Abt Sportsline: AS6 (based on Audi A6) news **R Version Revealed (page 1)**
At the same time when the new Audi A6 will have its debut at the dealers the tuner ABT presents its newest sporty Sedan: the ABT AS6.
With a big optic-packet should the A6 directly go to the fast lane. The most eye-catching thing is the back of the car: the wide track of the wheels and a grilled back-bumper with four chromed exhausters. For more downforce there is a little spoilerlip at the boot panel.
With a little frontspoilerlip the design also goes on at the front of the Audi. The silhouette is empowered by new sillboards. New wheels in five-star-design and 17, 18 or 19" are available. The tires are available in 245/45-17, 245/40-18 or 235/35-19, prices for the wheel-sets are between 2.088 and 4.640 Euro. A new 20"-wheel-set with tires in 255/30 is in preparation.
Under the body is a new infinitely variable winding sport-chassis (right translation for "Gewinde Sport-Fahrwerk"??) for a better roadability.
A new motormanagement which gives the 3-litre more power is in preparation.
Both, the optic-packet and the power-packet, will be available at the beginning of August.

Already after the first photos, test drives and impressions, one thing became clear: With the new A6 Audi has launched a big hit. Concurrently to the presentation, Abt Sportsline shows its ideas for the new figurehead in the luxury class: More agile, more dynamic and even more pleasure to drive. Following the advertising slogan for the new A6 "Imaginative and engaging" – the imagination of the most successful tuner for vehicles of the Audi and VW brand, even goes a step further and gives the newcomer his very own face.
The aim of the A6 is clearly defined: Being closely connected to its role model, the successful Audi A8 and likewise establishing itself as most sportive vehicle in its class. Equipped with the extensive optical package of Abt Sportsline, the AS6 already drives on the passing lane. „I am sure that the AS6 will quickly make its way into the customer’s hearts“, says managing director Hans-Jürgen Abt. "For our engineers and designers the car with its sportive line is a first class model and a real eye catcher with just a few little conversions. "
The characteristically wide track with the perfectly suiting design of the SP rims, as well as the Abt rear skirt inset, emphasize most noticeably the rear design of the Abt AS6. Four chromed Abt mufflers set a clear signal for the power capacity of this extraordinary vehicle. The Abt rear spoiler on the boot provides a more sportive look and especially an increased down-force which results in improved driving characteristics. Just like all body add-on parts by Abt Sportsline it is manufactured in top quality and is seamlessly integrated in the contours of the standard vehicle.
Though being discreet, the focus set on the front spoiler lip is quite individual. This style continues on the side of the body: Beside side skirts which underline the dynamical design from the front to the rear, Abt Sportsline also equips the AS6 with Abt sport wheels SP1, dimension 8,5x19 or the models A25/A26 size 8,5 x 18, each with the classical five-spoke-design. Complete wheel-sets with the brand partners Continental and Dunlop are directly available at the local supplier.
Abt Sportsline also achieves more dynamics and power underneath the bonnet of the AS6: with a sport suspension kit continuously variable in height or a first power upgrade for the three litre-Diesel engine with six cylinders for example.
With the Abt AS6, Abt Sportsline once again has managed to present its own ideas simultaneously to the official presentation of the standard vehicle. Being one of the first tuners to present the car, undoubtedly is a result of the close cooperation between Ingolstadt and Kempten which exists for decades. The great confidence has also been transferred to motor sport throughout the years: With the comeback of Audi into the DTM, Abt Sportsline, as official works team, enters with four Audi A4 DTM and are the first to lead the four rings to the podium.

Light metal construction was used consistently for the new Audi A6 Avant – this saves fuel and makes the estate car even more sportive. Therefore the vehicle is the ideal tuning basis, as Hans-Jürgen Abt CEO of the long established Bavarian company stressed: "The car is characteristically versatile, stylish and dynamic – and we have tied performance packages which are perfectly suitable to it." The manager of ABT Sportsline mentions the long tradition in tuning the A6 estate cars quite casually: “The history began with the introduction of the Audi 100 C2, which hit the market in 1977 as Avant. With the new AS6 Avant we look back on 35 successful years in the segment of the noble lifestyle-transporter."
At the moment ABT has two power levels in its program for the new AS6 Avant - and both ensure that the all-round premium-automobile performs powerfully and superior in every situation. Thanks to ABT POWER the 3.0 TFSI offers a proud 420 HP or 309 kW (production version: 300 HP/221 kW) and a maximum torque of 540 Nm (standard: 440 Nm). 120 additional horsepower (88 kW) results in 40 percent additional power and – if it should go even faster – has the driving properties of an extreme sports car. Frequent drivers are quite economically on the way with the new 3-liter bi-turbo diesel engine: A maximum power of 360 HP or 265 kW (production version: 313 HP/230 kW) and a maximum torque of 700 Nm (standard: 650 Nm) is provided in the AS6 Avant. Thanks to the ABT lowering springs or the electronic lowering of the vehicle's barycentre with the help of the ABT Level Control the noble estate car brings the plus in performance at all times on the road.
One should also see what is contained in a "real ABT" in the new AS6 Avant. Therefore the designers took care of the elongated body and purposefully provided for a still more self-confident appearance: Side skirts, a front spoiler as well as a rear spoiler and a new rear skirt set with two powerful double end pipes clearly show for more presence and extreme dynamic optics. The sportive impression is strengthened with the ABT sports rims. ABT recommends the CR and DR model which harmonises particularly well with the silhouette of the Avant. For Hans-Jürgen Abt, this is an ideal combination that covers all life situations. “This car provides both the space and the power to get anything from A to B. And why not via the Nürburgring’s famous ‘Nordschleife’?” says the CEO of the globally largest tuner of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group. You only have to look at the figures: the very potent estate’s serial power is 420 hp (309 kW), here increased to no less than 600 hp (441 kW). The impressive extra power of almost 43 % is made possible by the innovative ABT POWER S technology. The optimised engine control unit aside, the ABT Turbo Chargers render the ABT AS6-R a really roadworthy dependable and superior racing car. With a torque of 750 Nm (serial version: 550 Nm), the eight-cylinder engine will show its power especially when the car has to carry something. The acceleration makes sport drivers hearts’ beat faster: the lifestyle estate reaches 100 kph in no more than 3.9 sec, 200 kph in 12.9 sec, and its top speed is an electronically controlled 310 kph.
