XM Radio Installations

Anyone installed either the Sony or Pioneer XM radios in a TL with the stock radio/CD changer? I'm considering one of the XMs and would like any feedback on your installation. Pictures would be great. Also, I'd like to know if there is a simple way to connect the FM modulator into the antenna. I'd like to be able to remove the system eventually.

Thanks.

I've got the Sony and I've attached it to the right side of the radio/nav console, just below where the glove compartment would obstruct it. It's reachable from the driver's seat, but since I primarily use the remote, I don't need to be able to touch it every time I change channels.

I ran the cassette input wire under the change drawer, through the radio console, and right up behind my mounting area. The power cord is under the center console and into the power adapter. It's a very neat installation, but the display for the radio is sideways.

Thumbs up

This is what I am going to get this summer as soon as I can find some extra money. I would like to have the receiver installed in the trunk. If I had the remote I would use the presets to get the stations I wanted. I contacted the radio/alarm shop that put in my Clifford alarm. They have the XM receivers & can custom install them.
When I went to www.xmradio.com to find the nearest dealer to me that shop was at the top of the list. I want to get it because it gives me more of a choice of music to listen to. I don't buy CDs that much any more so. This would be a good thing for me since I listen to Old school RB & Classic Soul alot. Some of this music was out in my teens or 20s or when I was a kid. I also have gotten into Jazz & Blues music more since I have gotten older. XM would give me a choice without going out to buy alot of CDs. PaulM9999 how do yo like the sound & the choice of music? The $10 monthly fee is not that much for all the stations they have. It also lets you get the same stations no matter were you are. They also offer Club Hits, Caribbean,Disco Reggae,MTV, VH1,BET Uptown, Uncut Hip -Hop & Rap & many others of the 100 stations. When I first heard about XM radio before they came out I thought it was a joke to pay for radio. But I figure you are going to spend over $10 for a CD then I can justify getting it. I am not going to go out & buy all the old stuff that I don't already have. I have another question for you guys how old are you? The reason I ask was because I wonder if the TV adds for XM are getting to the younger people. I learned more about it reading an add in my Automobile Magazine. My 12yr old nephew took a look at the magazine & said they offer alot of stations that he would listen to.

I'm 34 and I love my XM. The $10 a month is a steal- I only listen to local radio to get the traffic report as I leave the house, then I'm surfing XM for the rest of my hour-long commute. When you consider that I listen to XM for at least 10 hours per week, the cost becomes nominal-- and it allows me to avoid the frustrating lameness of commmercial-filled New York City radio.

Sound quality is excellent- just as good as a CD. I need to turn down the treble and push up the bass a bit in order to optimize the sound to my liking, which is a small inconvenience when switching over to CD, but I'm not complaining.

I'll try to take some pics of my install this weekend and post them.
