XM on Factory w/o FM Modulation

Ok.
Here is where I am on my thinking.

After reading about ryang's success of adding an Alpine MP3/CD changer to the factory head unit using a Blitzsafe adaptor, I began to think. Could this be used in an XM radio install as well?

After doing to research I found that both the MP3 changer and the XM radio receiver incorporate AiNET and MBus architecture. The Blitzadaptor model: HON/ALP DMXV.1

is said to allow fully digital signal interface to the factory head unit.

Information on the Blitzadaptor can be found HERE. Even though the specs are for 2001 models, according to Randomwalk101 in the afformentioned thread the adaptor will work for 2001+ (2003 w/nav).

Alpine TUA-T020XM AiNet XM Radio Receiver:

The XM reciever appears to have the same connections as their CD Changers as it supports AiNET and has a fully functional CD/MP3 changer pass-thru option. You can read about the receiver HERE

So this could mean the we might have stumbled onto a Fully Digital XM radio connection for our factory head units.

What do you guys think?

I don't know anything about that but I just got the pioneer xm radio that uses the existing radio and I would kill to have it run with my radio instead of having that little display unit. Someone please find out if this is possible!! Thanks

Guys.

It would be nice to control XM via the head unit; however, this is not my main goal in bringing this up. What we are looking for is a way to feed the full digital signal (44khz) into the headunit.

When one uses the XM FM modulator (yes it sounds good), one is limited to FM quality (22khz). You are effectivly listening to half of the possible high end signal quality.

We need a way to convert the XM signal into a signal we can fee the headunit.

Southbound or Iggy, does this sound like it might work?
