How can Car & Driver put the Focus on this list??? The Focus has had too many recalls to even be considered....what a crock!

So you're gonna blame a car for something that happened three years ago?

The Focus' reliability is much better now. Say what you want about Consumer's Reports but they aren't going to recommend a POS and the Focus made their recommended list for the first time in 2004.

I dont think C&D even takes into consideration how many recalls a car had to rate cars for the 10 Best list.

True. The FOcus is not deemed unreliable because of the number of recalls.

A lot of the problems are still there. "Better" might be the word to describe it but in my personal opinion, its not up there with the rest of the competitors.

Handling pretty good but the rest of the car needs some work.

Its nice to see 3 Hondas in the top 10.

I'm puzzled why they group all 3 series BMW together. There is a big difference between 318 and 330, choices of 2 or 4 wheel drive... The handling has to be better on the 330 as oppose to 318 or 320.

Glad to see the TSX get the nod. No TL or G35 is surprising.

Three out of Ten aint too bad for Acura/Honda. Wonder why the 04 TL didn't make the list?

How does it compare to the sub-2004 models. I've heard differing opinions as to how different it really feels and drives. In the summertime, I drive a friend's '01 S2000 once a week or so. I assume that you have driven both cars more than a couple times in order to make that distinction between them?

THere has been 3 Honda/Acura cars total on the Top 10 for a many years now. Which makes it even more of an achievement. The Accord has been in the Top 10 for what...like 20 years in a row?

About the 3 Series. I agree. You should have seen the video. They were talking about the 3 series cars, but they were showing the M3 all along. C&D's prejudiced love for the 3 series cant be hidden.

If you ask C&D, they'll tell you "cos it aint RWD"

I am only half kidding with the above.

C&D said that the S2000 gets back in the top 10 after being absent from the list last year. It did not make it last year because it was "too pure of a sports car". This year it's a little smoother around the edges and hence the win.

Notice that the Z was dropped this year. For the same reason as why the S2000 did not make it last year, they pretty much elluded to. They said that the G35 is more comfortable, offers about the same performance and overall a better choice to represent that chasis/brand.

For all those of you who clown the focus, hey!?..its got more torque and a roomier interior than a civic.

I recently read an article in AutoWeek (March 29 issue) about the Evo, and they felt that as much fun as the car was to drive fast, it was too crude for everyday driving. Stiff suspension, noise... As much as you may want to drive a race car on the street, it is just too much of a compromise for most people.

Yes and it likes to spend more time at the dealership then with its owner.

Where did u get the stats for Focus being roomier? Why don't you visit Ford's site and see their comparison, in both Head and leg room Civic comes out on top. Unless you don't trust ford...

Ford vs Everybody else comparison

Well...excuse me. I wasnt talking about the boring ass 4 door. Talking about the 3 door hatch. Just wanted to point out Civic is a slow piece of crap unless you wanna pay a 4-5g premium and get an Si. Si's are a different story.
And recall this, recall that. I use my zx3 as a commuter car and trust me, my car doesnt spend that much time at the dealer. Ive had to take it in for only 3 recalls and thats not much of a hassle in the 3 years Ive owned this car. Hell, my last 94 civic had more problems than my current zx3.
And for the price compared to a Civic coupe, your getting alot more hp for your money. Im just glad there is an alternative to the overpriced, overrated, underpowered civic.

You are correct when you say that the Civic is overpriced and underpowered. At the moment its way behind other cars in its class. It doesn't even look that Honda plans to do anything about it... Mazda 3, Corolla, Sentra have all jumped ahead... it pretty sad.

I like to give credit where credit is due, but don't call me a clown because it can only make you look small...
