Wiring Subs and Amp

Hey all, i just got 2 12" JL subs with a 500.2 phoenix gold amp that i want to fit into my 2000 3.2 TL. Should i just take it into bestbuy or like a custom audio place to wire it up or should i trust a friend who has done several systems b4? my concern is with the factory amp, i was told that bestbuy and such would use the new amp in conjunction with the old one, so i will have both. i dont know if my friend is very capable of doing this, plus i can get some kind of warranty at best buy right?

Anyone had any experience w/ this? any advice? anyone know how to do it and is around Knoxville Tennessee and wants to make some money?

Regards.

What are you trying to do? just drive the new sub with the new amp, and leave the factory HU and speakers in place? If that's the case (you have original HU), a shop is likely to tap into your speaker-level outputs for your new sub. This would work, but would be affected when you use the fader control.

I'd design the system you want first, then decide how/who to install it.

Very true, and whatever you do dont go to BESTBUY for this!!! no offense to anyone who may work there, but they suck ass at installs. Find more of a specialty shop and they will give you a warranty on the work.

Yes, I just want to add the subs and amp to the system in such a way that in a year or so, God willling, if i get a new TL, i can pull the amp and subs from this one with ease and put it on the next. the subs have one one set of connectors for both of them.

The amp i got is: http://www.cardomain.com/item/PHOT5002B
and the subs are: http://www.jlaudio.com/enclosures/HO212RW3v2.html

also, i wanted to incorporate a pda into the HU so i can get in the car, hook up my pda to listen to music and just take it with my when i leave. The new dell axim x50 is what i was looking at, they are really good from what i hear: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...=19&l=en&s=dhs

Is there a way of doing this using the cdchanger port in the HU as i dont have a cdchanger?

I appreciate your guys's time and input.

cd changer port: yes, use the blitzsafe adapter aux. (I'm selling mine, by the way). See my stickied post for information on the cd changer port.

As for the sub amp, you can tap into the preamp sub input to the bose eq. (also see my other post). this involves a little soldering into the harness behind the radio. I doubt that a big shop like best buy will do this.
