I've been searching for this forever. There was a rumor that directed might come out with something, but it's been over a year. I absolutely hate XM and I used to have Sirius in my old RSX, so the forced change is killing me.

It IS that bad - I've compared them. I just don't like the XM line up at all. Goofball station names that don't mean anything (Fred, lucy, Ethel?), and 400 country stations (ok, that may be an exaggeration). I love the Sirius channels, especially Octane, Coffee House, !st Wave, Alt Nation and Stern

If they ever sell a conversion box, I'll buy it the same day. Until then, I have my Starmate.

I have also heard that a conversion thing is or would be soon available, though I have never seen one. I had XM and canned it after a month, absolutely horrible. They dont play any good music in my opinion, especially if you like rock. Got Sirius now and I absolutely love it. Just wish I still got Opie and Anthony....

If you guys are so adamant about having Sirius, why not just get an auxiliary audio input adapter, a Sirius reciever, and just feed the audio from the Sirius receiver through the stock stereo. Not as good as having it integrated but you'll be able to listen to Sirius instead of XM.

If you read my post, you'll see that's what I did.

So far, only GM has the "brain swap" option. I wrote to Sirius, and they made no mention of an Acura solution (just AUX conversion options). Ah well.

Conversion kits are only available for GM vehicles as far as I know...and even those aren't out yet.

The Directed Sirius/GM unit won't be out until early July. Currently they are working on a Honda/Acura solution. Don't expect it out before the end of the year.

While the Acura unit is not available, does the GM unit fully integrate and also allow the display names to be properly shown on the head unit/nav screen?

A friend of a friend has XM. I've had Sirius since just after it came out. Without a lot of exposure to XM, it seems to be a bit more bland. Sirius I love and has some kinda fun DJ's. Plus after they added stern it got even better in my opinion.

Anyway, just curious.

The GM/Sirius unit will fully integrate with the GM radio. It is a direct plug in and you will need to install the Sirius antenna. The tricky part is the GM display. They have many different types of radios/displays. So what ever the current radio shows the Sirius unit will show the same. The limitations are in the GM radio...

Word... XM SUCKS! My girlfriend has an accord and it came with out, it was fine when it was free, but I wouldn't pay for XM.

I have sirius in my car with the starmate replay.... LOVE IT!!!

Just a random food for thought. The new GTI comes in Sirius package and XM package.

When the car was very rare people were forced to buy whatever package they could find with the other options.

This has caused a swap site to develop. They can swap just the satellite unit and everything is for the most part plug and play. (aside from everything saying XM/sirius) it works with subscription.

Beginning in '07, and until '12, VW/Audi models will only come with Sirius due to an agreement signed between VW/Audi and Sirius.

Well I have both. XM in my '05 TL and Sirius in my '97. I'm a huge Opie and Anthony fan, but XM's quality is poor and the selection terrible. So if I can somehow put O&A on my Sirius unit, i'd be quite happy

I just got my 2006 RSX and I love it, except for the XM. I have a lifetime Sirius account, and now I can't even use it. I'm so pissed! I really hope some kind of converter comes out SOON.

Count me in. I have lifetime Sirius in the house, plus factory in the Jeep. XM is the only thing I dislike about my RL. I'd be more than happy to give up traffic reports for Howard. Are the antennas interchangeable? I dislike the magnetic antenna more than the FM coupled receiver.

I spent the whole weekend researching this, and every place I went to told me I would have to have a separate Sirius antenna, AND that I can't even swap it with the stock XM antenna that comes on the TSX. So I'll have to have 2 satellite antennas. I'm not happy about that!

I've given up on this completely. I put a S50 in my car for about a month, but got annoyed at the whole set-up. Got a flyer in the mail for the $77 annual deal w/XM and did it. The integration is so much nicer to deal with than an external unit. If I had more time on my hands, I would replace the whole deck and go with Sirius, but I just don't care anymore...to much of a PITA.

I hear you DC. I'm close to that point myself. But I did just get some info yesterday that I posted in the forum that may allow me to stick with Sirius.

Auxiliary input converter:

That allows you to run any Sirius unit directly into your stereo, and not have to use FM modulation.


Antenna converter:

That allows you to use the stock XM antenna that comes on the Acura for Sirius.

I disagree - the following was inexpensive (under $90), easy to install (45 mins), and works perfectly. I've since run the wires under the center console making it completely integrated, and that was the 45 minutes part - Otherwise, this can be done like the pics in 10 minutes tops.

Looks good Irish. Was there a reason you didn't put it in the lower compartment? Did it not fit, or you just didn't like it that low? I'm not sure I'd want to give up the main storage compartment.

If I removed the ashtry piece, it might have fit. This was just easier in my mind, and I wasn't using that area for anything anyway.

I also just stashed the antenna in the front of the dash - the wires stay hidden, and the reception is fine. Now that I've seen your last post, Tony, I'm thinking I may get the antenna cable and use the XM antenna - that's a great find!

Just to follow up, I'd also love to have a plastic faceplate for the receiver in the cubby hole - if anyone has done this, or can give me ideas, I'd appreciate it!

I should be getting the antenna adapter, the Blitzsafe auxiliary adapter, and the Starmate 4 sometime this week. I'm going to try to have it installed as nicely as possible in the bottom compartment on the TSX. I'll let you know how it goes.

I had the Starmate 4 installed in my 2006 Acura TSX yesterday. I used a Blitzsafe auxiliary adapter and an XM antenna to Sirius converter (purchased from mrbrianrwebb@comcast.net) and everything came out great. No extra antenna on the car, and no FM modulation. Sound quality is perfect, and it looks great. Really turned out to be a good solution.

Irish, that looks like a nice setup for $90 and less than an hour of work!

Two questions:

1. Is that hard-wired to your AUX, or wireless FM modulated? If it's FM modulated, how is the reception?

2. How do you have it fastened in the cubby? Is it loose?

1. It's hard-wired. I ran the cords out of the console area and under the center console, then up into the AUX input part of the armrest console. It's almost completely hidden (the pics above show the wires before I ran them under the console.

I used to have the FM mod turned on, and it actually sounded pretty good (all things considered). This model has a VERY strong FM modulator.

2. It's loose - I used the suction cup mount and twisted it to have the cup face-down on the tray. It barely moves, especially with the rubber tray in place. I thought about removing the rubber tray and adding a bit of velcro or tape, but the movement is so slight that it doesn't bother me.

LOL Nice setup Irish! I've got just about the same exact thing.

I've got the starmate in that compartment as well, with the wires running under the console into the armrest, and I have a little splittler so the Sirius and Ipod are both plugged into the splitter, than the splitter into the aux port.

The power is hardwired in to the ignition, and I've got the antena in the far right corner of the dash, and it sounds great, I'll post some pics later.
