But anyway, those are GREAT prices! Lower than I expected, honestly. This thing will stay competitive.

It's not just a rebadged Civic, though. It's a legally modded, sub-8 second hotrod, with the same peak torque:weight ratio as the TSX, although it only has a 5sp, and considerably narrower rev range. It has the torque to accelerate the car and 3 or 4 people, whereas the Civic can't [with any authority]. The police and insurance companies here are after "modified" cars, and this one should be fun, safe, and immune, and long-term cheap to operate.
One of these would save me an estimated $15,000 over 7-8 years, compared to a TSX, in lower initial cost, fuel saving, insurance saving, and financing savings. Plus, I'd feel better about the kids driving a CSX than a TSX.

newsflash, it has like 140lb/ft of torque.. 3-4 people? accelerate with authority? compared to a powerwheel maybe. a corolla XRS or matrix XRS will easily outaccelerate the CSX by a wide margin.

This is Canada, not LA; 80% of the traffic is either minivans, SUV's, Civics or Corollas, and most everyhing else has an automatic. It's all relative, but sub-8.0 seconds around here means it's quick in traffic, and the CSX's small size and better driver visibility only make it more so. And with the price of fuel still higher around here, all those civillians accelerate slowly, and run as many stop signs as they can; you can afford to drive a CSX quickly, everywhere.
Next, how hard is it to add an intake, exhaust, and light wheels? What else are people doing to RSXs? The 91 Si I had can't have had more than 115, maybe 120hp, with mods, and while you can't expect every M3 driver to have no idea what they're doing - because that Civic shouldn't have been able to catch them under braking at the end of a quarter-mile straight - I lapped lots of 325s at Shannonville, too. [My Civic's top speed was an indicated 130mph, but my top track speed was limited to bouncing off the rev-limiter in 4th, at something like 112mph. I "retired" this car a couple of years ago, with 300,000km, for something "safer" that the kids could drive.]
You got any track time? Carry a higher speed through a corner, and come out of it with your foot floored, and the drivers of those old 290hp Canadian M3's were wondering what I had under the hood.

Yes actually.
Hotrod may have been a strech but his post made alot sense otherwise.

Gibo considering its content vs a loaded Civic it well worth it. Unless of course you consider a Civic overpriced as well. In which case you probly think all compacts are overpriced, because the Civic is certainly not.
And I seriously doubt they'll be moving many with Navi which means the 25k, 26K versions will be the norm.

I'm not insinuating that the CSX is a hot rod of any kind, but it's far from slow and gutless. Maybe if you load 4 heavy people into it, but otherwise it's fine.
Additionally, there is no other car in Canada in this price range where Navi is available! Canadians like small cars, simply put. The Civic is one of the top selling cars in Canada, and when I was at the dealer looking at one, his associates sold 3 Civics in the time I was there. They told me they were selling at about 7/day.

Civic has been the #1 selling car in Canada 5 years running. This new car will only widen the gap IMO.
And don't try and convince Gilbo of anything youngTL. Anything that doesn't have a T, L or B M W on the hood isn't really a car to begin with anyway.

I had to floor it just to make it up a hill. And V6 SUV's are ridiculously slow (especially the larger ones). I test drove the new Civic with the R18 and manual transmission, and it has more guts than most people think. The revs climb very quickly. Also, remember that the K20A that's in the CSX is coming from the base RSX, which isn't exactly a slouch on acceleration, and the cars are similar weight.

But I can see where there'd be a market for this type of vehicle in Canada. But as heyitsme posted, I couldnt picture Toyota and Nissan tampering with their upscale image by "upscaling" a Corolla and Versa (respectively) into their upscale marques. Looks like Honda will continue to compete head-to-head with Ford and Chevy in this segment.

....I guess what I'm trying to convey is that upscale automakers like Lexus and Infiniti aim a little higher with their marque than Acura. (This also explains why neither carry a TSX or RSX type vehicle.)

In reality, it likely is especially with their new A3 engine available in december - 250hp v6.

I think that's the main reason why Lexus/Infiniti have such an 'aura' here in Canada ... they're not commonly seen on the road. Even in Toronto, it's all about BMW 3-series for lux. Acura is for the 'value conscious' consumer who want a prestige brand. (Thus, the CSX is a Canada-only model)
BTW, did anyone in Toronto get an invite for the Nov 22nd Woodbine Acura 'showing' of the CX? I got one in the mail ... tossed it since it's in the middle of the week and I'm not going to drive 3.5hrs to see a car (unless they gave it to me for free...)

With 3-4 people it may not accelerate with authority, but it'll sure show its taillights to any Toyota carrying passengers with the notoriously gutless 2ZZ-GE engine (unless your passengers like listening to 6500+ rpm constantly, in which case you might have a chance.)
