav screen-basically the civic hybird interior and jdm civic exterior...

Yea I'm sure it will sell, whenever I'm in CA I see tons of ELs, but it just seems like a step backward if Acura wants to play with the big boys. If they don't, then the entire Acura establishment seems superfluous to begin with.

Not true at all, look at MB B200 and Audi A3 now. The market for these compact near-luxury cars is growing fast.

My dad loves his Civic and thinks it's a great car for him, but he really wants leather and HID lights. So this car is perfect for him. I'm sure there are many more people like him.

Honestly, this car is not about Acura's image, it's about giving a high-volume vehicle for Acura dealerships. Imagine if they suddently cut out one of their highest-selling models, I'm sure dealers would be majorly p1ssed.

In Canada it's not just one of their highest selling models, it is THE highest selling model!

ya, I'm starting to change my mind about the whole EL/CSX thing. I think this car works in the Canadian market - especially now since they've upped the hp to 160ish and included xenons and the navi option.
I could definitely see myself in one of these. It's certainly not as sporty as a TSX, but as a daily driver, it has many of the creature comforts and is economical in terms of mpg.

Pricing Info

Touring - $25,800
Premium - $28,100
Premium NAVI - $30,800

I'm positive on the Touring and Premium NAVI prices, the Premium one might be off a little bit (quick conversation rather than mis-information.)

Seems pretty good, and right where I thought it would be.

Not a bad little car. I wouldn't want/drive one but I agree with the others that this is a good move for Acura.
