wiring question

imma big newbie when it comes to electrical wiring so any help would be greatly appreciated.. im plannin on runnin a jl 12w3v2 (dual 4ohm) with a jl e1400d (400 W RMS x 1 @ 2 ohm ). the sub will be wired parallel. im also puttin in a 300w power inverter to power my xbox. would i need a distribution block/distribution fused block? is it safe to have both power wires from the amp and inverter hooked up to the positive on my battery? how would i make it so it looks like a clean install. i really dont want a bunch of wires coming from my battery through the firewall. thanks for all the help!

You need both wires going to the battery, unless you run a 4ga and put a distribution block in the trunk - your choice. If you put a block in the trunk you still need a big fuse or breaker at the battery. As long as every wire that hits your battery is fused properly, you're safe.

I'd run the wire under the trim into the wheel well for max stealth. There's always a hole into the kick, just use the OE grommet and silicone it after you run the wire thru it.

No good way to describe how to do wiring neatly - more something you have to see. My approach is to decide how to make it look factory - so I use split loom, which I electrical tape on the outside with tape which I stretch as I apply, and sometimes I hit it with a heat gun after to give it that OEM look.

I also don't hit the battery terminal, I hit the input to the OEM fuse box.

okay.. so i need to run a 4ga from the battery to a fuse holder then all the way to the distribution block in the trunk? then from the distribution block to my amp and inverter? do the fuses for the amp and inverter go into the fused d block?
what size fuse should i use for the battery? what size should i use for my amp and inverter( a 35amp fuse came with the inverter is that fine?) sorry im really new to all this and any help would be great!

I would find an ANL fuseholder you like and put it in the engine compartment up front... I'd use like a 60 or 70A fuse up there (the fuse for the inverter PLUS the fuse for the amp).

Then I'd put a distribution block in the trunk. It CAN be fused but doesn't have to be, if your inverter AND your amp have their own fuses (the fuse at the front protects the wires, the fuses on the equipment protect the equipment).

I'd go to bcae1.com, scroll on the right side to #19, installation primer, and scroll down to Adding an Amplifier. THat will go over wiring for ya...
