XM w/FM modulator?

Anyone tried XM radio with FM Modulator?

"Google" the Delphi Roady system. FM Modulator is some deal that plugs into power supply (ciggy lighter) and powers tuner AND produces an FM signal that is picked up wirelessly by your head unit. Would fit nicely in console I believe, with tuner on tray or wherever.

$129 USD. Not bad for da money.

Good, bad, indifferent?

The thing I don't like about them is that you lose all the fidelity of sat radio by using FM modulation. I figure if you're going to spend that much anyway, get a hardwired one.

I dont know, sounds plausible, but from 3 feet away, I don't think attenuation is a big issue.

FM modulation sucks. I have an FM modulator that I sometimes take with my mp3 player if I'm going on a trip in a friend's car and I'd give it a 3 out of 10 for sound quality. It's just convenient not a permanent solution.

It's the resolution that is inherent in any FM modulation. You'll lose the upper and lower frequencies.

So basically you go from near CD Quality to FM Radio Quality.

Ah ok. Thought you were referring to signal attenuation.

Glad I asked!
