Who says the Swedes always play it safe? This extreme version of Volvo's hot S60R proves otherwise. On display on the Swedish manufacturer's stand at the SEMA show in Las Vegas last week, the aggressive-looking machine was built in partnership with US-based performance expert Evolve.

Under the bonnet there's an upgraded turbocharger and intercooler which help raise power to an incredible 500bhp - 200bhp more than the standard car. That enables the S60R Evolve to sprint from 0-60mph in a Ferrari-beating 4.2 seconds. Thankfully, the car's brakes have been up-graded, too, with larger discs and an extra caliper on both front wheels.

Volvo has improved the suspension by fitting adjustable springs, which let the driver alter the ride height from the cabin, and a stiffer front strut brace. Deeper bumpers, larger side skirts and 19-inch alloys give an aggressive look. Inside, two-tone leather trim and thicker carpet, plus aluminium pedals and gearshift, create a sportier feel. But these enhancements come at a price - the S60R Evolve costs a massive £13,000 more than the standard car!

 

I love Volvos...always wanted to see one done up like that. How much is £13,000?

hot damn that's a fine lookin automobile. I really love where volvo's designers have gone in recent years. they're miles away from my 1990 240DL wagon (breadbox on wheels)
